@alex_avoigt @WholeMarsBlog This is inaccurate, Alex. You're confusing requirements imposed on level 4 systems with requirements that would be imposed on a level 2 system. UN homologation rules are the primary restriction at this time. We're working with regulators towards changes.

@rohanspatel @coldenvy @ByeonChansoo @mikedyanand @teslascope @darewecan @MateenOmair @Tesla @aelluswamy Rohan's totally right though. We're putting significant effort into making sure North American and other regulators globally are informed or get to experience supervised FSD, and we're actively contributing to relevant regulatory activity. Good things to come to Canada soon!

@TeslaBoomerMama @RomainHedouin @rohanspatel Stepping in for Rohan here. We're gradually deploying the "Speed Camera on Your Route" feature in more regions worldwide where we are not restricted by regulations or other factors. Definitely won't be limited to Europe.

@aikisteve @rohanspatel @WillFealey @elonmusk @UNECE @Tesla We're unfortunately restricted in rolling out Early Access in many European countries, with a few exceptions. We do educate on the virtues of this approach and are supporting ongoing EU conversations with the hope of streamlining testing rules across Europe.

@rohanspatel @eurotechjunkie @KRoelandschap @fminderop DCAS is the result of a strong, collaborative effort with many countries at the UN. We have always been adamant about the importance of lvl 2, sans handicap, to enable and accelerate scaled automation. Thankfully, we are joined by others who agree system initiated is needed.

@KRoelandschap @rohanspatel @eurotechjunkie @fminderop We do our best to have regulators both in NA and elsewhere experience FSD with every opportunity. Nothing beats a hands-on, tactile experience of the system to correct established assumptions. We of course also bring our experience from NA to bear, but a mindset change is key.

@WillFealey @rohanspatel @NuovaRealta The Autonomous Vehicles Bill in the UK is an exciting development in the context of ADS, and for sure the UK has one of the better testing regimes in Europe. It's still unclear what ADS homologation rules will apply - we want to see progress there! For level 2, DCAS will apply.

@MallardAluminum @rohanspatel @coldenvy @ByeonChansoo @mikedyanand @teslascope @darewecan @MateenOmair @Tesla @aelluswamy We work diligently with RDW and other regulatory authorities in Europe and elsewhere to make sure they are aware of FSD's capabilities and safety benefits. DCAS was a big step forward, but more needs to be done.

@BeneluxTesla @rohanspatel @heyitsyashu @DriveTeslaca @elonmusk Eventually ASS will also transfer over to Europe and elsewhere, but certain functional limitations will unfortunately be imposed by existing UN regulations. We are continuing to work with regulators with the aim of improving this situation.

@UKsyfyfan @rohanspatel @NuovaRealta Ford's exemption approval doesn't guarantee approval for others, as the burden is now on the UK authorities to introduce general homologation rules for such systems. There's a difference in c FSD and Blue Cruise that are meaningful capabilities in the context of these processes.

@Scrin_Mais @mgoetzke @WholeMarsBlog Loving all the creative ideas. European countries have particular national rules about who can perform testing and what vehicles can be used. In the EU, bringing a vehicle out of compliance impacts the registration and insurance, and requires specific approval or license plates.

@WaifuStonks @rohanspatel @coldenvy @ByeonChansoo @mikedyanand @teslascope @darewecan @MateenOmair @Tesla @aelluswamy Under the EEA agreement with the EU, Norway actually applies the same rules as the rest of Europe for level 2 systems. A national approval have certain other limitations imposed that would prove a challenge.

@siddkhastgir @TomBamonte @Tesla A lot of assumptions are made without direct experience with such systems in off-highway environments. This is why hands-on experience is key. As always @siddkhastgir , happy to work through concerns.

@rad202 @alex_avoigt No, this legislation will unlock deployment of a wide array of level 4 automation down the line when secondary legislation is set up ('25/26). It unfortunately does not improve the situation for level 2 ADAS. We are working with legislators to improve this situation though.

@DCniert @rohanspatel @NuovaRealta Thanks for the feedback! I posted on this recently, but unfortunately Norway is in the same boat as the rest of Europe. Norway follows the same homologation rules through the EEA agreement with the EU and actively participates in the related DCAS drafting discussions.

@stnor @Seattle_RT @elektrotimmy @rohanspatel @eurotechjunkie There is relatively minimal delay in application of UN rules once adopted and in force. UN R157 and ADS regulations are a special case because they require traffic law to be updated to enable hands-free or driverless operation. An increasing number of countries have now done so.
