I 🖤 this poem - over a thousand years old, written by a Saxon walking through the bones of a ruined city (probably Bath) & imagining who built it. The people we wonder about who lived & died millennia ago also wondered about the people who lived & died millennia before them

Hi new folk! I'm an author who debuted this year when @warhammer gave me the chance to write 40K, a setting I've loved since I was a kid. The result = tears & terror (from both me & readers) + Tyranids 😂 I also 🖤 birds & cocktails but sadly neither feature in Deathworlder.

How did you first find @Warhammer ? I walked into a store 20 years ago after a library painting demo - I came for LotR but stayed for 40K😂 The Chaos Lord was one of the first things I painted & Space Marine/Ravenor got me hooked. Loved the community & made lifelong friends! 🖤

I grew up on library books.* New books were special gifts in which my mum would write a message to mark the occasion. It's taken 30+ years but I've just written her a message in a new book with my name on the cover. I'm very happy🖤 *Support libraries - they grow writers!

Guard remain a favourite Warhammer faction for me to write due to the perspective they offer. In Nightsider Imperialis (including Deathworlder's Khan + Adair) I wrote about a Nightsider soldier from a dark world, part of the setting I find v intriguing.

Here's one of the reasons the Tyranids are so scary in Deathworlder. He's called Leonard 😂 He's the main muse for their uncanny motion & absolutely alien unpredictability. Although thankfully, Leonard can be pacified with millet, which holds zero sway with most Hive Tyrants.

What was your first encounter with 40K fiction? 💀 Here's mine- this being the very copy of Space Marine I read in Mumbai nearly 20 years ago - a psychedelic experience (was the feverish humidity from the page or the monsoon? 😂) Ravenor & Eisenhorn followed & I was hooked! 🖤
