I’ve been thinking about this all day. Particularly, what IS the point of life - what does being human mean? Matthew Parris seems to think it’s only about economic output. A perspective lacking joy, love, humanity. I feel sorry for him. And also his family. So, #DontEraseUs

@matthaig1 Also, one thing I have found is doing one small kind thing for someone else helps me massively. At the moment that's cooking an extra portion of dinner to send to our next door neighbour - gives me great joy.

@ShamezLadhani It’s surely for the parents and families to decide, not you? I personally think it’s far more crass and undignified to try and deny that these children died from Covid. Sharing the person behind the statistic is very important to many people.

@FoxNikkiFox @fefede50 It’s a really scary thought. Feels like we are dodging bullets as it is. If I send both children to school it’s high risk - but if I don’t it creates another risk. For my disabled daughter her therapies are all at school, and her physical strength affects her health too 🙄.

@SGriffin_Lab @TigressEllie @nadhimzahawi @LawtonTri @dgurdasani1 @jneill @Sandyboots2020 @SafeEdForAll_UK @LongCovidKids My heart breaks for her family. And I’m so angry. Angry with the government for doing nothing to protect children generally. And nothing to protect more vulnerable children. And angry at those who think wearing a mask is a big deal. Losing a child, now THAT is a big deal 💔

@IanDunt Absolutely this! @sajidjavid this is what bravery looks like. A girl who can go through repeated hospital trips and still smile like this. As her parents we don’t “cower”. We try to protect her bc you haven’t even tried. She’s 10 so no vaccine. You’ve made it less safe not more.

On Mothers Day my call to action continues. On behalf of all #parentcarers of disabled children. If you do nothing more than see us and hear us then even that would be a start. But if you can amplify our voices - even better 😊 #MothersDay #mothersday2024

@richardodurrant I’m so sorry. When my mum died someone sent me this. It remains the best thing I’ve read even 7 years later. And it doesn’t try to “at least” it away. One tiny breath at a time.

@matthaig1 It relates to a bit of running advice as a metaphor for everything else - the hill looks steep if you look too far ahead so focus on the next step in front of you.

@Oldboatie That happened with my dad. Admitted to a cardiac ward. I went home, felt lousy, tested (+ve). Rang the ward. They didn’t want to test. Persuaded them the next day (it affected where to go on discharge), they reluctantly tested. Positive. No change whatsoever, stayed on the ward!

@MattHancock We are not “out of the pandemic”. All you have done is normalised people not trying to prevent the avoidable deaths and disabilities of their fellow human beings. Meanwhile all core public services are struggling due to staff sickness. That is nothing to be proud of.

@CommonSenseSLT That was exactly my experience. Like after the birth of my medically fragile & disabled daughter and the sudden death of my mum having anxiety wasn’t completely to be expected 🤷‍♀️. I recognise it helps some but I just needed to talk, CBT was brutal for me.

@sajidjavid And how can people take responsibility when you don’t even allow free testing for carers of vulnerable children or their schools?

@VodkaAuntTBH @JazminShah1 I love this. When I first started running there was an amazing guy - when I struggled uphill and ran slowly he said “great, running slowly is better than walking”. When I walked he said “great, walking is better than stopping”. When I stopped he said “great, you needed to rest”.

@awopbamboo @JC_free82 That’s my point. We don’t just pay taxes for the bit of the system we use right now (or indeed ever). We pay collectively to create what society needs.

@nadhimzahawi Whereas what would actually be of benefit would be to reduce Covid in schools. So children can learn without sacrificing their health. And so classes don’t have to be merged or sent online due to staff shortages. #SafeEdForAll

@danielgoyal I think this is true as it was extremely busy. I was just so shocked - my sister had an argument on the phone when they were adamant they wouldn’t test. So a test got sent in inside some slippers 🙄
