There have been 17 games in NBA history where a player has 25+ points, 15+ assists, and zero turnovers.
Nobody has done it more than once except for Tyrese Haliburton, who has done it three times since Nov. 12, including tonight.
Unreal.
Pritchard said he challenged Oladipo in exit interview. Had Chad Buchanan play Milli Vanilli as he walked in then said, "That's the biggest one-hit wonder. Are you a one-hit wonder?"
Oladipo's response: "No, I'm Michael Jackson."
Wow. Nate McMillan says Thad Young was supposed to sub back in in the fourth quarter but Myles Turner and Domantas Sabonis were playing so well that Thad note Nate, "Let them go."
Tremendous leadership from the
#Pacers
captain.
Pacers are on pace to end up with 10,000 points & 2,500 assists this season. How rare is that?
Only 6 NBA teams have ever scored 10,000 points (last to do it: 1983-84 DEN).
Only 4 NBA teams have ever had 2,500 assists (last to do it: 1984-85 LAL).
No team has ever done both.
Myles Turner blocked this shot on the same basket where Roy Hibbert was sitting courtside wearing a Turner jersey. It was also the same side of the court and the same side of the basket as Roy's block on Carmelo 11 years ago. Such a cool moment.
Lance Stephenson had an incredible analogy today when asked why he tones down his theatrics on the road:
"When you're at home, you can do whatever you want. You're in your house. You can go in your refrigerator...When you're away, you can't just go in somebody's refrigerator."
Per Pacers PR, Duane Washington Jr.'s seven 3-pointers tonight are a team rookie record.
Chuck Person and Chris Duarte each had a game with six threes.
I don't even know what my opinion is anymore in the LeBron v. MJ debate, but this stat is so misleading. Jordan played six playoff games against Boston in his career. Tonight was LeBron's 38th playoff game against the Celtics.
Victor Oladipo is planning to attend the IU-Purdue game tomorrow, his first game back at Assembly Hall since turning pro:
"I'm going to be talking big smack, so all you Purdue fans who cheered for me tonight, you don't have to cheer for me tomorrow. I don't want you to."
Pacers host Bucks tomorrow. Nate McMillan was asked if he had any advice for first-time father Giannis Antetokounmpo, whose son was born Monday. His response:
"Enjoy. Take all the time you need...Don't rush to return."
ESPN+ had three writers "rank their top 25 players under age 25 based on future potential" and these are their ballots.
No votes for Myles Turner, who is still 22 and leads the NBA in blocked shots?
Victor Oladipo is just the second player in the NBA this season to have 30+ points, 10+ assists, and 5+ steals in a single game.
The only other player to do is James Harden, who accomplished the feat on Nov. 9 vs Cleveland.
I get irrationally frustrated about how many more games the Raptors have played than the Bucks and the weird anomaly it creates in the Eastern Conference standings.
.
@Original_Turner
on the
#Pacers
crowd tonight: "The place just erupted. We were going crazy on the sidelines.
"It's something that I was expecting and it exceeded my expectations. I've been here three years. This was probably the most fun game I've been a part of."
Just FYI -- This video has never featured an active NBA player for the six seasons I've worked for the Pacers. Granger, Jermaine O'Neal, and others were just added last season for 50th anniversary.
The Pacers just showed a long video going through all the greats in their history -- Wayman Tisdale, Chuck Person, Dale Davis, Jeff Foster, Jalen Rose, Reggie Miller, etc. Paul George was not included.
Rick Carlisle just met with the media for the final time this season. Said this time last year they had an internal meeting that laid out a plan to reach the conference finals in 3 years. They did it in one.
Tyrese Haliburton is first player in NBA this season to have 15+ assists and 0 turnovers. Only other players who have done it in the last decade: Chris Paul (6 times), Rondo (twice), Westbrook, Lillard, Schroder, Ben Simmons, LeBron, and James Harden.
So Victor Oladipo loves Disney.
#Pacers
are 3-0 in games in this series broadcast on a Disney-owned channel (ABC or ESPN) and 0-3 in games not.
Game 7 is on ABC. Just saying...
There was absolutely nothing surprising about Tyrese Haliburton being named an All-Star starter, which says all you need to know about his meteoric rise to superstardom.
My story ⤵️
Myles Turner had an interesting nugget today at
#Pacers
practice. Said he and Darren Collison watched filmed together recently and worked out some new things in the pick-and-pop.
Turner's scoring and Collison's assists both up significantly over the past 5 games.
One of the craziest things I've ever seen just happened. Cory Joseph got a fastbreak and-1, then the four other
#Pacers
players (Oladipo, Thad Young, Sabonis, and Lance) all ran in unison side-by-side the length of the floor to celebrate with him.
This team is TOGETHER, man.
Victor Oladipo was asked at shootaround what it feels like to play in the playoffs: "No disrespect to Christmas, but it's the most wonderful time of the year."
Tyrese Haliburton is 3 points and 1 assist away from being the third player in NBA history to have 20 points and 20 assists in consecutive games.
Magic Johnson did it on Dec. 18 and 19, 1984.
John Stockton did it on March 1 and 3, 1990.
Pacers players with multiple 33+ point games in the playoffs:
Chuck Person
Reggie Miller
Jermaine O'Neal
Paul George
Pascal Siakam
*Pascal Siakam still has 9:17 left in his 2nd playoff game as a Pacer
Asked Rick Carlisle about the evolution of the NBA since his last stint as Pacers head coach and he brought up the importance of social media, including team accounts.
Big fan of this man.
#Pacers
win and Hornets loss mean Indiana can clinch a playoff spot as soon as Wednesday. Here is what would need to happen:
DET loses tonight at SAC
DET loses tomorrow at PHO
IND wins Wednesday at NOP
Some personal news - I haven’t been really keeping up with NBA free agency because I’ve been focusing on the greatest offseason acquisition ever.
Welcome to the world, Sawyer Lynn Hotchkiss, born July 2 at 3:41 PM. 20 inches, 6 pounds 6.8 ounces. No word yet on her wingspan.
Asked Jeremy Lamb what the message was in the Pacers locker room at halftime tonight after a sluggish first half.
Lamb’s response: “Run off that turkey.”
I cannot overstate what a genuinely good guy Victor Oladipo is. I wouldn't wish this injury on anyone, but man do I feel for him. Hoping for good news.
Pacers have already hit eight 3-pointers and now some kid in a Roy Hibbert jersey just banked in a halfcourt shot to win free Chick-fil-A for a year. Everything is falling.
I, too, saw the Yahoo NBA tweet. Not going to quote tweet or reply to it because they don’t deserve the engagement.
Everyone knows Indy will be a phenomenal host for All-Star Weekend. Ignore the trolls.
Knew
#Pacers
defense was good tonight down stretch, but looking at box score - WOW.
Held the Trail Blazers to just two points over the final 6:40 and Portland's last field goal of the game was a jumper by Lillard with 7:32 remaining.
Myles Turner on his birthday:
2016 - 24 PTS, 11-17 FG, 16 REB, 3 BLK
2017 - 20 PTS, 9-16 FG, 4 REB, 4 BLK
2018 - No Game
2019 - 10 PTS, 5-8 FG, 3 REB, 1 STL in one quarter
#Pacers
should petition NBA to play on March 24 every year for the foreseeable future.
Obviously two different teams, conferences, etc. but just saw this and thought it was of interest.
Pacers are currently 9-14 and are in 13th in the East.
Last year, Rick Carlisle's Mavericks also started 9-14 and at that point were 14th in the West. They finished 5th.
Oladipo on his pitch to free agents: "We've created a different type of culture here...I think that's unique because I haven't been part of an organization like that."
Tyreke Evans playing like the guy who beat out Steph Curry and James Harden for Rookie of the Year honors.
12 points this quarter, just tied the game at 52.
@VicOladipo
on Bojan Bogdanovic dunking twice in the first half tonight: "A Bogey dunk is like a solar eclipse, you don't see it too often...nah, he's the Croatian Jordan."
Nicknamed "The Chosen One" in his native country, 6-9 guard Yuta Watanabe is trying to become just the second Japanese-born player in NBA history.
My story on his
#Pacers
workout (plus notes on Jae'Sean Tate, Jordan Barnett, and Quentin Snider):
A lot of great perspective from Myles, who in his ninth NBA season and sixth time in the playoffs finally advanced to the second round. This particular response to
@TonyREast
question about what makes this team special stood out.
Not only did Myles Turner break Jermaine O'Neal's franchise record for blocks tonight, he moved past Al Horford into 59th place on the NBA's all-time list.
Turner turns 28 on Sunday and has a great chance to reach 2,000 blocks in his career, something only 19 players have done.
My friend Colin was arrested during the protests in NY and absurdly is facing a potential life sentence, a harsher maximum penalty than the officer who murdered George Floyd.
You can donate to Colin's legal defense and help support his foster siblings:
Alize Johnson continues to really impress in Summer League. Already been his usual menace on the boards, but just hit a corner three. If he can develop that consistently, he'll turn into something.
Who did Trevor Booker say has helped him most as he gets acclimated to a new situation with the
#Pacers
?
Rookie TJ Leaf. Even though Booker is likely taking his spot in the rotation, the veteran forward said Leaf has taken active role in teaching him sets, called him "great guy"
This little slide on the baseline to make room for T.J. is easily the most athletic thing I've done since becoming a dad. Happy to make a very small contribution to a
#PacersWin
.
Bojan Bogdanovic has 28 points with 6:02 left in the 4th quarter. That's already a season high for the Croatian Sensation. He scored 26 vs. Miami on Nov. 19.
I first met
@StephenCurry30
in the fall of 2006, when we were just freshmen enrolling at a small liberal arts college in North Carolina.
15 years later, here he is chasing an NBA record. Forgive me, please, for a little thread.
BREAKING: Darren Collison just threw down for the first time in 2018-19 with a right-handed jam on the break.
Collison has now dunked exactly once in each of the past three seasons.
20-point, 20-assist games in Pacers franchise history:
Jalen Rose with 22 points, 20 assists on April 18, 2001 at Cleveland
Tyrese Haliburton with 21 points, 20 assists TONIGHT at Chicago
With 46 wins, the
#Pacers
have also now surpassed their win total from two seasons ago and are guaranteed to finish with their best record since they finished first in the East at 56-26 in 2013-14.
Here's a stat that blew me away: LeBron James has lost 10 of his last 12 regular season games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
Only has two non-playoff wins in the building since the 2012-13 season (those wins both came with Cleveland, on 2/1/16 and 2/8/17).
