Alongside the other Redistricting Bills yesterday Senator Hise also sponsored a bill to change the way the Watauga County Commission is elected. Currently elected countywide Hise proposed changing to 5 single member districts, gerrymandering to heavily benefit Republicans.

After narrowly winning the seat in 1984 Jay Rockefeller was easily reelected in 1990 defeating former Kansas Judge, John Yoder. Rockefeller won all but 3 of West Virginia's 55 counties in a performance that would be impossible for a Democrat today.

In what ended up being the tipping point seat for a GOP Supermajority Democrat @DiamondForNC pulled the upset flipping the suburban HD-73. This district voted for Biden by about 4.5% in 2020 but voted for Trump by 6.5% in 2016.

Last Year Young Boozer was elected to his third term as Alabama State Treasurer defeating Libertarian candidate Scott Hammond. He had been reappointed in 2021 following John McMillan's resignation to serve as Executive Director for the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission.

Back in 1970 Representative Nick Galifianakis (Uncle to Zach) was reelected to his 3rd and final term in the U.S. House. In 1972 he would Successfully primary incumbent Senator Everett Jordan but would lose the general election to Jesse Helms.

North Carolina's old 9th district reelected Republican former mayor of Charlotte Sue Myrick by 33 points in 2006. While the district was safely Republican back then this areas has quickly trended left as Biden won the district by 2% in 2020.

In one of the least Surprising Pick Ups this cycle State Senator Jeff Jackson won NC-14, a newly created seat, by 15% against Republican Pat Harrigan. The District Split Biden + 16 Cunningham + 11 in 2020.
