Finally managed to get a Schengen visa--valid for 1 year. Which means I'll be able to present in Europe for this entire year 😃 Academics with strong passports should appreciate how lucky they are that they won't have to go through this stressful process every year!

@LudoGazze Definitely a longer visa duration (of 5 years or more), similar to what we get for the US, would make this process less painful. Some people get week-long visas, some get only a few months. Tbh, hybrid conferences are not useful for networking.

@arubhardwaj_ I'm talking about getting visa *appointments*. You also need to travel to the country you applied to first; otherwise, you won't be able to enter other countries. So, you have to pay for extra flights, hotels, etc., for no reason.
