Goal setting suffers from a serious case of survivorship bias. We concentrate on the people who end up winning - the survivors- and mistakenly assume that ambitious goals led to their success while overlooking all of the people who had the same objective but didn't succeed
In my 3rd year ,while looking for internships, I realized being a practising engineer in Kenya might not be the dream. By my 5th year, during my Engineering Law class, it became clear why so many engineering graduates in Kenya don't hold the 'Engineer' title
Wueh! I am drained! I'm still thinking about this guy who interviewed me and told me I am a nobody๐ค. I really hope his subordinates are doing okay because the flags were quite red.
Hello guys ๐,
This is an exploration of my latest Landing Page design for a Charity Platform called Her Wings Kenya.
What do you think? Let me know your feedback on the UI
This project by Mr.Arduino caught my attention. Euro truck driving using Arduino Uno!!
He also had this other 4 dots project. Cool.

I kept asking for the rest of my pay of around 2 months and the HR called me in for a meeting telling me I was pushing for that money a lot, which wasn't painting a good picture. " It looks like you're only here for the money."
Imagine attending a movie premiere, but instead of a cast, it's a UX Conference with a cool lineup of speakers . I loved the movie posters๐คฉ.
UX Copenhagen was nothing short of amazing. Here's to impacting the world around us as UX designers ๐

There's a disconnect in practising emerging technologies as well. If I am doing IoT / AI & ML, the body should encourage that, not expect me to go fix conveyor belts in a manufacturing industry for several years for me to be granted the title.
The stringent regulations and bureaucratic hurdles set by the engineering boards make it incredibly difficult for many to meet all the requirements, discouraging a lot of individuals from pursuing the title.
I'm genuinely asking this because it is not the first time I have come across posters and kept wondering who was behind the designs. DeKut has a vibrant community of students who are graphics designers in their respective student clubs. They would do a great job given the chance.
What else do you ask people you have just met at a tech event apart from stack, work, school? The conversations are getting monotonous. I think I ran out of conversation starters
I had to remind myself why I took engineering in the first place. I found that my skills are highly transferable and opted for careers in tech, business, or other fields. At the end of the day, it's using your skills for a greater good.
Many engineering students were not fully aware of the requirements and steps needed to obtain the Eng. title until later in 5th year. That class was an eye opener, but it broke hearts๐
Seems like I bit more than I can chew on that getting started with Data Science. Someone point me towards bite-sized tutorials and learning path guides. We try again tomorrow.
There's also the issue of mentorship. Those we see using their skills & also mentoring students don't hold the title. Most I've asked just talked about the regulations hindering them. The EBK webinners I attended in my undergrad didn't talk much about that as well.
This has to be the biggest project and team I have worked with in UI/UX design.
We've been sent back to the drawing board so many times and I learn something new with each revision.
I'm glad I jumped onto this.
I'm thrilled to have been selected as a

ambassador.
Here's to growing with the community and building a world where women can thrive in tech.

There was no public participation while you drafted and proposed this bill. You've just been sneaking it through the back door without even involving the said tech community. People fought this idea last time, but here we are again, self-appointed Robotics representative.
When applying for a remote role, at what point in your application do you let them know you're a student?
Resume?
Cover letter?
Interview stage?
You know, so that you can talk about getting off days for exams?
I knew I wasn't curved out for this when I was sweating and couldn't read my neighbour's answers(left) while the guy to my right was even flipping this dude's booklet from across the table๐

To the best of my knowledge, these tickets have really helped campus students and others who would otherwise not afford to pay for some of these events. Food is also very important. Wazidi kuflex๐ if that's the case.
I got my WTM ambassador swag to officiate this!๐ I'm loving everything in this box.
Well, here's to building a world where all women can thrive in tech

Anyway, I've done a couple of things, but I am looking for a product designer role. Kindly refer me to such opportunities. The earliest starting date is January. Thanks.

Hearing that there are no vaccines for newborns while Gachagua wants 2.1M for laundry just broke my heart. Enyewe ignorance is bliss coz the more I know, the angrier I get.

We can not keep on saying "let's talk" when we've given them enough time to act, but all they've been doing is eating and stealing. They know exactly what they're doing and need to be stopped. Once they've gone home, then maybe we can talk with whoever is left.

Grief has a way of catching you off guard. You think you're okay, but then a memory flashes through your mind that sends you to an even darker place than you were before.
In 2016 I covered the story of Mary Kibwana, a domestic helper working in Jordan whoโd come back to Kenya with grotesque burns. When I interviewed her at KNH, she was in so much pain sheโd dissociated, speaking of herself in the 3rd person.
These are not the jobs we want.
We were discussing having a support system and that one person who you can be raw with about your struggles in tech. Heck, a shoulder to cry on. Sometimes they double as your mentor, other times it's two different people.
How did you meet this person/people?
I really loved this idea of having expos and booths. It gave people a practical example of the technologies out there. The games were also a great platform to network and have fun while at it. Great work
