Pro-abortion activists fighting for reproductive justice across Ireland, with a particular focus on north west & rural areas. Follow does not = endorsement.
Last year it was reported that only 10% knew how to access abortion in NI following decriminalisation in 2019
We want to change that and we want you to help us! The power to help each other get the care we need is in OUR hands 🤝🏼

thank you for your support in our traumatising, draining and difficult work across the island of Ireland to gain abortion rights.
Oh. You're not doing that at all? You're *targeting* Irish feminists?
Irish feminism is proudly trans inclusive and always will be.

38 years ago today Ann Lovett gave birth, alone, in the freezing cold, in a holy grotto in Granard, Co. Longford. Both she and her baby died. We remember you always Ann and fight in your memory 🕯
We commend the bravery of Nicola Gallagher and are heartbroken for her.
For too long the
#GAA
has sheltered abusive figures & swept violent toxic masculinity under the rug (e.g. Mickey Harte sex attacker character reference).
@Doiregaa
must lead - remove the county manager now.
Having read Rory Gallagher's response where he weaponises substance abuse issues (likely a coping mechanism for his abuse), a reminder that our institutions are built by patriarchy to enable misogyny.
We strongly stand by this statement.

So amazing to have
@jeremycorbyn
voice his support for abortion rights and for Derry for Choice. It’s these moments that keep us going and give us strength!!
Today we remember Ann Lovett who on this day in 1984 died in the freezing cold, alone, while giving birth in a holy grotto in Granard Co. Longford.
Never again. 🖤
Did you know that today was the first explicitly pro-choice majority vote ever recorded at Stormont (excepting safe access zones)??
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

let's stop pretending anti choice advocacy is a valid political position or belief worthy of debate.
It's simply misogyny and violence against people who can get pregnant.
The public have rejected anti-choice politics & reps.
We have always had abortions and we will keep on having abortions.
In the olden days, we mixed mugwort and pennyroyal. During the Troubles, we had abortions. Today we share pills and hold each other’s hands.
We will always have abortions.
We are receiving many threats and aggression both in person and online about our abortion stigma and pills workshop yesterday.
We are now even more convinced of the importance of sharing information and education about abortion access and care.
We won't be censored.
Thanks so much everyone - especially all the locals - for supporting our GoFundMe. We have a half page advertisement in
@derryjournal
today so pick it up and show it to everyone in your bubble!
Michaela Harte was murdered in an act of violence against women. It is sickening to see that horrific act compounded by sectarian misogyny today. We need to start looking at - and changing - the toxic violent patriarchal behaviours we are tolerating in our communities.
Ireland’s first recorded abortion was in 650AD - carried out by none other than St Brigid - upon meeting a woman in need, “Brigid, exercising with the most strength of her ineffable faith, blessed her, caused the foetus to disappear without coming to birth, and without pain.”
🌸 Abortion should be decriminalised.
🌸 Abortion should be: as early as possible and as late as necesssary.
🌸 Abortion is healthcare and should be free, safe, legal and local - with telemedicine access.
🌸 Everybody loves someone who has had an abortion.
Important and essential viewing on BBC1 at 9pm tonight and tomorrow with Three Families telling the true experiences of abortion in Northern Ireland in the 2010s.
Please tell everyone you know to watch this important biographical dramatisation.
💐 82% of people in Northern Ireland agree abortion should not be a matter for criminal law.
💐 89% of people in Northern Ireland believe a woman should never go to prison for having an abortion.
💐 71% believe it is a woman's right to choose whether or not to have an abortion.
😭😭😭😭😭
Everyone should have the right to free safe legal local abortion care and to access this care free from intimidation and stigma. Today we are a step closer to this in the north. We will never stop fighting.
Now for the south!!!

NI MLA Candidate survey on Abortion (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2020

Candidates left blank have not responded to our requests. Please let us know if you can get an answer and we will update.
Guys - we’ve done all we can do. We’ve tiktoked, researched, held hustings and been a thorn in the side of every conscience candidate across our wee country lol.
This was a team effort and for every person who interacted, helped, annoyed and stood firm be so proud of yourselves!
Anyone else thinking about how Sarah Everard was coerced into a police car because of Covid restrictions and meanwhile those ghouls were having parties and laughing at us?
Thank you to all sending supportive comments of solidarity. Here in Northern Ireland abortion has now been decriminalised but services have not been commissioned due to political inaction.
This means that people are still travelling, still enduring hell & still procuring pills.
🧵A very quick scan of the data reveals that we now have 22 ‘conscience’ MLAs who have committed to voting in favour of the Abortion (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2020.
Combined with SF’s 27 seats, that will make a 49/90 or 54.4% majority of ‘pro choice’ MLAs in Stormont.

Heartbroken to see our message of support for those in our communities who have had abortions - funded by a crowdfunder - has been vandalised.
Deeply concerning and stigma-inducing that these people want to hide the fact 1 in 3 women will have an abortion in their lifetimes.
Let us fix that for you -
If you're pregnant & scared, there are other voices here in NI who want to force you to give birth and will purposefully misinform you of your options. So you don't have any choice and will be shamed. You matter.
Avoid rogue agencies like this! ⏬️
If you’re pregnant & scared, there are other voices here in NI who want to help you choose life for you & your baby. So you don’t have to choose to terminate. You both matter
Tomorrow with sisters in UK parliament we will seek ways to assist with tragedy awaiting US women. In UK abortion rights have progressed but in almost all of UK, a woman's right to choose as I have done each time I was pregnant is still written in criminal law. This must change.
Reminder for today - we own the narrative here. Don't let anyone or any group unnerve you. Ignore the trolls and stand strong together. We are on the right side of history. Let's do this! ✊✊✊

Regarding
#Census2022
we can 100% say with 100% certainty that 100% of the people in Northern Ireland are being categorically failed by the lack of commissioning of abortion services compounded by the cost of living crisis.
Hi all, we are receiving DMs from people going to Derry V Armagh on Sunday about making a public show of support for Nicola Gallagher.
If you are going to the game and want to be put in touch with others please DM us and we will create a private group.

in the north now.
On this day 50 years ago, 343 French women made history by publishing an open letter in a popular french magazine declaring that they had all had abortions, which were illegal at that time. They defied the stigma and silence that surrounded abortion.
Looks like Paul has gone on a blocking spree. Genuinely all we ever asked was his position on the 2020 Regs.
West Belfast be warned.

What you have done as Green MLA has had important, lasting, meaningful change here. From attempting to designate as feminist when you were first elected to being a voice for radical just transition and equality. You’re our heroine, a voice for working people and you will be back.

A wiser decision from
@JoeBrolly1993
would have been to have given his column platform to Women's Aid this week. Including voices of DV experts in a sports supplement would have been a very helpful action.
We will never forget you Ann.
"Ann was very sharp, very witty. She could hold her own, she could stand up for herself, about what she thought; she was able to back it up. She was brilliant at drawing. She was intelligent. She was also loving and caring and kind."
🚨🚨Urgent notice to those in the Causeway Hospital area. There are extremely distressing imageries outside the premises. We've had multiple messages from people this morning in absolute despair that this is allowed to continue.

This is BEYOND insulting. It is insulting to:
✊🏼 the 532 people who had to travel to England for abortion care during the pandemic
✊🏼 the 1 person a week that contacts us for help because Swann/DOH won’t run a public awareness campaign on how to access abortion in the North
Well done to our very own Health Minister Robin Swann who has been shortlisted as Politician of the Year at the 2022

awards.
The awards will be held later this evening in London.
A lot of discourse on abortion this evening from those with very little understanding it has to be said..
Here’s the tea ☕️
Abortion is a social good.
Abortion is healthcare.
Abortion is freedom.
We love abortion.
Just a gorgeous evening to show off our beautiful billboard on Free Derry Corner.
We love and stand with those who have had abortions, those who will have them - and all family, friends, and support networks.♥️
Toxic sectarian misogyny - single mums being attacked and frightened out of their wits in Northern Ireland, 2023.
Add this to more women murdered in NI by domestic violence than anywhere in western Europe.
Where is the help for mums + kids enduring this? This is not a one-off!
Hi Gary, can you also please comment on the weekly intimidation of women at the Waterside Health Centre by anti-choice terrorists and let us know if you support protective barrier zones for service users?
Speaking on
@BBCRadioFoyle
this morning about the disgraceful intimidation of pregnant women attending the vaccination centre at Foyle Arena. It is unacceptable that protesters entered the centre and shouted abuse at those in attendance. I urge anyone with info to pass to PSNI.
We are disappointed (to say the least) with the
@sinnfeinireland
amendment to Paul Givan’s anti-choice bill
What this means is that the day when services are finally commissioned, abortion in the cases of foetal abnormality will become illegal
