And then, when Cheltenham (4) and Royal Ascot (5) are on, we say "We have the best racing in the 🌎". Seriously, you couldn't make it up.

What an afternoon for those of us who are emotional. Tears of sorrow for Kachy, and then poised for more with Cyrname falling, only for them to be tears of joy when he proved to be winded rather than fatally injured. Shouldn't be crying at my age but I do so love horses.

This is a Bank Holiday weekend in France, as it is in the UK. So they stage racing when people want to attend. There are 20 meetings today (some Flat, some jumps, some trotting, many mixed). another 20 tomorrow. Average prizemoney per race across the 40 fixtures is €13,000.

It does seem @itvracing and @RacingTV take the view that day-to-day bloodstock transactions that are clearly dodgy are out of bounds. I don't see how one can encourage ownership on the one hand, and turn a blind eye to dodgy deals at the expense of owners on the other.

@krassenstein I thought Trump was embarrassing you all. I met a lovely couple from Boston in Sancerre (Central France) yesterday. The first thing the girl did was apologise for being American, and then for Trump. Sad state of affairs when you feel it necessary to do that.
