🚨🚨Calling all sleuths! 🚨🚨
I am making MY OWN INDIE GAME under the working title PROJECT SQUEALER! In this action-packed RPG, a disease called Laughter Pox has plagued the town, and it's up to three kid detectives to investigate!

Venue Changes has been updated for High School Years and Copperdale!
This update lets you CHANGE THE LOCATION OF THE HIGH SCHOOL AND AUDITORIUM! In addition, it enables club gatherings on those lot types! (Note: This only moves the lots, not festivals)
You can create fully staffed multi-purpose lots and more in
#TheSims4
with the brand new Spawn Refresh mod! This completely overhauls how spawning on public venues works, and even lets you make NPC-owned hotels and other accomodations!
A lot of packs don't have any wants or fears, and it seems they didn't even convert every pack's whims. There are also no fears from other packs. It looks like we'll still need to use mods to complete the experience.
That was... underwhelming. It took 40 minutes to actually show a wedding, and it was revealed that there's no consequences for not performing the activities. A lot of TS4 feels more like a movie-making tool than a game, but it REALLY shows with this pack.
Your Sims can become investigators with The Sims 4 Investigations Mod Pack, currently in development! Research, spy, rummage through trash, hack and more, to determine who is innocent, and who is the culprit!
By popular request, I've created a mod to fix an issue preventing player-made teens from spawning at high school. This also makes the game equally favour Sims assigned to each class. Those issues are directly related, so it's not possible to fix only one.
Is it just my imagination, or do Sims gameplay YouTubers not tell stories like they used to? In
#TheSims3
and early
#TheSims4
era, people would come up with detailed stories and act them out in The Sims. Now, most videos just showcase pack features or are strictly goal-based.
I've begun work on the new version of active elementary schools! The system for for school "schedule" in High School Years is rather complex, but I think I have it figured out.
If there's ONE thing
#TheSims4
needs fixed more than anything, it's simulation lag (where Sims just stand still before performing interactions). I've had multiple times where I've been completely thrown out of the mood because of it.
Less Lot Type Restrictions has been released! This mod allows you to have Residential Rentals on Sulani Waterfront lots. It also allows you to change the lot type of currently owned businesses.
IT'S OFFICIAL! THE SIMS 5 IS CONFIRMED! Yesterday's patch added code to ui.ui_tuning for an in-game list of features and a link. It should hopefully be announced soon!
Today I learned MCCC has a feature that has the game import the appearances of Sims you downloaded from the gallery instead of generating random ones (under Population>Import Tray Settings). As soon as I found out, I downloaded about 50 households!
I've remade my More Club Icons mod with OVER 1000+ ICONS, which includes icons from newer packs as well as icons from older packs (and the base game) that weren't included before! This version also makes the icons available for holiday traditions as well!
I'm not sure how to feel about the horses EP... it's not *bad*, but there are other things the game needs more, especially since we already got animals with Cottage Living. I would have preferred hobbies, or a new business type since we haven't had one in a while.
I hope this is more than *just* weddings. An entire Game Pack dedicated to one event that happens about once per generation would be really underwhelming. Hopefully this also includes an attraction system, dating improvements, and new interactions.
I still don't understand why The Sims team didn't just add a colour wheel to begin with. It's a standard feature in many 3D shaders. Create a Style is more complicated and costly to performance, but there's very little reason to not even have a simple colour wheel.
High School Years allows us to send Teen Sims to high school. Now you can send your Child Sims to Elementary School using the same system with Go to School Mod Pack V5, now in alpha!
This is an alpha, so not all planned features are added yet.
I tried to make a mod that would revamp the date system in
#TheSims4
, with the hope to expand it to other events as well. Unfortunately, it didn't go well, and made me realise why we don't have more complex events or certain features like hotels (a thread).
Not satisfied with the number of options Cupid's Corner gives you? I've released a mod to change that! Cupid's Corner Tweaks offers:
- Unlimited use of the "Refresh Matches" button
- Significantly more random Sims
- Up to 20 contacts per day
When I first saw "dormitories", I wondered if they updated university dorms to work with the pack, but now I'm wondering, what if there are a whole load of options for customizing which types of Sims will autonomously rent a lot, with students being one of them?
Multi-units galore! 🤩 With the new tool, you can build your next property in any livable world 🏠 We're talking townhomes, duplexes, in-law suites, condos, dormitories & more with
#TheSimsForRent
✨
I've created a mod that fixes sports-related bugs in Discover University >>>
With the mod:
- Sims will gain Fun from attending games
- Child Sims are able to attend games
- Child Sims will build the Motor skill from playing with the soccer ball
Because of how popular this has become, and because of how much content there is, I've decided to release this early as a test version. It should be ready by tomorrow!
#TheSims4
Simvestigations mod has been released! Take cases, interview Sims, spy, rummage through trash and more to determine who is innocent, and who is the culprit!
I'm determined to be able to create multi-purpose lots, so I decided to give creating the mod another try, and it's working better this time. Here's a sneak peek: all of this is happening on the same lot.
I think
#TheSims4
needs an equivelent of the collection book for food and drinks. There are so many recipes in the game, but no reason to go out and try them all. I'd love it if there was a reason to buy unique food from stalls or spend money on expensive drinks.
NEW MOD: Define your Sims with greater detail with The Sims 4 Simology Mod Pack. Assign emotions to activities, music stations and TV channels, choose weaknesses and set a default emotion >>>
Want your Sim to have an opinion on everything? Now they can with this new mod that gives you unlimited* Likes and Dislikes (*technically, it just sets the limit so high you won't ever reach it).
Ready to build your own custom elementary schools for the new version of Go to School? I've just released the Builder Tools mod, which unlocks the lot type early!
It includes a built-in checklist of all required and optional objects!
@sunflowerheart0
Yep, that should be possible :) I'll look into adding a config file that will let you manually specify how many Sims you want. I've never done one before, but other mods have, so I know they're possible.
I see the icon for setting lot traits/challenges has moved from being next to the Lot Info icon to being next to the Unit Info icon. Could that mean we can set traits per unit?
Did you know
#TheSims4
's Build Mode has a "Styles" filter? It's been here since the base game, but it seems most people have forgot about it. I assume it will be useful with Dream Home Decorator.
I'm still disappointed that Wants and Fears weren't added for older packs. They could have breathed new life into older features, but instead, they just made them MORE forgettable.
Positive High School Years fact: If you complete one of the school projects from Parenthood and then attend active high school, you'll still receive the extra performance. The pack in general has horrible cross-pack compatibility, but at least they remembered SOMETHING.
I appreciate how university in
#TheSims4
is actually challenging and you aren't guaranteed to complete all your goals. I hope they apply this level of challenge to future packs!
Discover University is like the opposite of Island Living. There's so much content that it'll likely take days to experience it all, and it isn't all exclusive to Britechester. You can even have your "university" in a different world if you want!
I hope we get more "everyday" CAS content in a future pack or update. No high fashion, just simple t-shirts and stuff like that. A lot of the base game content is hideous compared to the newer pack content.
Discover University is the first step to fixing
#TheSims4
's Live Mode. The next thing we need is a hobby system or an overhaul of the traits system, and some hobbies to do outside university.
Want to make Sulani into a destination world? Now you can with a new mod >>>
I've also added mods for Del Sol Valley and Strangerville, which weren't there previously.
I just learned that the Interior Decorator career is completely broken (reportedly with the High School Years patch) and it's not a mod issue. This is something EA should really look into fixing since it's the main feature of a pack.
EA seems dead set on the idea that most Sims players just want to create themselves and play a replica of their actual life, but I know very few people who actually play that way. Are the people in the community really such a small minority?
Unless I'm missing something, selling on Trendi doesn't seem to have any effect on fame. That's something to add to the list of ways HSY integrates poorly with other packs.
Schedule Festivals Yourself has been released! This mod for
#TheSims4
disables all festivals and lets you re-schedule them with the Seasons holiday system. Supports City Living, Island Living, Snowy Escape, Cottage Living and High School Years!
The game needs more consequences and failure states. I'm tired of the whole "you get rewards for playing, but nothing happens if you don't" attitude. If my Sims throw a lousy social event, they should feel sad, and possibly face other consequences (like lower relationships).
For those wanting activities from multiple venues on a single lot, my Spawn Refresh mod allows for that! It overhauls how Sims spawn to be based on objects rather than lot type, similar to how it worked in The Sims 2.
Journey to Batuu is even worse than I originally thought... not only is the gameplay all scripted and non-sandboxy, but we can't even customize the lots? If we're lucky, bb.enablefreebuild might work, but even then they'd still be shells.
After much tinkering with the
#TheSims4
UI code, I managed to get social events and activities to show in alphabetical order. I'll probably release it as a separate mod sometime after the patch (I'm 99% sure the current version will break, so it's just a test for now).
One thing I'm really looking forward to in
@ParalivesGame
is how in-depth the career system is. You have to build skills and take temp jobs BEFORE you can get your dream job, just like in real life. It offers so much storytelling opportunities.
Follow your Child Sims to school with the update Go to School mod! New features include an in-game option to change the number of students, milestones, guest speakers and even FIELD TRIPS!
I was not expecting this tweet to blow up this much! I can tell how much people really want this feature, so it will be the first thing I mod when I get the pack.
Just think what Wants and Fears could do for
#TheSims4
if they're implemented right...
Traits will actually influence gameplay. There will be an actual reason to make friends besides storytelling. Obscure features you would otherwise forget existed will have a purpose!
Wow, the support I'm getting for this has been OVERWHELMING. I didn't know people wanted a feature like this that much!
The mod should be released later today, unless I discover last minute bugs :)
Organized Event Planning has been released! This mod sorts social events and activities alphabetically, making the Plan a Social Event dialog easier to navigate!
The mod is almost ready! I'm mainly focused on testing now. I don't know exactly when I'll release it though. It's a bit too close to the patch to release it this week.
I'm determined to be able to create multi-purpose lots, so I decided to give creating the mod another try, and it's working better this time. Here's a sneak peek: all of this is happening on the same lot.
One thing I loved about
#TheSims2
is if you didn't fulfill your Sims' Wants (or fulfillfed their Fears instead), you'd face the consequence of your Sims going into aspiration failure. That added some challenge!
I'm hoping to finally finish and release my Simvestigations mod soon, either this week or next. I probably won't be adding any more major features. I know I said I wanted to add integration with snooping from For Rent, but my enthusiasm for the game is low right now.
Did you know you can host yard sales in
#TheSims4
if you have City Living, Jungle Adventure and/or Eco Lifestyle? You can also use this to simulate lemonade stands, among other things!
I noticed kids don't build the Motor skill from playing with the soccer ball, and I think that might have been an oversight. I'm creating a quick mod to fix it.
EA has officially acknowledged
@ParalivesGame
in the sign-up survey for The Sims Labs!! (Of course, it's not even out yet, so obviously no one other than people who worked on it have played it)
Wow, so they're running ads for this too? All the more evidence that this is going to be huge. At this point, if it doesn't announce
#TheSims5
, it would have to announce at least TWO packs/major updates to be worth the type.
In the game code, there's a hidden trait related to dislikes that blocks the Sim from most positive emotions. Maybe it WON'T be possible to just drown out negative buffs from dislikes with good decor.
Is it just me, or has the hype around
#TheSims5
announcement died? It's hard to find any new thoughts or videos about it, and very few people are talking about the fact that playtesters are apparently playing it right now.
Are Sims who attend active school supposed to never have their grades increase even if their performance is full? I'm working on Go to School and thought it was a bug, before I realised high school has the exact same problem.
This looks more like a successor to The Sims Mobile than The Sims 4... Also, I have a gut feeling they're going to sell in-game currency for real money. Looks like Paralives is going to be the series' spiritual successor.
Something that worries me about
#TheSims5
is that from what we know so far, it seems to be coded entirely in c++. c++ is infamously NOT mod friendly. This could spell the end of script mods, or at least significantly limit them.
You can create fully staffed multi-purpose lots and more in
#TheSims4
with the brand new Spawn Refresh mod! This completely overhauls how spawning on public venues works, and even lets you make NPC-owned hotels and other accomodations!
Wow... another EXPANSION PACK this year? That was totally unexpected! I thought there might be a *small* chance of a Game Pack, but I was absolutely not expecting an Expansion Pack!
Confession: I still haven't played through the Strangerville story. I'm worried it's going to be a one-time experience so I keep putting it off until it's just the right time (which never comes).
The game needs more content for Child Sims that *isn't* tied to what they'll become later. Even Character Values from Parenthood are useless if you play with aging off.
More Selectable Icons has been updated with icons from newer packs, all the way up to High School Years!
Furthermore, it now supports SimTuber Avatars (High School Years) and Lifestyle Brands (Get Famous)!
