I want to share images of this old shojo calender VIZ handed out back in the day at conventions that I've held onto. I think its really interesting to see that they didn't advertise certain series at all, like Red River, while some got two months such as Boys Over Flowers.

Went to the used bookstore today and can't believe what I found!! Kamisama Kiss 25 limited edition with the Kamistravaganza book for 20 dollars!!! 😊 I also got Kimi Ni Todoke 23-26, 28-30. I left 27 though because that was priced at 40 dollars lmao 😵‍💫

Just finished Emma and it met my expectations perfectly - I already knew it was going to be great because it's Kaoru Mori. Her attention to detail is wonderful, and if you love historical fiction you must read her work. I'm so thankful @yenpress reprinted this series!

So I've gotten 2 out of the 3 Wotakoi final volume variant covers (still waiting on my Kinokuniya order), but one thing I didn't realize from photos online was that the B&N exclusive was going to have the heart be raised and foiled (its foiled on the spine as well).

I finished Blue Giant and what can I say other than it's a 10/10. I was blown away! The way Ishizuka draws them playing, you can feel the emotion behind the movements, the characters motivations. I want to see where Dai goes next, please @gomanga I hope you license Supreme!

I just bought Prince Freya and could not put it down. And when I finished what I had, I had to get volume 6! It's so good and can't recommend it enough. I feel like it does such a good job of balancing the story, the romance and the characters.

Its been awhile since I've really binged a manga but I couldn't put Usotoki Rhetoric down! I always love a Showa era setting. And I found Kanoko and Iwai to have good chemistry and play off each other well. I can't wait for volume 7 as Iwais backstory is starting to unfold!

Got something in the mail yesterday that literally made me cry. Having Magical Pokemon Journey in my hands means so much to me. This was technically the first manga I ever read when I was a kid, I used to get it from the local library. I'm really so happy to have these!!

Mermaid Scales and the Town of Sand is beautiful - it's in all the little details that Yoko Komori draws. As I was reading I felt the same intrigue about mermaids as Tokiko. I would love to see more works by Komori and highly suggest picking this up! Made available by @VIZMedia

I get that manga series go out of print at some point. But you also can't be dismissive of new readers, or long time readers changing tastes. I think some companies understand this and see there is a huge demand for CERTAIN titles. I don't think everything needs a reprint.

I FINISHED LIBRARY WARS 😭 It was so good! The politics were really interesting but the romance drove it home for me. How can you not root for Iku? And I can see why she fell in love with Dojo. This might be one of my new favorite shoujo - I can see why people love it.

This is extremely condescending. To just say if you didn't buy it 13 years ago there is no way you should have a chance. I know a lot of people are saying they were too young at the time, but even if you weren't, you might not have had the finances or knew about the series.

It's so clear people want shoujo, the Honey Lemon Soda announcement is one of the most liked announcements from YP (after Oshi no Ko which I know people are really passionate about and that was a huge title to announce).

This is a little late but here is what I read in August! I was also reading Jennette McCurdys book and finished that! I binged quite a few things. For a moment I wasn't feeling well, and I'm glad I saved CCS because it was like seeing old friends again and comforting for me.

Hmmm. I'm just speculating but I wonder if all these price increases will really hurt the manga market. I know Mangas been booming but I also think it's been cooling off a little lately too. Plus I think more people are feeling a strain from the economy in general.

Here is everything I read in February, plus Sand Chronicles 1-8 (digitally). Really loved Ice Guy & The Cool Girl! Mothers was beautiful. I have a lot to say about Red River but I'm still trying to organize that, lol. Even though I felt I was struggling to read I read a lot!

After reading this, I really feel the weight of losing Ashihara. I hope she can rest in peace. I am thankful for what she has given us, and really enjoyed Sand Chronicles. I recommend this series to you, even if you're hurting, because seeing Ann be able to heal is empowering.
