I’m a stay-at-home mom who homeschools. My kids are older and self sufficient. I have an MDiv. I have tons of time to volunteer. But after the #sbc23 all I heard was stay home and sit down. I won’t stay home, but my time will likely be given to ministry outside the SBC.

#SBC I’m stepping out. I can’t engage this fight anymore. My mental health cannot handle the bread crumbs of hope followed by the the soul crushing betrayals. I can’t leave my local church but my tithes will be designated toward our benevolence fund to help people locally.

My #abuse wasn’t dealt with by my #church because they thought my mom was lying. The state convention thought it was lies, but @IMB_SBC knew he was an abuser, brought him off the field, and refused to help us. The “biblical” way doesn’t work when you accuse people they like.

I attended Passion once in 2006. I listened to Piper but I walked away feeling like an idiot because I couldn’t follow his train of thought. I also heard @BethMooreLPM speak. I walked away convicted and God used her to help me escape the fear that paralyzed me after my abuse.

A statue of limitation prevents cases from goinging to court. To allow the expansion of time just allows the court process to continue. It isn’t a guilty verdict. Why would the #SBC @Lifeway be afraid of allowing justice to run its course unless there is something to hide?

When the HMB/IMB brought Dennis off the field do you know who was on the board that year? Paige Patterson My Grandfather was a student at SEBTS under his leadership when I was abused. He asked Patterson for help with my situation but was told that nothing could be done.

A year before Dennis Hale resigned due to abusing minors, @BaptistPress interviewed him as to why revival wasn’t happening in Spain where he was missions director for the Spanish #SBC . How could revival happen when the leader was abusing the kids it was supposed to reach?

The SBC Executive Committee will meet in special session on Thursday, Nov. 16. The announcement comes two weeks after the EC released a statement about an amicus brief in an abuse-related Kentucky Supreme Court case.

Why are people surprised when abuse perpetuated by Christians causes the victims to run from God and the church? Of course they will lash out against the beliefs of those who hurt them. You are not being the good news of Christ by mocking them. You only prove them right. #SBC23

So apparently my sickness wasn’t a virus. I’m in the ICU for a thyroid storm. Doctors caught it before it turned bad. I’m hoping to be moved to a regular hospital room today.

I’ve been sick for seven days. I really need to get better. We are supposed to go see an orchestra on Saturday for my daughter’s birthday. I really want to be there for her. If you can spare a moment please pray for this illness to end so I can celebrate my baby.

Before the SA I was oblivious to a man’s touch. Now, I notice every.single.time and I think about it for days afterwards. My trauma brain constantly replays these—more than likely innocent—events trying to figure out what the touch meant to them & what I need to do to keep safe.

Sometimes I struggle in my desire for #justice . I question if I will have to worship #Jesus in the new heavens and new earth along side the people who ignored abuse. I have found two Bible passages that bring me peace. #SBC

We finally made it back home to Iowa from New Orleans. My kids were so well behaved through the convention and now they are expending all that pent up energy in an epic pillow fight.

Update: A statement from Southern Seminary president Al Mohler on the amicus brief the seminary filed with the SBC in a Kentucky Supreme Court case: "We respect the rule of law and must work through the process with legal representation, who must speak for us in this case."

"Innocent until proven guilty" is a legal standard not a biblical standard. It's good for courts but it's not good for leaders in the church. The biblical standard for the church is "above reproach." Christians are called to God's standard not the government's standard.
