WATCH hopes and prays for the flourishing of women, both ordained and lay, in @churchofengland in 2023. This means, among other things, that there should be no further appointments of diocesan bishops who do not fully accept the ministry of women priests in all respects.

How very sad that clergy in @dioceseoflondon have to have two separate Chrism masses so that those who do not accept female priests can reaffirm their ordination vows on their own. It's time for women and men to be treated equally in @churchofengland

Have @churchofengland people realised this? In the past WATCH represented a minority, asking for equal treatment for women. Now it voices the mainstream view of CofE churches on this: more than 95% of churches have chosen to have men & women ministering equally, side by side.

Bringing to an end the arrangements that provide for institutional discrimination against women and a divided episcopate do not need to involve forcing people to leave, but stopping ordaining new priests who do not fully accept women as priests and leaders

Have @churchofengland people realised this? In the past WATCH represented a minority, asking for equal treatment for women. Now it voices the mainstream view of CofE churches on this: more than 95% of churches have chosen to have men & women ministering equally, side by side.

This is why we need to restart the conversation abt equality for women in @churchofengland - our national church, with 26 seats in House of Lords but still using exemptions under the Equality Act to discriminate against women #IWD24

“Women are constantly told there are things which are ‘more important’ than equality for them. But accepting injustice not only distorts the Gospel, it is damaging. /1

Other church websites say they promote the ‘distinctive’ ministry of men & women, suggesting difference & equality, not admitting that they actually adhere to women submitting to men’s authority, in church & in marriage. #MaleHeadship #Complementarian #MutualFlourishing ?

Basic take from the data: 1. Good news: the proportion of women licensed to stipendiary ⁦⁦ @churchofengland ⁩ parish posts has increased very slightly. 2. Not such good news: there’re still only 8 dioceses where over a third of stipendiary vicars or rectors are women.
