Between 1979-1994, China was a weak fiscal confederation. In 95, central govt’s revenue only made up 10% of the total govt revenue, and the local governments had revenues unreported to Beijing: 86% of the total govt revenue! Done by de facto local taxes uncontrolled by Beijing.

Polish colonization of indigenous Belarusian and Ukrainian lands. Settler colonialism agitated the 🇧🇾 and 🇺🇦 peasants to read the situation in national terms, fostering strong 🇧🇾 and 🇺🇦 national identities. Polonization also meant fake bilingual schools and religious conversion.

This graph shows the socioeconomic factors' (income, property, education etc) impact the willingness to marry and have kids with the other person. 1) Chinese women focus a lot more on the material wealth than men. 2) High overlapping of the two preferences - unusual in the West.

Yes sorry ChatGPT has become my Russian teacher. I think it is one of the cheaper but interactive ways to learn a new language at an elementary level now. It also corrects your essay and explains it sentence by sentence and summaries the grammatical points you need to learn.

There must be a reason why real existent socialists seem to have never been good at economy management? Why don't I see any leftist sociology article tackling that, except preaching "radical democracy" against technocracy in every corner of our life?

@pseudoerasmus @thesvs1 @gabriel_mathy @ULojkine @Kumar_EconIneq @jeaujanres @avgevorkyan I do think that there's something to this arg, but also that it overlooks how the Cuban state effectively nukes its own infrastructure in the 1960s through mismanagement. The Soviets didn't make Cuba destroy its coffee sector or mismanage its light industry sector into the ground

What's the conclusion? The young Chinese face huge competition at school and don't wish the next generation to suffer the same. Having kids means not only expenses but also pressure from patriarchal marriage to "complete all the tasks". Radical solution: no kids for any of us.

The only way Biden can secure the re-election and make America great again is to consolidate the American people around the Biden core, practice Three Supports, Three Loyalties, Four Modernisations, Five Good Five Evil and Eight Disciplines as shrined in Biden Thoughts

The fact that "hekim" doctor is from the same root as "hükümet" government shows the Arabs from early on had the same philosophy as Foucault did a millennium later: political and medical power emanate from the same regime of power and their way of doing shows one governmentality

My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best

Eliminating babies alive has been an honoured tradition of the left-wing land-back revolution, along with taking hostages. As many commented, brutality is unavoidable, stemming from the structural violence of the society. Real leftists should back such "looting the looters"!
