Apple created a private communication system, and runs its own infrastructure for it. A 3rd-party app reverse-engineered the system and injected itself in while letting Apple carry the server burden. Oh, and attempted to charge $ for it.
How is Apple in the wrong here, exactly?
Green bubble texts are less secure. So why would Apple block a new app allowing Android users to chat with iPhone users on iMessage? Big Tech executives are protecting profits by squashing competitors.
Chatting between different platforms should be easy and secure.
"Tramaglini has taken a paid leave of absence from his $147,504 a year job in Kenilworth."
Making 150k a year and you're out there pooping on a high school football field "on a daily basis"?
WE SHOULD ALL BE USING RCS BECAUSE IT'S A STANDARDIZED MESSAGING PROTOCOL, MEANING ANYONE ON ANY OPERATING SYSTEM CAN CHAT WITH ALL OF THE SAME FEATURES
I know Apple is in pretty deep at this point, but it should completely scrap the iOS notification center and start over. There’s no saving this disaster.
So I don’t have a problem with the Pixel 3 XL’s notch. But once you notice that the top corners and bottom corners of the display don’t have the same radius, you can’t unsee it.
Today, I say farewell to
@androidcentral
after over 8 years. A site, and group of people, I love immensely.
I started as a freelancer, and leave as an Executive Editor. It's been an incredible journey, and I've enjoyed every minute of it.
Now, onward to new opportunities.
So the iPad Pro doesn’t have a headphone jack.
It also doesn’t have a Lightning port.
Apple doesn’t make USB-C earbuds or a USB-C to headphone adapter.
Hmm.
I've made a lot of jokes about how utterly massive the iPhone 12 Pro Max is. But uh, then I reminded myself just how huge the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is 😅
So OnePlus can’t actually claim it’s water resistant, tells people it cheaped out on a feature in a year it once again raised prices, and also opens itself up to undue stress testing involving water.
And it isn’t going to warranty against water damage anyway, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@vanDykPJ
lmao what year do you live in? Androids are most certainly not "riddled with malware and insecurities". Apple isn't keeping iMessage to the iPhone because it's worried about malware over SMS.
Not that it needed saying, but Elizabeth Warren obviously isn't the top tier of technical knowledge and there's zero reason to expect her to understand this.
Also it’s clearly a pretty small thing in the grand scheme, but trying to sell a $700+ phone in 2019 without an IP water resistance rating is kind of ridiculous. People will be right to nitpick on this point when the price gets to that point.
Samsung may be proud of its Infinity-O display on stage, but its stock wallpapers tell a different story. Every single GS10+ wallpaper has a darkened or black corner in the tip-right corner where the camera cutout is.

We talk a lot about how phones are getting “too big” but haven’t really talked about weight much. These phones are getting incredibly heavy, and our pinky fingers pay the price.
Is it kinda shitty that Apple so quickly shut down Beeper Mini? Yeah it stinks, the number of people who were going to use it is likely small enough it wouldn't have made a dent in Apple's infrastructure.
But, Apple is 110% within its right to shut down unauthorized access.
So the Note 9 ships with the same charger as the Note 8, GS9 and multiple older generations of Samsung flagships. QC 2.0 "Adaptive Fast Charging" at a max of 9V/1.67A (aka 15W). It does charge ever-so-slightly faster than the Note 8 and GS9+, though!
I am incredibly excited to announce I have joined

I will keep applying, and growing, my expertise in the mobile world. But I'll be expanding into a wider-reaching role covering more than just Android.

This is an important point a lot of people are missing. Things have boiled down to “bring iMessage support to Android” — but that really isn’t a good solution. The solution is for Apple to support RCS, an actual messaging standard.
We’re not asking Apple to make iMessage available on Android. We’re asking Apple to support the industry standard for modern messaging (RCS) in iMessage, just as they support the older SMS / MMS standards.
The Galaxy S10e was such a great little phone. Small, but w/ the full Samsung experience. Lose the telephoto camera, don’t care. Perfect size, great screen, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, battery life was _fine_.
Wish Samsung would re-release it, not unlike the iPhone SE.
I am blown away by the Pixel 4’s Night Sight improvements. It beats the iPhone 11 in most respects in super-low-light shots. The iPhone can handle large swaths of sky and water better, but that’s about it.
Okay, Google Maps has got to stop with the number of notification channels it has. This is downright absurd. Nobody will ever take the time required to actually configure this to work the way they want/need. Insanely bad UX.
This is the most “it’s a tablet” design I’ve ever seen.
Like, the kind of tablet you put in a promo for a website because you couldn’t get the rights to show a specific brand.
Here’s a sneak peek at our upcoming Pixel tablet 👀

My Galaxy Fold is green/pink/yellow/silver and definitely stands out. It folds in half. I'm getting used to it all ... lots to learn about how to use this new form factor. Completely new experience.
This phone is just so pretty. The matte glass is slippery as heck, but it's gorgeous. And the big upside is you don't see a pile of fingerprint smudges.
On the face of it, you understand why Epic wants to control the entire Fortnite install system.
But when you think about it, this is an absolutely idiotic decision that's going to cause a lot of problems for a lot of people who just want to play a game.
