Two nights ago. It was late, and I was editing some work. My son comes downstairs and asks what I'm up to. After telling him, he puts his hand on my shoulder and says "I'm proud to be your son" he actually said that. It's been pooling in my mind since. Lovely boy.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I’m Absolutely thrilled to be taking on the role of Children’s Laureate Wales. A huge honour and one that I’m sincerely grateful to be awarded! I’ll do my best in every way. Excited!!

Some Bill Withers for the morning. Still thinking about his beautiful music. This was one of the first songs I learnt on the guitar not too long ago. I'm very much learning (both singing and playing) but enjoying the process. It's good to keep learning. Enjoy your day people. 🌻
I’ve been very sad about the splendid and spiritual soul Professor Benjamin Zephaniah - leaving us. But he has left us with many wonderful things. He meant/means so much to me. I’ll have to say it better, some time soon. Keep shining, at the spirit level. ✨☯️

On the phone to ticketline; The guy asks for my address,
so I say Pontypool. There's a pause.
then he asks if that's where Fireman Sam is from?
I say no, that's Pontypandy, and its not real but anyway. He said its been on his mind for years, where Fireman Sam lived. Now solved.
It’s Black History Month! Here’s a song called Oh Freedom, a spiritual that came around after the emancipation proclamation, freeing slaves in southern American states during US civil war 1863. It’s a celebration of freedom through the power song.

Any violinists in Wales interested in working together? I’m working on a project that really needs some traditional folk-like sounds and instruments to bring it to life. I don’t know anyone who plays the violin, so if anyone could put me in touch, or are interested themselves 🎻

‘I don’t want to write a poem’ or that’s what I thought. But the only way I could explain why, was to put it in a poem. I’m wondering now, if *you* could explain (in a poem) why you don’t want to write.. a poem?
Today we're proud to release Alex Wharton's first poem as Children’s Laureate Wales!
