Hey!
I'm Rachel, a 3D Artist at Coatsink but I also work on my own personal projects in my spare time too.
I love all things stylized, environment/prop art, and meeting other nice game devs! ☺️🎨
I was a receptionist while spending all my free time learning 3D. A bunch of my co-workers would regularly say I should just give up.
Anyway, I used their doubt as fuel 😌 There's something really satisfying about being to prove you are 100% capable of reaching your goals

. I'm Rachel, a 3D environment artist in the UK where I've been working on games for the past 2 years. I love stylized art and meeting other nice devs!

Helloooo! I'm Rachel, I've been working as a 3D artist in games for the past 2.5 years (where has the time gone??). Feel super lucky to be able to do what I love for a career, and really excited to see what I get to work on in the future! :)

😊
I'm Rachel, and I really love making stylised environments and props! I've been working as a 3D artist for almost 3 years, and I'm really excited to learn new things and see how my art develops in the future!!

, I'm Rachel! ✨
I've been working as a 3D artist for over 3 years now, and I really love environments, props, storytelling games/RPG's, and anything stylised!
Here's my portfolio;
I love 3D but a lot of the time I feel pressured to keep updating my portfolio. I've been really excited to dedicate time to non-3D stuff like Ableton and a Norwegian course but I feel sooo guilty not using that time to make my portfolio better 🥲 idk if that will ever go away?
Hey

!
Here's my art vs artist 🥳 I feel like my work has levelled up a lot this year, so can't wait to post some more recent pieces when they're finished.
This week marks my 2nd year in the games industry as an artist! 🥳
Feel super lucky to be in a career where I get to be creative. It's always worth pursuing your dreams, even if it feels difficult. Don't give up!
I still have so much to learn, but that's exciting 😊
WIP! Currently remaking the windows/walls to be more stylised. Still need to do a lighting and texture pass but it's sooo close! 🐉 Original concept by Eduard Kolokolov!
Today is my 3 year anniversary working as a 3D artist!! 🥳 Feel so lucky to be able to create every day. Still so much to learn, but that's really exciting ☺️
Would be super grateful for any advice! Having issues where some of my textures appear super washed out in UE5, mainly my roof tiles 😭 Tried messing with exposure, and DL intensity (currently sat at 2, any lower makes the rest too dark). Been stuck on this for ages 🥹
Projects I finished this year! I don't think I'll be able to finish my current environment before the new year sadly 😭
Looking forward to taking a little break from 3D outside of work after the next one - will be nice to pick up something new/relax 😌
It's finished! I really wanted to make a D&D inspired piece, and thought Wave from the White Plume Mountain dungeon would be super cool 🌊 It was really fun trying to learn more hand painting with this piece, and feel happier with the colour scheme now! 🥳
I've been having a lil bit of art burnout lately so here's another old shot of my Dragons Rise scene! Though now that the weather is turning dark & moody it's bringing up my motivation a little - I always found it easier to work when it feels wintery! ⛈️
Getting real tired of the constant barrage of exploitative AI :( Just want to keep seeing authentic art/books/music made by real people, with their own personal experiences and influences poured into their work.
Finding it hard not to feel down about how things are going
Does anyone have any resource recommendations on hand painting techniques for 3D? Or favourite brushes they like to use in Painter? I'd love to get better and more confident with making nice brush strokes etc 😊
Art is so hard because some days I feel really confident and able to tackle anything - but then other days I feel like a total fraud 😭 Having a lot of those other days lately
3 years vs my most recent finished environment! In October it's gonna be my 3 year game dev anniversary too🥳 I've learnt soooo much during that time and I'm really excited to keep learning and making art!
There's no such thing as stupid questions for 3D, and it's okay to feel like you need a refresher on something that might seem simple! Ask all the questions you need 😌

Thunderful laying off 20 percent of staff as workers pay the price for "over-investments"
"The need for Thunderful to enact these changes stems primarily from over-investments made in the last few years"
If I ever want a good laugh I just look at my first ever 3D model. Where's his head? IDK. UV maps? What're those 😆
I think I intended to use a pc monitor as a head with a cat face as a screensaver. Everyone starts somewhere - my somewhere just happened to be a cat-worm
In August I had to say goodbye to my beloved little friend and I miss her with everything, every day. For some reason it hit even harder today 🥹 She was so loved and I'm glad she got to spend her retirement years with me ❤️

Can't believe how wildly wrong this feedback is. And to think it's okay to speak to anyone like that, especially when you're in a position of giving advice?? Using 'boring' in any setting is so unhelpful and just acts as a personal attack rather than being constructive 🙄
Skylight asset! I'm a bit late to the Dragons Rise ArtStation challenge - life has been way too busy. But knew I had to have a go at making the environment by Eduard Kolokolov 😍 Here's the ref -
Promised myself I'd take a break from making environments in my spare time but I'm getting the urge to start another. Going to at least wait until I texture my current project 😌
There's so many hobbies I want to pick up but sometimes I feel like that's time I should be using to get rid of old portfolio stuff and replace it with things that reflect what I can do now 😭

The more that AI gets pushed on nearly every website, the more I just wanna live offline 🥹 But its difficult when a lot of my friends live far away/abroad, or generally just wanting to be aware of what's going on in the world
Get ready, our Wayfinder Art blast has dropped on Artstation today!!! So happy to be part of such an amazing team, seeing everyone's work warms my heart 💜

Gutted doesn't cover it. The Sycamore Gap tree was felled last night and no one knows who did it. It was one of my favourite places around home 😔 Such mindless vandalism to an iconic landmark
@Unvik_3D
Oh yeah it's great for thinking about how to make stuff! One of the animators I know mentioned they always notice the way different people walk, I guess it's something that happens across specialties too 😆
