2016 Harden is far from the only example of these criteria being used to disqualify players. In 2020, Trae Young averaged 29/4/9 and Beal put up 30/4/6 but neither of them made All-NBA because they lacked team success, so why should it change now?

The reason was because his team underperformed. The Rockets finished as the 8th seed with a 41:41 record (.500). The Lakers are currently 31:44, which means even if they win their last 7 games of the season, they would still finish 3 games below James Harden's 2016 Rockets.

The stats are very close (Lebron more rebounds, Harden more assists), Harden has a better ON-OFF impact and Harden's team had a better record. So if Harden was disqualified in 2016, then why should Lebron be considered for All-NBA this season? Is it because he's 'Lebron'?
