Happy to announce that my Coaching Mentorship Programme (CMP) is now live!
I've spent around the last 4 months working on this and running the course the whole way through with some people.
This is designed for aspiring professional coaches but open to all! 👇
Boaster is the most successful IGL
in valorant history.
He is constantly sharing tips on his success
I watched every stream, interview and vlog, so you don’t need to.
Here are 5 lessons you can learn
from
@OfficialBoaster
👇👇👇
Gentlemates are the first
European team to win ascension
beating the favourites Apeks
in the grand finals
Here’s 3 things they used
to DOMINATE on Haven 🧵
2/ Positive mental attitude
You cannot find a single photo of boaster unhappy
He’s always entertaining and joking around
Not only is he a great player, you WANT his positivity around
He talks here about
why you shouldn’t have time for negativity
Nice to see some variety in compositions again.
I think we are at a time where anything can work, if you play it right.
A little reminder for players/teams:
Your problem is almost never your composition, you just aren’t playing it well enough.
How to play attack
A thread 🧵
The three main types of attack rounds:
1/ Executes
2/ Fakes
3/ Manipulated plays
We can also play defaults, where we hold and then punish, but they generally end up into some sort of manipulated play.

‼️ATTENTION all of my analyst friends!‼️
I have just finished developing version one of my scoreboard reading tool.
This python tool will turn scoreboard screenshots into csv files to save you all that annoying time just copying the data down.
Please find the link in comments.
3/ Study the game
You have to watch the top teams to know
how to play the game at the highest level
Once you can copy enough stuff
and learn the patterns
You will figure out how to
make your own, BETTER, stuff
(OG documentary is the SHIT too. A must watch.)
1/ Never give up
This is long but knowing Boaster’s back story is ESSENTIAL to understand his success.
Boaster started playing CSGO in 2015, competing in multiple B-tier events. He retired as a professional player after 4 years, never making it to tier 1
4/ Go above and beyond
Hard work, discipline & drive
are essential for success
There are so many quotes from boaster on this
But I think this clip says it all
listen to what he says here
He probably expects to do more in 4 days
Than most people do in 4 weeks
It took 6 years to make it from tier 2, to tier 1.
The takeaway:
Don’t look at where you will be
in one week or one month
but in one year or three years
It takes time, tenacity and hard work
To make dreams come true
He briefly transitioned to league of legends as a substitute and vlogger for excel, continuing to pursue his esports dream
In late 2020 he finally entered valorant, quickly joining SUMN FC
This team would go on to become Fnatic in February 2021
IGLing is easy to over complicate
You do not need to micromanage every piece of utility
Give a direction, enough so your team understands your vision for the round
Mention zones, pacing and steps
What will you do to win the round?
That is enough
Keep it simple.
5/ Be a brand
Know how you want to be perceived
This is your brand
The way people see you
in ranked
on social media
on stream
will become how you are known
Brand image dictates your career prospects.
Yinsu and Boaster talk about this more here
Happy to share my Valorant Fundamentals Framework.
This is a guide to aid the learning and development of any valorant player.
This tool should give you an idea of all the different topics you can and should learn about to improve as a player.
🧵👇
I recently sat down with
@keikofps
to talk about his career, progression and meteoric rise.
I think this is one of the BEST interviews I have done.
So much actionable advice.

@OfficialBoaster
to introduce Keiko for you!
Been a little while but the next podcast episode is up with

@G2Tibalt
It’s rare to sit down with two world champions, a must watch.
We talk about EVERYTHING a player needs to grow, both specifically in game changers and more broadly. We go into detail into
@YinsuCollins
I am the first person to be critical of casters (albeit not on social media) but you have been nothing but impartial across all of your many appearances in Valorant.
Honestly, if I didn't know you and
@OfficialBoaster
were a thing, I couldn't tell from any broadcast.
I have dedicated YEARS to analysing gameplay
to help YOU figure out your mistakes
and how to fix them
Here’s my step by step process
for what to look at
when you VOD review

This cerebral element also applies to anyone playing sova/fade (“revealer”) or kayo.
Although not essential at lower elo, at the highest level you have to be willing to remember a huge number of lineups – just a selection of them are show in this video.

As an aspiring pro, do you think it’s important to play ranked?
I’ve changed my mind many times over the years, but this is my current perspective.
Playing ranked is essential.
A couple of important points I do want to recognise:
1.ranked can be an awful environment,
HUGE announcement today!

I’ve teamed up with performance expert
@JerradG
to deliver our guide WIN over tilt 🧵
What’s next for me?
Having played relegation twice consecutively, surviving once and losing this most recent time I have decided to take a bit of a step change in my approach.
As many of the players have alluded to this team has had its own challenges internally which have
Last week I had the opportunity to sit down with

Communication is an essential part of team games
but most people do it wrong
It’s not about how much you say
but how you say it
All you need is the three C’s of communication🧵
Fundamentally there are three types of skills you have to train:
1/ Mechanics
2/ Decision making (util,positioning, etc)
3/ Communication
If you neglect one it will hold you back
You must train ALL of them.
4 hours of kovaaks and 0 VOD reviews, ain’t going to cut it.
1/ Good culture
This is the absolute foundation of everything we build within a team, and is what determines how long you team will survive and how far it can go, but what does it really mean?
The Lencioni pyramid is a great start for team culture.
They key parts are:
- Trust our teammates
- Don't be afraid to debate/conflict with each other or say each others mistakes directly
- Be committed to the team
- Hold yourself and others accountable for being on time, performance, etc
ZERO-COST PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY
I am looking for 1-3 more people (players or coaches) to regularly work with on their performance.
Ideally I am looking for people already playing in VCL/VCT that want to take their performance and career to the next level but I will
Last day of bootcamp.
Been an absolute blast as always, so proud to be a part of this team and amazing organisation.
Hyped to share everything in my vlog!
Looking forward to the
@valleague_dach
season 🔥
Double upload this week!
In my most recent discussion I sat down with
@TeamVitality
's flex player
@DestrianVAL
Another MUST listen!
- How to be a good flex player
- Useable advice on how to comm properly
- How to build a team culture
and more!

2/ Retakes
Planning your retake is essential
This one isn’t new but
it is executed exceptionally
It is so good because it:
- Splits focus
- Breaks crossfires with util
- Abuses hard cover
All of these things give you
an advantage into each fight
With
@tiehkay
moving to the Team Manager position we were in need of a new Coach for our Valorant team!
We are happy to announce that we found the perfect replacement in
@_Aplox
!
Welcome to the team and we look forward to working with you 🪐
Last week I sat down with
@keikofps
One of the most IMPACTFUL interviews so far 🔥
So much relevant advice for aspiring pro players
from someone who's done it.
Who has made their dreams a reality.
Here's a sneak peak at the next episode 👀
TLDR;
To be a successful duellist you must:
1/ Be confident in yourself
2/ Be unpredictable
3/ Be creative and take risks for your team
4/ Know when to go kill and when to play safe
In the latest episode of my podcast I sat down with
@mousesports
coach
@kundikundiVAL
to talk about his journey, esports tips and learnings
Really insightful discussion with so many details from Jiri
Some absolutely KILLER advice in this one...
A MUST WATCH!

Last week I sat down with
@LohaN_vlr
to talk about all things valorant, coaching and esports.
We talked about lots of stuff, I will link the full podcast below but I wanted to share some of my favourite parts👇
Reasons this is good
1. You isolate some of the enemies
2. util only needs to support in one place
3. you are playing together
4. you have crossfire with retaking teammates
They do the same thing here
3/ Trust
This is a huge one.
You can see their trust with a few things:
- Their cohesiveness
- Lack of hesitation
Rewatch each of the clips
They are not SCARED to die
Trust in the plan
believe your mates will trade you
Execute together
Latest episode of my podcast is NOW LIVE🔥

Lovely gift from my research group upon completing my PhD ❤️
Happy to announce that, following minor corrections to my thesis, I am now
Dr Alex Porter
Pretty proud of this one to be honest, this was a big grind 💪
First of all, STOP FLEXING. If you aren’t immortal yet you need to learn to play the game.
This is much easier if you stick to one role, and play it REALLY well.
I tweet a lot about what you need to go pro, knowledge you need to have,
the hard work you MUST do,
but it's your motivation & vision that drive you
Having a dream matters🔥
In fact, a dream is necessary.
Marketing yourself as a player is one of the most underrated skills.
No one will pick you up if they don’t know who you are.
They can’t even give you a trial if they don’t know you exist!
Especially if you’re a player that brings a lot of skills to the team, off the server,
⁉️Analysts ⁉️
💭Imagine you could just click a button and grab the whole scoreboard and time line info into one file💭
This functionality mostly exists within
#VALORANT
already.
Surely there’s no downside, for riot, to adding a button to simply export this data?
As you can see in this clip BBL do an early reveal on A. With this info they take C long space, giving them an early advantage
Early arrows are important as they maximises our opportunities to arrow in a round.
The more we arrows we use, the higher potential value we can get.
Something has to change in the attitude of players in EU ranked.
Why is it that in NA we can get shot-calling like this yet in EU the second someone tries to call something:
People respond “Shut the frick up” or “stop tryharding”
1/ Protocols
“If the enemies do X then we do Y”
Planning ahead like this makes
everything so much easier
Think: “what if they…?”
One example is choosing which space to play in, when the enemies execute on you
For example, playing A-short on haven👇
