I love this shift in the section title with the updates to the General Handbook. Changing “Transgender Individuals” to “Individuals who identify as Transgender” may sound like an unnecessary linguistic shift, but I think it can teach us something about this issue.

Grateful to see this clarification added to BYU’s honor code. Even though I thought the original language was clear enough, some still found overly complex justifications for same-sex romantic behavior on campus. Division will always exist, but clarity leaves less room for it.

The doctrine on the family isn’t going to change. That’s a hard, painful reality for some to accept, but I also think it’s a vital step for all Latter-day Saints, especially those of us who experience same-sex attraction.

Good on SUU for keeping Elder Holland as speaker. Loving our neighbor requires listening and seeking to understand their perspective. It does not require affirming their perspective. A cynical minority misrepresented his previous talk. SUU not caving is a positive thing.

We’re always talking about what changes need to happen in the church. I have one. Let’s install a spring-loaded floor to the pulpit. If anyone’s testimony becomes cringy, political, or too personal, the bishop can pull the lever and propel them into a ball pit off to the side.

We’re better than @TheExMoCringe Christ had righteous indignation when clearing the temple, but he didn’t engage in playground insults. Christ called out hypocrites, but he wasn’t demeaning. Christ didn’t have tolerance for evil, but he disputed it with dignity, not malice.

If you don’t believe in the reality of the Restored gospel, I can see how this might rub you the wrong way. If you do, this should be a baseline truth. Fighting against what you believe to be God’s prophets won’t help your child. Using the prophets to point them to Christ will.

Meet Milo, our son born at 24 weeks. He always became more active in his isolate when we would get to the NICU & he’d hear our voices. We miss our little guy every day. I’m sure your situation was awful, but bad situations don’t negate the value of life.

Even though I’m gay, the nuclear family structure has been rather intuitive for me. I attribute much of that to the wisdom found in the family proclamation. Our culture taught me that masculine traits were worth discarding. The FP convinced me to cultivate my masculine traits.

Critics are taking this to mean “never take any advice from any non-member ever.” But in context, it obviously means “never look to non-believers for spiritual advice” which of course is good advice. You wouldn’t go to secular Jew for advice on how to thrive as an Orthodox Jew.
