Eric is a fascist-kicking, Palestine-supporting, eyebrow-rocking, fun-French-accent-in-English-speaking, legend😇(also, quite a good/fun footballer!)
The idea that supporting liberation (in this case decolonization) implies uncritically siding with whatever political faction/group/figures are louder or dominant is so dumb and self-defeating. Most self-proclaimed representatives of oppressed people coopt the liberation movt

This comes after calls to take to the streets and protest the difficult situation in Gaza demanding better life conditions from the authorities.

Yep same for me, narcolepsy means I have moments where I'm "checked out" mentally/socially because I'm too tired -> start looking bored, looking into the distance, like I don't want to be here/there anymore, ...
Some of the glee and enthusiasm I'm seeing about Hezbollah, Hamas and Houthis, just makes me want to vomit. People pretend to have liberatory/revolutionary principles then do "the darndest things" (aka supporting butchers, authoritarians, etc bcz they're not in the US camp)
A lot of modern mythmaking and politics is like that, what Hobsbawm called "invented traditions" (for instance, various parts of Christian and Islamic fundamentalism pretending to be based on longstanding "traditions" that aren't so and only a few centuries old)
many countries will say they have long and historic national identities but when you look into you learn that that "identity" was invented by random poets and musicians in the mid 1800s
Du Bois also was a pioneer (alongside Jane Addams, etc) of modern US sociology, though clearly not recognized as such. He used qualitative+quantitative methods years before the other important pioneers from the Chicago School of the 20s-30s
to gain and reinforce their own power. Hamas is no different, it happened in Algeria, it happens everywhere and everytime. And it NEVER means the movt/struggle/revolt itself - by all means necessary - isn't legitimate because some of the political groups are shitty...

Marx also literally said, in texts on Paris Commune, that he was misraken in the manifesto, and that workers NOT take hold of the state. But I get your point, and Bakunin's arguments are still relevant (if anything more so concerning the actual marxist movement, as the meme says)

It says so much more about her than the kids, doesn't it... Kids like to imagine stuff and make jokes? (Especially trying to get a reaction out of someone, e.g. an adult who can't help getting angry when kids tease her...) Who knew!

Reminder that for both Palestinians and Syrians, the atrocities and tyranny of the Assads are not up for debate, it's only campist and pro-authoritarian morons elsewhere who spread lies and insult the memory of their victims.
Good on Rashida Tlaib for doing this
Over 600,000 Syrians have been killed. I introduced the Justice for Syrians Resolution to push for the U.N. to finally hold war criminal Assad accountable for his crimes against humanity at an Ad Hoc international court of law. We must demand justice for the Syrian people.
Having read (and I did a full google doc with notes while reading lmao) the first version of the book (the pdf), this is genuinely one of the best theoretical perspectives on how to understand capitalism, basically using all the best contributions from critical Marxist literature
What established politics, states and governments don't want people to know and talk about is that the permanent danger of escalating fascism/far right atrocities/etc isn't solely coming from far right groups or parties, but is ALSO already produced through the system of borders
Greek police are using refugees as ‘slaves’ to force 1000s of desperate asylum seekers back to Turkey. For the first time you can hear one of them talk on camera about being forcibly recruited into violent operations that Greece still denies
What is happening in Calais right now is an example of the totalitarian brutality of the capitalist/statist/racist status quo, especially against migrants and radical activists.
Also, this is where actual radical solidarity and politics is needed.

Oh yes inject it into my veins, here's a translation of what the police said about the "mud wizard" in Lützerath: "To taunt a defenseless man in need of help, to mock him and to go so far as to bring him down, is behavior that nothing surpasses in inhumanity, contempt and infamy

Zapatistas have been targeted by the Mexican state since 1994 because Indigenous revolutionary autonomy (without and against the state) is both preventing further plunder and exploitation of Chiapas and the ppl there, and offers a radical model (esp. for Indigenous peasants)
“The constant attacks on the Zapatista self-governing territory – and on the original indigenous nations of Chiapas and Mexico as a whole – are the continuation of policies by previous political parties: the PRI, PAN, now disguised as MORENA.”
Capitalist society simply would rather people suffer and even DIE than give any worker a break. It's quite literally a death cult (and frankly on top of actual death there's the living dead which is alienated life under this system) which is why it's enraging that
There's no real need for many workers to be working on a day like today. Even for builders, gardeners, delivery drivers, and I've seen plenty of them out today...I'm wondering what is it that they're doing, that they cannot do tomorrow when the weather is slightly better.
Folks, if you need Leftist theory or want to listen to audio books of these texts you've never managed to start reading, I've made a yuge youtube playlist where I put all the audiobooks I could find, as well as other videos of Leftist ideas. I'm still adding stuff regularly
@VenturCommunist
It's also different to say "the end of capitalism is inevitable" vs "communism is inevitable". And I agree, there's been more than a century since any talk about socialism/communism being "inevitable" made any sense...

Essential read because this shows dynamics that we can find in the so-called "far left" across the world: capitalistic practices in anticapitalist guise, media and political careerism while branding themselves as "voices of the people/movements", etc
Shame on everyone on the Left - especially self proclaimed "socialists" or "anti-imperialists" - who are legitimizing and doing PR for the brutal regime in Nicaragua.
Fuck all of them, and they aren't just in the West btw, there are always regional or local shills and idiots
Heinrich: the Marxian critique of political economy does not simply present itself as a new theory or as a new problematic in the history of economic thought, but rather as a critique of the theoretical field that produced the various theories of classical political economy
There's something neat about reading about some peoples attitudes towards trans people in the 1800s, how so many just reacted like "oh that's neat! Let's hang out"
It's a good counter to the idea that ignorance is the same as hostility. It's not, people learn to hate.
This a sobering development for Democrats. The Biden Administration is using a policy that Stephen Miller couldn’t get through the courts to categorically ban asylum. They are doing so in addition to expanding Title 42 and going beyond what any court has ordered them to do.
Reminder that the ONLY time EVER socdem welfare policies "worked" was 1) in a very small part of the world 2) only after and *because* (eliminated tons of surplus capital and labor power etc) of the utter destruction and mass murder of/in Europe 3) and barely lasted 20 years...
Shouldn't we work to build dual-power-alternative platforms and apps for internet, social media, and so on, in order not to be so dependent (and hence vulnerable) on Google, Facebook, and tech giants?
Like in Tigray, like in Bosnia, and more, many people, govts/politicians, NGOs, and media outlets are calling what's happening in Gaza a "war", "conflict"... It's a genocide, you should see it and call it as such!
Raoul Vaneigem: "People who talk about revolution and class struggle without referring explicitly to everyday life, without understanding what is subversive about love and what is positive in the refusal of constraints, such people have corpses in their mouths."
Authoritarian and reactionary 'socialism' are a huge obstacle to radical popular emancipation. It has poisoned the Left enormously, and distorted its unwavering commitment to universal emancipation and genuine human freedom
On point. It is ridiculous for radical leftists to play this childish game of thinking they are Lenin or Luxemburg 100 years ago when it was actually a practical dilemma. What must be done is making (esp. poor and oppressed) people's live better asap.
We see this most frequently amongst Leftists who adhere to a false dichotomy of “reform vs. revolution” where any type of reform supported by folks like Bernie or AOC is dismissed as an attempt to reform Capitalism, as opposed to something that could strengthen the working class.
One thing that Bookchin rightly emphasized is how throughout history bottom up neighborhood/communal councils and committees have been at the center of countless revolutions, autonomous movts, etc. (the same can be said about autogestion in its various forms)
The resistance and neighbourhood committees swung into action as soon as the clashes broke out, giving civilians information about how to protect themselves:
These are just SOME examples of the BS that passes for "socialism", while in actuality undermining (to say the least) it beyond repair.
The 20th taught us that supposed socialists are often the first to betray socialist/popular revolutions
@moonlit_misfit
Yeah... and they should ask Syrians how they feel about them painting Hezbollah as this "anti-imperialist" force while it has spent the past decade butchering tens of thousands in Syria...
The destruction of Syria by Assad and his allies is one of the most devastating and atrocious horrors of this era, partly destroying one of humanity's oldest and deepest cultures/societies (its ppl, their homes, the joy, their cultural heritage and maintenance, etc)

Good luck for your studies and pursuing your aspirations mate, sometimes I disagree with things you say but in terms of reporting your (early) work so far has been impressive!
It's very clear that the multi-dimensional movement in France right now has mobilized many segments of the proletariat (migrants and foreigners joining in is a big sign), as opposed to some of the previous movements which were largely middle-class-based
Another very important thread/commentary everyone should read⬇️, and - I won't stop saying this^^ - please follow Arnesa who's someone we honestly don't really deserve, she's amazing❤️For people who haven't lived through murderous wars or genocides, this is crucial to listen to!
Srebrenica is the best example of this. A “safe area” set up by the UN, telling all the refugees of all the surrounding towns & villages to come to the Safe Area where they would be protected by the UN. 20,000 people in an open air concentration camp, all handed over to the Serbs

Gonna be fully transparent and honest with everyone here: a few years ago (before learning stuff that led me to hate the likes of Vijay Prashad) I used to work for The Tricontinental for about a year - I did translations of weekly newsletters and various publications.

Grayzone "journalists" (a better description is conspiracist apologists/propagandists) are one of the worst ghouls on the face of the earth, they consistently support and do PR for the likes of Milosevic and Assad, who are some of the worst monsters in recent decades.
God spare me greyzone journalists who read a singular line in a International Court judgement from
2016 for a war criminal who was sentenced to life in his appeal in 2019 that mentions a different war criminal and think they solved everything & are experts in war crimes.
Best analyses of Marx's (general; not specific classes as in what I wrote on my blog) conception of class I've read so far:

Fascism has legit been an INSTITUTION in the US for ages. Here's one example of why almost nothing has changed since the times of Huey Newton and Fred Hampton
Members of BSA and their families are now being openly targeted by the FBI, despite us not being engaged in any illegal activity whatsoever.
We’re calling on any and all legal orgs/coalitions focused on protecting organizers for assistance in further protecting us at this time.
I mean where to even start with this shit... (In a weird, philosophical way) this is what "redbrown" (and/or "nazbol) ACTUALLY means folks: LITERALLY A FUSION of the most reactionary elements of Bolshevism with some far right ideas (in this case metaphysical/philosophical Nazism)
Imagine still thinking in 2023 that human lives must be miserable and people can't have fun and celebrate, that naked bodies are somehow inherently perverse and/or sexual, not to mention the idea that children would be more in danger here than, say, churches, schools, or at home
It's weird because I deeply like specific parts/forms of marxism (while hating a large/even most of orthodo/authoritarian marxis) and anarchism but every time I hear either "side" throwing generalities like "they miss/fail/ignore... this and that" without caveats it just BORES ME

Otto Rühle is one of the greatest commentators of the counter-revolutionary nature of Bolshevism.

Ugarte to join for €50m + €10m in a permanent deal. United get their desired up front fee on their top choice midfielder.
Mctominay to depart for €30m in a permanent deal. United get their desired fee of £25m+ for an important long serving player.
Fantastic business.
This is so fucking grim and outrageous.
Hezbollah have butchered thousands of Syrians, Houthis are rabid antisemites starving cities in Yemen, and both are reactionary Islamist groups (Castro and Mao aren't great guys either, but at least they pretended to be communist)
Based on a recent study I found while creating this infographic, there's 18 billion animal lives lost per year IN FOOD WASTE ALONE (meaning 18 billion animals that are raised to die in factory farming and not even eaten), and more than 90% of those are chicken
It's actually disturbing how desensitized humanity is to animal suffering, how the hell do tens of thousands of people look at that video as a funny and quirky joke? It is so awful I don't have the heart to directly quote it, even though it doesn't explicitly show the cruel parts
Conspiracism, campism, authoritarianism, populist BS, denialism/revisionism, chauvinism, antisemitism, etc are obviously present in leftist groups and movements around the world, the idea it's only or mainly a Western thing is simply wrong (and/or naive)
Pathetic excuses, the real reason is Erik's game model doesn't favour/integrate smooth creative players like Sancho or Amad, his hope is always that forward will problem solve to compensate for the poverty of final third patterns/coaching
🚨🗣️ Erik ten Hag on what Amad has to do to start games over Antony and Rashford:
“Amad deserves it but don’t forget he was injured for a long period of time. So we will rebuild him and give him opportunities. There is a lot of competition for his position.”

People are still fighting around the world, in Iran, Haiti, Myanmar, etc... it's important to not rely on algorithm-based and mainstream-media- news/info feed because they are systematically/structurally underreporting protests and mobilizations (and even more so in global south)
Nick Estes and Vijay Prashad have this veneer of legitimacy as public intellectuals talking in the name of the "wretched of the earth" and the global south, but they repeatedly show themselves as the "red flag" authoritarians that they are.
Pannekoek: "The proletarian recognises the truth of economic theory through his own life experience, which has burned the facts of economic life fervently into his soul."
It's really horrendous that Arnesa and other survivors are again being abused like this by Chomsky fans.
She's said everything that needs to be said on this topic here⬇️but clearly these ppl just won't ever learn to let go of this toxic intellectual figure despite all this
Chomsky specifically said that a concentration camp in which thousands of Bosniaks were forcibly imprisoned in, raped, tortured, and killed and then put in mass graves was "a refugee camp in which people could come and go as they please".
He specifically denied the atrocities.
I'm still not going to accept strict labels like "anarchists" and "Marxists" for a basic reason: I'm sick and tired of the 100+ years long spectacle of "my ideology is aKTuAlLy the good guys and the others are just enemies who don't have brains and think like a hive mind"
@TheDevilsDNA
Mostly Utd academy but needless to say, anytime you concede 20 shots against Rosenborg (not even the best team in their country lol) sth's wrong, and more specifically same defensive nonsense as last season.
There's NO GAME where conceding 20 shots can be considered okay imo...

is a great "intro" piece to communist theorizing, imo. Abstract critical theory can be daunting esp. for the first time (when unfamiliar with the slang), but with time/patience and group study it's not beyond the reach of anyone
