@RespectfulMemes
I employed a young trans dude whoβs father refused to sign the legal name change paperwork. In Australia you can use a persons preferred name on all employment documents as long as the TFN is correct. So his documents from us were all in the correct name for him.

@VaushV
There was actually a really solid point brought up to me once about the ocean temperature. Water expands when heated, right? Only a tiny bit, but when youβve got 10k feet of it, a 1c rise actually MASSIVELY increases the volume of the water leading to rises.
@_shiopan
Dudes walking round in nothing but fundoshi, but because the colonial prudes were going through their super sexually repressed phase, they had to ruin it for the rest of the world.
@poopepie2
@WholesomeMeme
We sell so many pink and sea foam green guitars in my shop.
I love giving shit to the boomers who complain we donβt sell instruments they want.
@adamliaw
I saw a woman the other day ordering something and asked if it had MSG.
The primary ingredients were tomatoes, mushrooms and soy sauce.
The fact a debunked, racist myth still pervades is mind boggling to me.
@RemedySerenity
@Shark3ozero
@VaushV
Or, an hear me out on this one; theyβre both symptoms of a larger problem that will FUCK with all of us. The hotter the water gets, the more fucked up the weather gets and the more it destabilizes.
@adamliaw
For those who donβt get it, tomatoes, mushrooms, soy such and cheese all have high levels of glutamates, itβs largely what makes them taste as they do. So this woman eats it, but somehow only gets a headache when itβs added in.
@UnseenJapanSite
Meanwhile my apparent autism keeps that one aspect of the ADHD at bay because I have to go through the ritual of the checking of the pockets whenever I leave home.
@RoxyTall
I had my name legally changed at 21 to prevent my family name ever being attached to anyone else. My biological father abused my step mother so much she is a paranoid broken wreck that is constantly in and out of psych wards. The things he did to my mother affected her forever.
@Cats_Culture
Nawwww. Our puppy had one of her eyes removed a little while ago and the socket finally started sinking in. She always looks like sheβs winking at you.
@feederofcats
@memesiwish
We got our white cat Mordecai specifically because no one wanted him and he was on death row. Went from anxious kitten who just always hid, to now deciding heβs a lap cat who screams for his food and demands headbumps whenever I walk past his scratching tower.
@jessejanderson
βWould do much better if he applied himselfβ
Every report card. Even though I was top of the class. My intelligence masked signs as βhe must be boredβ which was part of it, but not all of it.

@BriannaWu
Jesus Christ, I wish I had access to a bunch of money from VC. I had to start my business from literally nothing and started a year before Covid hit. Then I had to try and grow it with no resources, no assets, nothing.
This ainβt just some small mum and dad business situation.
@RoxyTall
So many of my family were abusive and did terrible things. My first Xmas was spent visiting my father in jail.
I became one of those terrible people and even a victim myself. It took years to change and stop the cycle and Iβll be damned if I do the same to my kids.
@AlanRMacLeod
The market is just a line graph of rich peopleβs feelings. Somehow the average person has been convinced that exponential growth in horse traded stocks is somehow making their life better while their wages stagnate because the companies need another 0.02% profit this qtr.
@MarkWittig
@JohnCroman
@OmarFatehMN
And in immediately another competitor sweeps to take up the hole they left through their greed.
Corporations arenβt happy with making money, they want to make ALL the money. Theyβll still be there because itβll still be profitable.
I sold on Amazon here in Australia for a while and it was a disaster. We couldnβt control listings so there were photos of accessories not included. Sales went fine for a few months, then they dropped massively. Suddenly we were getting prompts to start using their ads
NEW: An Amazon customer ordered a hat. She was sent a vial of scorpion venom instead.
That customer, writer Meagan Day, wanted to find out why.
Her investigation exposed why Amazon is now charged with running an illegal monopoly in a landmark FTC suit.
@AdhdAngsty
Due to these and my rejection sensitivity I have effectively no friends these days and no real support network.
Would have been nice to know I had ADHD earlier as it may have prevented this happening to a degree.
@KarolinaZL
One thing I always tell people starting out is donβt be afraid to charge for your work. You need to live, cover overheads and have enough cash aside to survive downturns. You can get more by charging a little extra and getting a few higher paying customers.
@VaushV
It can also be an issue with people who lose social networks as they age. Iβm 36 and used to have many friends and a social circle until I lost it due to an abusive ex. Itβs incredibly hard to establish new connections as weβre older; especially being ND.
@fuckyouiquit
When I told one of my partners early 20s coworkers that she could accept a job offer and if she didnβt like it, just quit, she was shocked. It hadnβt occurred to her because she was told to stay at a job. A probation period goes both ways.
@RespectfulMemes
Our little ball of anxiety seems to thank us every day for getting him off death row. Took months but he went from constantly hiding to now being a lap cat who demands kisses and doesnβt stop purring.
@skolvikings
@jzellis
Oh god, the βcrony capitalismβ argument is so dopey. Seriously, thereβs a reason we had a gilded age and have entered a second one; the system is working as designed.
Without legal frameworks to keep them in check, without decommodification of human needs, it will get worse.
@fuckyouiquit
When thereβs non stop WEEKS of sales in the holiday period, itβs fatiguing and the end result is the same as deflation. People wait for a better bargain or just donβt spend.
That and, you know, many of us are being crushed under the current economic realities.
@theetwelfth
@poopepie2
@WholesomeMeme
Old dudes lose their shit at any of the pastel colours despite them being super popular custom colours back in the 50s and 60s that they do list after.
They also lost their shit when I posted a (fully legal) job ad and encouraged applicants who werenβt cis dudes to apply.
@KarolinaZL
You either do high turnover, low margin, or higher margin, low turnover. A small business is typically better with option two, especially a one person shop. Iβve seen too many in my own industry thinking they have to gut their price to get customers. Then they burn out.
@ZekeWritez
Thatβs insane. Iβve got a few mates who are magicians and even when you tell people exactly what to do, some of them donβt follow it exactly and it can get very dangerous.
An event I used to help run had an incident that almost burnt the building down because of such stuff.
@RightWingCope
No way this canβt be a joke or something. Nobody could actually do this in the real world and not just completely die from being laughed at so hard.
@RespectfulMemes
From death row at the pound, to complete snuggle bug. Heβs had some issues that needed dealing with that cost a few grand, but heβs worth every cent.
@davenewworld_2
As an Aussie this is wild. Like, a dude lost his life over some cash. Some random dude just pulled a gun out and robloxed him. In Australia he could have been charged with manslaughter as self defence must meet the reasonable force test. Doubt this would have.
@memesiwish
Theyβre all in the massive stack of images on my phone. Might have to start posting them on my page and shit. Hereβs another one in the meantime.
@HumansNoContext
Iβm now 36. That was me at 25. Still donβt own a house and never will, but at least Iβve now got a nice piece of cheese in the fridge so thatβs nice.
@gib_gab
3 miles between the wheel and where the windscreen meets the dash, only Peter Dinklage can sit in the rear seats, and the bed can fit an entire 2/3 of a bike in it.
Totally serious vehicle.
@purplepingers
Pretty sure in NSW the building code stipulates how far away a toilet must be from the kitchen and that it has to have a door. Might be wrong. Even if I am, doesnβt change the fact that this is fucked.
@theserfstv
Ummm, whatβs weirder is that every second person I see whoβs Tweeted about it seems to have deleted the post. Like, I donβt imagine every person wouldβve deleted them as theyβre mild takes.
Heβs truly having a meltdown.
@opinonhaver
@dj_ir0ngruve
Iβm just reminded of this whenever I hear about people complaint how their taxes are spent.
If there was a way to show people how much they saved on the cost of something vs how much they paid in tax, then the messaging might stop the erosion of public services.
@dieworkwear
@SeamusBlackley
Eh, will disagree with you on this one. Go beyond fashion and hand made, a $30 pair of boots wonβt last near as long as a $300 pair. The Merrells I wear these days last years longer than the $30 ones I used to wear when I was very poor. I also donβt have feet as sore.
@adhdjesse
Take that and multiply it by huge numbers and thatβs me. 5 things that are all time critical? Canβt figure out which to start with? Seems to hard? You know what time it is!
Freeze up and do nothing!
@PaprikaGirl_JP
@UnseenJapanSite
As someone who was the victim of sexual and domestic assault by a female partner, yes it is a problem. Less stigma will help, but that means for everyone and changing society overall and calling out trash people like this. This is just misogyny and does nothing for male victims.
@AvidCommentator
According to the in laws and their friends, we need to just work harder and sacrifice to get ahead.
Meanwhile, weβre paying $575 a week for a one bedroom unit and the chances of saving for a deposit are non existent and even if we did, the repayments on anything would kill us.
@DBertha583107
@ArtistAffame
Yes, there are many people who can't afford them. Additionally, not every woman uses tampons. Some use pads.
Seeing as you think they're so cheap, then surely the cost to institute them free won't be a big hit to the coffers.
@davenewworld_2
Charter Schools are a whole other level of wrong in an already unjust society. Bad enough we have private schools here in Australia, but at least theyβre beholden to some level of standards and enrollment levels, not to mention they canβt really discriminate.
@RemedySerenity
@Shark3ozero
@VaushV
Depends on where you are. To the people of the pacific where my family is, they can deal with 45C weather. Kinda hard to do it when thereβs no land though. Also, the rising sea levels mean more salinity in soil reducing crop yield.
@UnionDrip
My fiancee is working Boxing Day here in Sydney at the Apple Store and getting $60 an hour. The union went in hard for the latest contract and they got some good shit out of it.
@FloPlatford
@LorraineMccfly
All these landlords in here crying about they have the right to do whatever they want. Maybe they shouldnβt? If landlords didnβt exist in the numbers they did, then maybe properties would be affordable enough for more people to buy and not worry about being homeless.
While itβs not as cheap, a sandwich like this from Coles is well beyond any konbini sando. Japanese sandwiches are mid. Whereβs the flavour in the bread? Whereβs the filling?
If they managed to start making sandwiches like this, then theyβd be unstoppable.
@fuckyouiquit
Interest rates goes down and property value goes up? Rent needs to go up.
Interest rates go up and property value drops? Sorry, your rent needs to go up.
Itβs a lose lose situation for all but the asset class.
@SessmaruAkanagi
@RoxyTall
Iβve done some terrible things that I will regret the rest of my life, but thankfully I was able to eventually get out of that with help from others to see what I was doing was wrong.
I wish it had happened sooner.
@ClaireMax
Fuck that noise. When I was a photographer I would have never said something like that.
Like, itβs different if someone is bringing a posse but having a person or two with them was kinda the norm.
I feel this in my soul. Every day shit gets worse and itβs everywhere, not just the US. Weβre drowning here in Australia as the rich get better, the economy is supposedly great but we see none of the benefits.
Iβve had moments like this more regularly than Iβd like to admit.
@AntonyGreenElec
What a lovely place to be where a man charged with historic child sexual offenses can still get voted in. Iβd expect this type of thing in the US, not here. I suppose I give conservatives too much credit.
