We are LIVE!
Huge thank you to everyone for following along over the years.
Hit a milestone of 400 site subscribers just recently, and I wanted to thank you all for your interactions and feedback - looking forward to 400 more.
Now, let’s get to it!
🧵
I am an African American Male who grew up in the Upper Middle Class in a predominantly white community.
I have two degrees from a Big Ten University.
Didn’t have a sip of alcohol until I was 24.
I never smoked or did illegal drugs.
But, none of that matters. (1/6)
‘Why Jalen Reagor’
Reagor has risen up draft boards leading up to the NFL combine, but some are questioning collegiate production & see a ‘one-dimensional’ skill set.
Let me be the first to tell you, Jalen Reagor is much more than your traditional field-stretcher.
Enjoy!
‘Why Henry Ruggs III’
He is undoubtedly the most controversial player in this deep & talented 2020 class.
Henry Ruggs III's world-class athleticism was on full display at the NFL Combine, but why else are NFL evaluators enamored with him besides the physical traits?
Enjoy!
First, I want to say thank you.
Thank you for the support, feedback and countless positive interactions.
Your words of encouragement, and constructive criticism over the past year have led to this website.
Welcome to Angelo Analysis!
'Why D’Andre Swift’
Many believe that D’Andre Swift will be the first back off the board in the 2020 NFL draft.
What qualities does the former Georgia Bulldog possess that separates him from the top of this talented running back class?
Enjoy!
‘Why Jerry Jeudy’
After a successful collegiate career at Alabama, there is anticipation that Jeudy will become an immediate primary option on an NFL offense.
What are the qualities he possesses that can lead to that type of role?
Enjoy!
'Why Jonathan Taylor’
Former Wisconsin Badger, Jonathan Taylor became one of the most decorated backs in NCAA history during his time in Madison.
As Taylor enters his NFL career, let’s take a look what separates him from the other talented prospects in this class.
Enjoy!
Dan Campbell saw first hand how Sean Payton deployed Kamara & Ingram in 2017, has mentioned it in pressers, and now we got that same idea in game action.
As a Rookie, Kamara averaged 9 touches per game during his first 4 games.
Last four games, he averaged 16.5.
Note:
This is a systemic issue that will not change overnight.
This latest event is unfortunately not the first, nor the last time someone loses their life due to the color of their skin.
How do we help break this cycle?
Listen - Understand - Discuss - Take meaningful action
‘Why Clyde Edwards-Helaire’
The NFL values backs that can beat you in a multitude of different ways, Clyde Edwards-Helaire (CEH) does just that.
CEH is the best receiving back in this deep & talented 2020 class, but he is much more than your traditional pass catcher.
Enjoy!
‘Let’s talk about: David Montgomery’
The Bears offense is ranked 30th in the league.
Combine that with a bottom 5 run blocking unit and you have yourself an offensive disaster.
Circumstance has not been on Montgomery’s side, but let’s look at what he’s been doing.
Enjoy!
‘Why CeeDee Lamb’
Lamb seems to be the popular pick for the first receiver off the board in the 2020 NFL Draft and in a class full of talented pass-catchers, that is saying a lot.
What makes Lamb different for the other top tier receivers in this class?
Enjoy!
'What’s going on with: Jonathan Taylor?’
After a Historic Career as a Wisconsin Badger and an eye-popping NFL Combine, the writing was on the wall for Taylor to become an immediate contributor for the Indianapolis Colts.
What’s held up his Rookie breakout?
Enjoy!
‘Why Cam Akers’
The NFL Combine opened eyes to the type of athlete Cam Akers is, and it’s no secret that his collegiate production was hampered by poor offensive line play during his time as a Seminole.
So, what does Akers bring to the table beyond the surface level?
Enjoy!
‘Why Laviska Shenault Jr.’
A unique combination of prototype stature & raw athleticism lead some to believe that Shenault is a top tier talent in the 2020 class.
But, why are some hesitating about the former Colorado Buffalo?
Enjoy!
‘What do we see in: David Montgomery’
There was lots of hype surrounding Montgomery before the season began & many were disappointed with his lack of production.
If you look at the box scores you neglected to see the finer details that showed promise moving forward.
Enjoy!
I am just a nerd who loves working with athletes, studying human movement, and talking ball.
Beyond humbled and appreciative for all of the interactions that have led Ten Thousand of you to follow my work.
Words can't describe how excited I am for what's to come!
‘What do we see in: Miles Sanders’
If I had an award for ‘most improved rookie’ I am giving it to Sanders.
He has a long way to go before he reaches his ceiling, but he is on the right path, in the perfect situation.
Let's look back at his explosive Rookie campaign.
Enjoy!
It means collegiate production should be highly factored into all processes no matter height/weight/testing measurables.
Dell had two straight 1,300 + yards seasons at Houston to go along with 29 touchdowns in that span.
Is Tank Dell an outlier at 5-8, 165 lbs. or proof that size for WRs shouldn’t be weighted as heavily? In Week 11, the
#Texans
rookie WR had 8 receptions for 149 yards and 1 TD while seeing a 27% target share.
‘Why JK Dobbins’
Dobbins opting not to participate in drills at the NFL Combine has raised questions on his athletic measurables.
However, Dobbins has an overall game that reaches beyond the surface-level.
What will NFL teams be looking at with the former Buckeye?
Enjoy!
‘Why James Robinson?’
One of the surprises of the off-season has been Robinson going into Week 1 as the starting running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He had a historic career at Illinois State, and an intriguing pre-draft process.
Could he be here to stay?
Enjoy!
'The puzzle of Justin Fields'
Not a guru, or someone who claims to understand the Quarterback position at a high level, but there are some glaring tells from a movement & cognitive perspective that we can see going on with Justin Fields…. are they correctable? (5 min read)
‘Why Bryan Edwards?’
The Former Gamecock comes into the NFL with an interesting line of collegiate production.
Even with a less than stellar statistical career, why is Bryan Edwards poised to become the steal of this 2020 NFL Draft?
Enjoy!
'Why Justin Jefferson?'
During the 2020 NFL Combine Jefferson also turned some heads with surprising athletic measurables, but still some believe Jefferson is not a multi-dimensional player in terms of position versatility.
There is much more to Jefferson than meets the eye.
Perceptual-Cognitive skill
Three key areas that help make up a difficult to define, yet meaningful attribute of elite athletes.
1. Spacial Manipulation & Improvisational Deception
2. Variance of Pace
3. Situational Understanding & Environmental Awareness
Let's begin!
'Why Javon Baker?'
-- One of 12 Receivers since 2019 over a 43.0 film grade
-- My WR4 in this strong & deep cycle
-- Last year my "pound the table" Receiver was Tank Dell, this year it's..... Javon Baker.
Let's take a deep dive ⬇️
Don't forget about Kayshon Boutte.
A broken ankle that required multiple procedures slowed his development. If it wasn't for that, he was on pace to be a top-ten pick.
One of the best post-catch receivers in this class who has run sub 20.90 in the 200m.
If healthy...🚀
'Let’s talk about: Phillip Lindsay’
A unique combination of movement intellect & rare acceleration ability are on display weekly that we choose to ignore because Lindsay doesn’t fit the mold of what a running back looks like in our heads.
He is special.
Here is why.
Enjoy!
'Why David Montgomery"
David Montgomery is the most unique back in terms of the traits that will make him successful. He makes up for his lack of elite top end speed & explosive ability with intellect and a wide array of meaningful yet, overlooked skills.
Enjoy the thread!
‘Who’s next?: Tamorrion Terry
Terry has a chance to be the fastest riser at the receiver position in this deep & talented 2021 class.
His combination of size, physicality, and top-end speed makes for a prospect with an extremely high ceiling when he enters the NFL.
Enjoy!
Devon Achane will walk into the league on a short list when it comes to top-end speed.
10.14 in the 100m & 20.20 in the 200m puts him in a class with Tyreek Hill & Raheem Mostert.
On top of that, he's a better football player than given credit for.
Day 2 🔒
'Why Devonta Smith?'
'Why Devonta Smith?' will be free to view until the conclusion of the 2021 NFL Draft.
2021 prospect profiles available:
Najee Harris -- Travis Etienne -- Javonte Williams
On deck:
'Why Ja'Marr Chase?'
Enjoy!
‘Why Darwin Thompson’
Here is a name that isn't getting enough buzz. Thompson only played one year of Division 1 football at Utah State before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 6th round.
Andy Reid clearly sees something, but what does he see?
Enjoy the thread!
'Let’s talk about: Miles Sanders’
After Sanders’ combine many thought that he would find instant success, but there is more to being an NFL running back than surface-level athleticism.
Let’s take a look at what he’s been doing behind one of the best lines in the NFL.
Enjoy!
'Angelo Analysis 2021'
Thank you, everyone, for your conversations, support, and suggestions after the site launched in 2020!
Angelo Analysis is now live for the 2021 Draft Season; below are some significant changes & what to expect throughout the rest of the year.
A healthy Raheem Mostert is a dangerous, dangerous man.
Having the second fastest player in the NFL in a Kyle Shanahan scheme is a borderline cheatcode.
'Why Antonio Gibson?'
Being deployed at both receiver & running back during his Junior season at Memphis gives Gibson an intriguing ceiling as a playmaker.
But, what is his appeal besides impressive surface level traits?
Enjoy!
‘Pre-training camp buys’
Below are five players to buy before training camp buzz causes their stock to 📈
1) Dante Pettis
2) Kenyan Drake
3) Anthony Miller
4) Keke Coutee
5) Peyton Barber
'Let’s talk about: Devin Singletary'
Before the season he was...
“Too small”
"Too slow”
“Not athletic enough to be successful in the NFL”
Through 10 weeks, Singletary has been one of the league’s most efficient backs.
Let's explore 'Why'
Enjoy!
‘Why Malik Willis?’
We’ve all heard the buzz of Willis’ performance during Senior Bowl practices. However, one aspect that we couldn’t see as well, is how he performs as a runner.
Where does Willis fall historically with his capabilities running the football?
Enjoy!
'Why JaMycal Hasty?’
With a limited sample we’ve seen JaMycal Hasty provide an additional spark to an already dangerous rushing attack.
Now with injuries hampering the 49ers top three rushers could Hasty end up earning a larger role moving forward?
Enjoy!
'Why Kayshon Boutte?'
Two years ago, Kayshon Boutte was a consensus top-fifteen prospect in this draft class.
With a week to go until draft day... he could be drafted on Day 2 or become a priority UDFA.
Let’s take a look at what he offers an organization when healthy.
🧵⏲️
DeVonta Smith covers ground with a lower rate of stride frequency, but with a higher rate of stride length & economy.
Higher rates of economy = more efficient decelerative patterns.
More efficient decelerative patterns mean consistent success transitioning in & out of breaks.
‘Why Jahmyr Gibbs?’
✅ High-end receiving skillset
✅ 97th percentile play speed
✅ Field IQ
Let’s take a look at what Gibbs brings to the table & how he’ll fit in an NFL offense. ⬇️
Rome Odunze is the best fit for Justin Herbert’s skill set with the 5th pick. Can move inside & out and impact the vertical passing game at a high level.
Love Malik Nabers, and what he brings to the table, but Odunze fits Herbert like a glove.
'Why Clyde Edwards-Helaire?' will now be free to view on Angelo Analysis.
Let's dive into his skill set and see how he fits into the NFL's most prolific offense.
Enjoy!
Wide Receiver Yards Per Game data when combining a prospects two best collegiate seasons.
-- 68 yards per game seems to be the threshold for higher-end NFL production
-- Out of 52 receivers drafted since 2020 who had under 68 yards per game only 2 have gone on to have 1,000
Quite literally the fastest offense of all time.
Tyreek Hill - 10.19 100m
De'Von Achane - 10.14 100m
Raheem Mostert - 10.28 100m
Jaylen Waddle - 10.60 100m
Closest to "World Class" speed you'll see on a football field.
Me when Rashod Bateman is on the board at 20 for my Chicago Bears...and then again when...
“The Chicago Bears select, Kadarius Toney, University of Florida”
Laviska Shenault looks like a tank (in a good way) on tape. One of my scouting notes is that he turns into a RB with the ball in his hands.
Shenault came in at 227. Not only is he a RB with the ball in his hands...he's a BIG RB with the ball in his hands.
Goodness.
‘Who’s next?: Najee Harris”
Alabama has made a habit of churning out NFL caliber recently.
Harris is no different, and is a truly unique talent at the position.
Hint: he isn't your traditional 235lbs bruiser.
Enjoy!
'Offensive line v Running back'
We have seen running backs with previous success struggle this year, which led to the question....
How strong is the correlation between running back success & offensive line capability?
Data complied via:
See below!
'Who's next?: Ja'Maar Chase
The 2021 class of receivers is extremely talented at the top, and there is none more complete then Ja'Maar Chase.
But, what makes Chase WR1?
'Why Rashod Bateman?'
Free to view until Monday night at midnight (4/19)
Notes on Bateman:
- Smart, savvy & well-studied player.
- Uncanny knack for making plays along the boundary.
- Wide variety of tools to win at the LOS.
Enjoy!
Something I look at when evaluating prospects is how they do in important stretches of the season.
In this three game stretch for Jahmyr Gibbs - Bryce Young was injured in two of them & less than 100% for the third against Tennessee.
Arkansas
20 touches - 226 yards - 2
'Why Treylon Burks?'
With nearly 35% of the votes - Treylon Burks is the free profile of the week on Angelo Analysis.
What does Burks look like beyond the surface level?
Enjoy!
‘Why Trey Sermon?’
The Third Rounder out of Ohio State comes into San Francisco with the requisite skill set to be successful in Kyle Shanahan’s wide zone scheme.
Could Sermon be the 49ers lead back of the future?
Enjoy!
Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 74 yards and a TD on 9 carries, generating a 88.9% rushing success rate against Tampa, the 3rd-highest rate in a game by a RB since 2018 (min. 9 carries).
Gibbs also averaged a season-high 6.1 rush yards after contact per carry.

#OnePride
Sneaky win for Aidan O'Connell?
- didn't trade up for a QB
- got of the best weapons in the class in Bowers
- can play in 12 personelle with Mayer, Bowers, Adams and Meyers
Devonta Smith now has 5 200 yard receiving games in his career.
The entire class of first rounders in 2020 (Ruggs, Jeudy, Lamb, Aiyuk, Reagor, Jefferson) combined for 2.
Smith has a chance to be a special player.
Unbelievably fun to watch him work.
'Why Javonte Williams?'
'Why Javonte Williams?' will be free to view until Monday night @ Midnight (2/22) & is now available for purchase on Angelo Analysis.
2021 profiles available: Najee Harris & Travis Etienne
On deck:
WR Ascension Grades
Enjoy!
‘Why Alexander Mattison”
97 carries, 545 yards, & 5 touchdowns over his last three collegiate games tells a story about the type of running back Alexander Mattison is.
But, what did the Minnesota Vikings see in Mattison to take him in the third round?
Enjoy the thread!
The top two receivers are clear in this draft cycle.
Harrison Jr. & Nabers are both worthy of being top 12 selections come April.
Franchise changing players.
One of the best movers of this cycle at the Running Back position is L.A Chargers, Kimani Vidal.
High-end Field IQ & Perceptual Cognitive skillset.
Sound 🆙
'Why Kyle Pitts?'
'Why Kyle Pitts?' will be free to view until Wednesday night at midnight (3/17)
2021 prospect profiles available:
Najee Harris
Travis Etienne
Javonte Williams
DeVonta Smith
Ja'Marr Chase
On deck:
'Why Jaylen Waddle?'
‘Rookie report - Laviska Shenault Jr. ’
In his debut, we saw Laviska Shenault's trademark versatility on display against the Colts.
Let’s take a look at the start of his Rookie campaign and what it may mean moving forward.
'Who's next? Travis Etienne'
Etienne is arguably the most dynamic runner in this next class.
Coming back for his Senior season may pay dividends and lead to first round draft capital.
What are some of the qualities he has that can separate him from this 2021 class?
Enjoy!
This man did not know that there are:
Doctors, Lawyers, Astronauts, Scientists, etc. who share a similar pigment to me.
To him, we were perception of what society made us to be.
Cam Akers setting a new bar in modern medicine today. Remarkable and historic that he is back on an NFL field so soon.
Kudos to him & that Rams training staff. 🤙🏽
