Southampton based Junglist. Lover of football, F1 drum and bass and my family of course. Account primarily related to football index justice and redress!
Football Index was a platform that was authorised & regulated by the Gambling Commission in 2015.
The platform allowed consumers to purchase a “bet” for a 3 year period. The winnings were based on a scoring algorithm based on positive media stories & on pitch performance with
HOT OFF THE PRESS! I have just been told by
@ElliePittTV
that ITN at 7pm tonight are showing the feature on

on the main news tonight that we have been working on! Please watch, share, retweet and tag. Let's get as many tweets as possible!!
#footballindex
stuff coming up.

@GamRegGB
&
@andrewjonrhodes
5) Gathering further evidence - ongoing.
Stay Strong Community!
Right a
#footballindex
update from me. Yesterday I finally completed my letters to DCMS and FCA Complaints process. They have both confirmed receipt and now I wait to hear the outcome. The evidence of wrongdoing from the original licence decision through until, well today funnily
Busy day yesterday with
#footballindex
stuff. FOI received from GC. Email to GC. Call with
@Begbies
and other various admin stuff. 11 months later and the fight goes on!
It has been a pleasure to work with
@ElliePittTV
&
@itvnews
the last 6 months to get the coverage on
#footballindex
that victims deserve. So difficult to get the story across in a 15 minute feature but Ellie did amazingly well to get the message across. The amount of work
I am delighted to confirm that I am discussing
#footballindex
with
@SoniaPoulton
on Wednesday 24th January at 7.40am! This won't be the last I promote this but please tune in and support where possible!!
#footballindex
- an update.
I have had quite a bit of personal stuff on the last 3 weeks so been doing my FI stuff but not really been updating:
1) I have written to both the FCA and GC complaining about their conduct relating to FI. They have both acknowledged receipt
Time for a monthly
#footballindex
update. Despite the lack of posts on Twitter
@fi_action
remain busy behind the scenes and FOIs continue to eventually be released despite the Gambling Commissions best efforts to hide the truth. These are still work in progress.
So the Gambling Commission have always stated they never approved the "go to market" trading feature on
#footballindex
but a re-examination of the Sheehan Report and FOI documents suggests otherwise. A thread below:
Massive thanks to
@Greg_Wood_
for a long call with me last week to discuss where
@fi_action
are 3 years after the collapse of
#footballindex
and the fight that still goes on!
Loads going on behind the scenes with
#footballindex
with
@fi_action
- we had an update call with Begbies who will be preparing for the final court case to determine how the stake money (the pittance that is left) will be distributed. Whilst it is a court decision the creditor
Right working pretty much full time on
#footballindex
stuff this week now we have a new Minister. Letters being sent. Other project going really well. More to be shared really soon. Keep the Faith!
Right a
#footballindex
update without much tangible news but the last couple of weeks have been very positive in terms of progress. I will be in a position to give more information in the week before I go away on 19th July. But after a bit of a lull over Easter and Bank Holidays
Busy day with
#footballindex
today. Letter sent to the Treasury. Don't try and fob me off. Introducing traders to TV production company. Revisited the Sheehan Report. Some interesting stuff to share with Leigh Day. Questions for the GC after our meeting with the rest of FI Action
On the day that a coroner found that multiple state failures with regard to gambling regulation I joined 2
#footballindex
customers who lost life changing sums of money who discussed the impact with their respective Conservative MPs
@andrewjonrhodes
So since October 2015 when
#footballindex
was "licenced" the FCA has levied fines of £1,213,717,777 and in the last 3 years the GC has also raised £80,595,377. A total of £1,294bn. 10% of that total would compensate customers and not burden the taxpayer.
I discovered
#footballindex
in August 2018 and loved the concept and the community. My banking career was coming to an end due to a decade long battle with Chronic Fatigue caused by long hours and stress. This has caused a range of physical and mental symptoms and I decided to
Lots of activity this week by the
@fi_action
Team. From meeting Labour MPs to requests for further information from relevant authorities and regulators the fight for
#footballindex
redress has had a positive start to the New Year, Thanks to
@RuthCadbury
for raising a question!
Right back on the
#footballindex
journey for justice today with a zoom call at 11am and another tomorrow. Letters to be sent next week all leading up to the Parliamentary Debate on November 21st.
#footballindex
and
@fi_action
have had to deal with a lot of shit since March 2021 but for me to wake up to an incredible email from a leading Solicitor for free is the perfect start to the day! Perfect timing as well.
So I have the final report from the FRCC responding to my complaint about
@TheFCA
handling of
#footballindex
and there is nothing in it that should prevent redress. It even recommends action that I suggested to
@StuartAndrew
6 months ago regarding opinion as to whether it should
I'm not going to lie this
#footballindex
legal review is taking it's toll on me. My head hurts and I feel stressed....but I now know what I need to do and how to do it. Only taken 2.5 years!
Right earlier than I wanted to tweet about it but
@mattzarb
has helped me arrange a session on
#footballindex
in Parliament in the Autumn. It's a big opportunity for us and
@fi_action
will be using the time between now and November to make sure this session is as effective...
So how did the
#footballindex
"Bohan Bounce" occur in January 2021? Was it increased sentiment with a new CEO and a promise to do things rather than talk about them? Of course not, it was good old market manipulation! So how was this able to happen?
The strength of character, resolve and assistance the
#footballindex
community has shown over the last 18 months is a credit to us all. If regulators and government had demonstrated a fraction of this we wouldn't be in this mess. Thanks to all the accountants who got in touch!
2 good calls about
#footballindex
last 2 days and great to see
@spfootballindex
too.
@fi_action
will be in touch soon regarding actions we will ask you to undertake with your MPs to maximise coverage of the Parliamentary Committee Hearing on 21st November. Keep following!!
Right now depressing January is out of the way it's time for a
#footballindex
update! Loads has been going on behind the scenes as always. Slow but important progress has been made obtaining FOIs from Gambling Commission. Virtually every piece of info obtained helps build a case
I think I have got the right information in the right order to seek a legal opinion on
#footballindex
so time to type it up & give someone else the headache now! Fingers Crossed
Thanks to everyone who supported yesterdays tweet regarding the new
@Greg_Wood_
article in
@guardian_sport
regarding
#footballindex
- I thought I would remind everyone about this story and the warnings
@GamRegGB
had about what would happen.
If this is a genuine
#footballindex
review on Glassdoor and you have details on actively trading against traders accounts then please get in touch with
@fi_action
or I. Please retweet and get this viral.
So on 30th April the rescheduled All Party Parliamentary Group into
#footballindex
has been arranged from 2.30pm to 4pm. I will be questioned. I have a volunteer who is an ex-customer who has been impacted. 2 Journalists have been invited and accepted and we await 1 or 2 more.
After a 2 and a half year gap I have today written to the
@hmtreasury
&
@TulipSiddiq
in her role as EST regarding
#footballindex
and the final report from FRCC received this week. We are working on something to bring it to the attention of the wider MP community for next month
Finally a court of law has dispelled the myth that COVID contributed to the collapse of
#footballindex
with this statement below. Thanks The Eagle for the spot. My next job is now to prove that this was not "a novel gambling product"
@DCMS
@StuartAndrew
but a....
Come on
@TheFCA
let's go to court and argue whether
#footballindex
was a regulated product. Your only defence is this was a sporting spread bet. Which you regulate anyway. Absolutely disgusting way to treat people you are supposed to protect!
in May there has been a fair bit going on behind the scenes. I know the timescales are frustrating but look at other scandals such as Post Office and Woodford Fund. These things take time and it's not a lack of effort or competence by your
@fi_action
I assure you! Stay patient!!
Time for a
#footballindex
update from me. Personally I've had a lot on since the last update and I'm not the only member of
@fi_action
in the same boat with Easter Holidays and multiple bank holidays etc
Our
#footballindex
case is now at a stage where our efforts need to be directed at MPs due to the regulators failures. The GC for regulating it in the 1st place. Legislation then not allowing them to act properly. The FCA not acting for 22 months. The subsequent gaslighting
So I met my Conservative MP yesterday to discuss
#footballindex
face to face and he was very understanding and liked the idea of regulatory fines providing recompense rather than a local taxpayer who is facing a cost of living crisis!
#footballindex
broken down into numbers. £124,254,610 stolen. Index linked that is £162,480,433. FCA fines since 2019 £1,479bn. So redress would cost less than 11% of fines raised since FCA should have taken action. Govt spending this year £1,226trn or £139m per hour.

➡️🧑⚖️Judge has ordered disclosure of all DCMS private emails with Sheehan QC relating to report into regulation of BetIndex
➡️⚖️Judge found public interest favoured disclosure of this information, believing FI users were entitled to see it

So I've just had a DM from a

victim who has received a victim of crime call from his local police force and that they are investigating the allegations. Plus the police officer was a fellow customer. If you feel you are a victim then do raise with
@actionfrauduk
Holiday over. Back on
#footballindex
planning with
@mattzarb
to get this back in the public/MP eye this Autumn. Still waiting for a response from FRCC re FCA which is expected during holiday season. Hopefully tie up both these shortly & provide more info. Keep following!
Please find a link to my own youtube where my pirate copy of my conversation with
@SoniaPoulton
on
@tntradiolive
regarding
#footballindex
can be found until the official video is uploaded. I assume this is ok as a temporary measure!
So
#LCF
were operating a
#ponzi
@StuartAndrew
and this product was unregulated. Redress was provided.
#footballindex
was regulated and the products sold are under the remit of
@TheFCA
so why 3 years later am I still awaiting an answer from
@dcms
- given up before the election?
Right the bin lid is back at school so I can finish off some
#footballindex
stuff in the pipeline based on research and info
@fi_action
and I have obtained over the summer.
#wefighton
So we know from
@GamRegGB
&
@Begbies
that
#footballindex
had £40m in cash in March 2020 when the pandemic struck. A year later they had £12m left. Calculating cashflows means they spent £45m of stake money on expenses. Not dividends. Expenses. All whilst being "investigated"
An interim
#footballindex
update from me. I have exchanged emails with DCMS and have been promised a response to my letter in the 2nd half of January so hopefully just over a month now. FRCC may be longer but they are updating me on a monthly basis.
I believe today marks 3 years to the day since the
#footballindex
announcement and the crash and demise of the platform. I can confirm that I have just responded to
@DCMS
proposing a solution to provide closure to the
@fi_action
campaign, at least under this present Government
For those that missed the coverage of
#footballindex
on
@itvnews
it should be uploaded to YouTube later maybe with some extended bits too. There should be updates on the ITV Website too. This is just the beginning
The positives from todays town hall debate on
#footballindex
shouldn't be diluted by the appalling inaccurate response from
@HuddlestonNigel
at the end who needs to look at
@GamRegGB
data to show that COVID had a positive impact on the profit that quarter.
Right so I believe all of the relevant Ministers are in place who are relevant to
#footballindex
so I have commenced congratulating them & updating where I am with various stuff. FCA have delayed their response to FRCC again which I have flagged with MPs too.
So whilst
@TheFCA
weren't bothering to protect consumers of
#footballindex
who believed that
@GamRegGB
regulation was worth something they were active with investigations that raised £568m for the treasury in 2021.
#addresstheredress
and compensate us due to regulatory failure!
Right
#footballindex
followers will know I have waited over 11 months for a response from the FCA. It arrived yesterday. Normally I know immediately what my next action is when I get new info. I am still considering next steps with
@fi_action
& others so when I can update I will
5 minutes research this morning
@HuddlestonNigel
has debunked your inaccurate response about why regulator fines and settlements cannot be used as
#footballindex
redress. If you are going to lie then at least make it a good one and a challenge for me!
Don't forget that
@fi_action
are working on a project to bring
#footballindex
back onto the radar of existing MPs and the 100s of new MPs after the election. I will support any individual requests when and where I can but we will be rolling this out towards the end of October
Writing a letter to the Gambling Minister with evidence not included in the Sheehan Report. It's a long letter which proves that the
#footballindex
report was a sham. It's also hard to remain calm & focused. What a joke the GC are. Why don't you retweet this and tag your MPs in!
Right I've been a bit quiet on
#footballindex
the last couple of weeks for a variety of reasons and am conscious that I have DM's and emails that I have not responded to. Mojo back now so gonna get back to you all and get ahead of the game b4 new PM is elected. Fight continues!
FRCC confirmed yesterday that FCA hadn't asked for an extension to the draft report in response to my
#footballindex
complaint so hopefully they will respond today (deadline) and I can share the final response regarding the FCA actions and mostly inactions soon.
On behalf of
@fi_action
and I a big thank you to
@LeighDay_Law
for everything they have done over the last (nearly) 2 years. It is not their job to prosecute the Directors (unfortunately) but to assess the likelihood of a claim to recover assets from Directors to attempt to repay
The wonderful
@SoniaPoulton
has invited me onto her show on Monday morning at 9.10am to talk
#footballindex
and the report into my complaint about
@TheFCA
more details to follow including how you can watch/listen in!
I hope everyone has had a good Xmas. With January right around the corner here is what I have planned in the New Year. 1) DCMS have promised me a response to my complaint letter regarding the GC in the 2nd part of the month. 2) FRCC emailed me yesterday with my 28 day reminder..
DMs are open. Use me in Zoom Meetings after Easter with MPs. I can provide letters and evidence for MPs. We are in the final straight now. We need to push for a further review, a select committee to get these issues further into the open and make a redress decision a no brainer!
Don't forget Mike Bohan was there from the start. He created
#footballindex
he was CEO and announced the Q&A after instigating insolvency proceedings, lied to the VC that invested into Index Labs about Nasdaq, denied services to Betindex after asking for £1.3m to keep developing
Tracked down Mike Bohan, CEO of Football Index when it went bust with £124m of customers’ money in open bets. They’re still waiting for answers about what happened. Full story here:
So
@DCMS
are looking to unlock £880m for social purposes from dormant assets but don't think £124m of that to redress
#footballindex
customers who were failed by 2 government regulators is a good use of public funds.
I've always thought April 2020 was the pivotal month for
#footballindex
which is weird as that is the month they held the largest cash balance. They had already commenced the spend on Hadron so were committed. So why did Bohan attempt to sell his house? Was he trying to disappear
Before my interview tomorrow I am also catching up with
@LizTwistMP
and her team to discuss
#footballindex
in preparation for a Westminster Town Hall Debate arranged for 24th April which will be streamed or televised! Busy Busy!!
There was over 12,000 GB users of
#footballindex
with over £1,000 in open bets when the platform collapsed. That's an average of 18 constituents per MP. Please spend 60 seconds of your time completing the template letter to raise awareness.
So I can see a few of you have had the email from Leigh Day. It does appear disappointing on 1st read. That's how I felt after the call last week. However, we are at a stage in a journey. The email is therefore an update. Not positive Not negative.
So I was due an update after 4 weeks from FRCC yesterday which didn't arrive. Maybe the delay in deciding whether
@TheFCA
lied to me about
#footballindex
is due to this email I sent them this week?
Loads going on over at
#fiactiontowers
with FOIs and letters being received. Using the next 6 weeks wisely to hit the ground running on 5th July when the new Government are in and get them up to speed with the scandal that is
#footballindex
6) I remain committed to the cause but depending on what happens this week to that idiot Truss and whether this leads to another change in cabinet will determine next steps. Hopefully I will receive responses to my letters to Ministers soon.
Good use of time attending the
#footballindex
hearing today v HMRC although sad that Begbies have to fight to increase the pot by a measly 2% against the government effectively. Some useful bits of information for me to save for later when required.
On gambling commission branded literature here is confirmation they knew about the
#footballindex
insider trading & manipulation of the product a year before the platform was suspended.
I've had a few messages about an update so hear goes. 1) I will always update where I can immediately. I think I have proved that over the last 3 years. 2) We are working on a few things. FRCC emailed last week to confirm they are still working on the final report. Which is fine
1st call of the day regarding
#footballindex
completed with
@LizTwistMP
who is continuing her support for the victims. This debate has been arranged and will be televised next week. It took us all by surprise how quickly it was requested and agreed so please please take...
as well before the shit hit the fan. Cole sold up in August 2019 and has covered his tracks. Ciaran Rowan has got away scot free but he is as corrupt as the other 2. I am committed to finding out what happened despite the best efforts of regulators to cover their arses.
Biggest scandal to hit the "gambling" sector with 1000s of consumers losing £124.5m fleeced by
#footballindex
overseen by ineffective regulators = 6 week report and no consumers met. How to improve libraries? 9 months with 9 roundtable sessions. Priorities
@DCMS
@StuartAndrew
We are lucky to have
@mattzarb
advising us. Not only does he give his time, experience and knowledge but has also backed
@fi_action
financially when there are costs to be paid. I wanted to publicly acknowledge this at this time. A little more patience is required please!
