I am an expat from Kharkiv who moved to the US in late teens. I believe, that getting money into the Ukrainian economy and the hands of every day people is so important. A few months ago I
I will make this Tweet these twice in English and Ukrainian. I just want all my Ukranian friends to know that people in the US really do care and love you. I live in a medium size city in Nevada, USA. This is from a house across the street, no they are not Ukrainian like me
My tweet about everyday Americans supporting Ukraine got “a bit” of attention. I am humbled and cognizant that it is really about love for Ukraine. To my new followers, I:
Was born and raised on Saltivka in Kharkiv. I moved to the US in late teens. I am a mom of three girls.
From another social media platform, translated:”… the symbol of today is this girl in night pajamas, fleeing from the destroyed house on Straw in Kyiv grabbed not a fluffy bear, not a pink pony and not a Barbie doll... it is the flag of Ukraine 🇺🇦”
I get russia and russians, they have the government they deserve.
I don’t get Iran, every Iranian I’ve ever met is a smart, gregarious, fun loving, principled, modern human. How did they get so unlucky?
For all Hamas supporters tasked with spreading misinformation or doing it voluntarily, can I help you shorten the learning curve.
1. You are successfully on step 1: there was no murder of Israeli babies and we all need to be careful with spreading misinformation and the
Just spoke my closest childhood friend (we were both raised in Kharkiv, I now live in the US; Sasha is currently in Polava, Ukraine) he ended our conversation with: "Hon, just hang in there, we are strong people, we've got this"
Ukrainians are the strongest and loveliest
My original purpose in Twitter was the help people learn a little more about Kharkiv.
Please understand the magnitude of what is happening. Russia is methodically destroying and making uninhabitable the second largest city in Ukraine. I guess they decided that taking it will
you probably don't see on your local news what Russia keep doing to Kharkiv,our second biggest city, Russia bombing it every day with all kind of missiles,destroying it, openly say on tv they want to erased it completely and free world doesn't give a fuck
This is the best I can come up with to wear to a concert. Great choice - people are shouting: “awesome T-shirt” yup I am hip that way.
On a serious note - support in the US is bipartisan and unwavering.
I want to make a point about buying Made In Ukraine beyond patriotic items. We needed drinking glasses, I fell in love Pottery Barn ones, but I asked myself can I buy them instead from Ukraine. Just now I did. Please think of Ukrainian products for every day needs. If you
Girls (7 and 5) and I were talking about the country where I was born. 7 year old couldn’t remember how to say USSR. So this is what she said: “It is when russia took over countries around it”
Simple, profound and accurate - USSR was not a union of anything - it was an
Noticing a trend I expected, some American "Ukraine supporters" abandoning their support and pouncing on actual Ukrainian-American accounts because we are expressing anger with Biden administration.
1. They are mad at us because we became apostates. They expected us to be
First thing - I am so glad that

is back!
Second thing - I hope it doesn't come across perverted, while I am too prudish to display where I store my russophobia, I admired so much what everyone else have done!
I continue to believe that human body is the most perfect
So I did this thing...
First things first - absolutely flattered that so many of you followed me after seeing my picture :)
Can I please beg old and new followers to take a look at my new pinned tweet where I categorized a few hundreds of Made In Ukraine shops in one place! It
I am Ukrainian immigrant who spent 3/4 of her life in the US. It always bothered me that when I tell people I am from Kharkiv they draw a blank, it is only the 2nd largest city in the second largest country in Europe. And then Kharkiv became famous. While I appreciate... 🧵
@DoctorNazarian
Thank you!!! I grew up in Ukraine, I am a direct descendant of pogrom and holocaust survivors. I experienced both socialism and antisemitism. What you are saying is 100% what I’ve been feeling for years.
For the “ post black and white picture of yourself if you support Ukraine” change I offer you a picture of 18 year old me in black and white taken for my USSR passport. Picture of 50 year old me in comments.
I made this comment on Facebook and it was immediately hidden from my friends’ timelines. I have a second account and it didn’t show up there. This is bigger than suppressing new about Ukraine, it is about manipulating popular opinion - undesired points of view are simply not

Had to delete this fun tweet with my husband’s picture. It was attacked by a high number of scammy “buy it here” replies. I will disable comments on this one to avoid the same thing and adding my own picture so it it clear who are who.
@IgorKossov
What professionalism? Switched to Twitter for all my news on 2/25, because western news was basically doing an hourly count down to Ukraine’s fall. No actual info, just fear mongering and glorification of mighty Russian army.
Can I just say I love the US and the people who live here. Papa moved my Ukrainian flag thingie closer to the front of the yard. And… it disappeared, things are already kind of stressful as it is, so it made me extra sad that someone would do this.
A few ours later it
@StopAntisemites
This is surreal after reading about barbaric rapes of young children. I am seeing a lot more of these reactions from Palestinians. At some point a spade is a spade. God and proper weapons please help Israel survive, being surrounded by this level of hate.
It has been a week. Part of me feels I've been all over the place and part of me feels I was just been in one place - miserable. Being Jewish and Ukrainian is its own kind of painful right now.
To all the new people who followed me: "Thank you!"
To all the people who
You can take a girl out of Ukraine, but not Ukraine out of a girl. I will immodestly say, I make the best fried potatoes (жареная картошка - I used a Russian translation because that's what I called my favorite food growing up.) The skill is in consistency of free-hand cuts (I
@MarinaMedvin
Imagine these forms of speech against any other minority group? But hey, hating Jews is ok.
Curious, how did every American campus acquired such a strong and organized pro-Palestinian/hamas contingent

I was thinking about my recent tweets being all over the place. For those that don't know me - I am an expat, moved to the US from Kharkiv in my late teens, have been here for 30+ years.
In the last 2 days a post about administration slow walking arms delivery resulted in a
Quick reminder of who I am: 3rd generation Kharkivite, Ukrainian expat in the US.
Last fall I set out to tell stories of Kharkiv through my family history in
#Kharkiv4EverInMyHeart
. I asked my dad about Kharkiv assuming he will tell me about his childhood. Instead he told me
I did promise to tweet drunk right? So here it goes. I want to thank all the non Ukrainian partners of Ukrainians. It is not easy to see your love one hurt so much. My life imploded during the first two weeks of war, so my husband had to take care of kids, parents, house, 1/2

food for thought and maybe a small request for help.
Longish preamble - a few weeks ago life got so busy that I disengaged (ironically around the same time someone accused me of having no life, because I am a stolen memes queen) and after I kind of lost my steam and it
Truth about me:
1. I have a Jewish father and a Ukrainian mother. I support both Israel and Ukraine
2. I believe that White House’s position toward both countries leads to more deaths - Ukraine is deliberately never given enough to win / hamas just got 100m from the US and will
@LizaRosen0000
We need to accept that we don’t share values, culture where human life is valued intrinsically is a morally superior to culture(s) where it isn’t. Forcing us to accept the unacceptable and indoctrinating our children will assure that evil dominates not just regions, but the
I feel stupid for making it about poor little me, but my heart can hardly handle both countries where I have family and friends being attacked.
Can the madness stop please.
I wanted to post a tweet a day about Kharkiv, but life got in a way. So here is today's installment. I grew up in Saltikva, but spent most of my free time in Downtown. This picture was taken in 1991 on Sumskya Street. 1/x ⬇️
So this is what made me so sentimental while talking to papa. Heads up pre-story is going to take longer than the story.
We immigrated from Kharkiv in 1992. The first few years were hard - none of us (I immigrated with both parents, grandmother and brother's family) spoke
@fellaraktar
Let them be offended. This is the worst pope in modern history. Ukraine is just one vivid example of utter moral bankruptcy, before it came more coverups of the child rapes. He is hated by many in his native South America. Call a spade a spade.
Changed my Twitter name thingje, too many people assumed I am an ungrateful Ukrainian, when I really an ungrateful American.
Me in my back yard. I have been furiously gardening since being laid off.
I baked, because my husband was hoping for a more normal weekend (I don’t feel normal, but starting to feel that I might be hard to be married to right now)
Why do I bake it the frying pan, this apple dessert is from my childhood in Kharkiv - we didn’t have a cake pan. I
You know what I love about

(other then support for Ukraine, not feeling along on Twitter, a sense of camaraderie, supporting and amplifying my voice) - humor, there are days when reading a silly comment is the only reason I laugh, and my whole body finally relaxes. Thank
This is a two part post. Part 1: Ukraine is defending all of Europe and the rest of the free world at an enormous cost. I've said it before as a native Russian speaker - the narrative out of Moscow is horrifying. Ukraine is not their end goal 1/5 🧵
When I am asked how I am doing at work - I don’t feel like I can say: “Bad day today. Ukraine is hurting and so am I” I am good at my job, I am focused and dedicated. I just wish I can acknowledge that the war continues to impact me and some days are bad.
Why does it feel ironic and at the same time painful to read that the person who had no regards for Ukrainians right to live teaches International Human Rights at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law?
I am now second guessing if my tweets are view worthy, but self doubt aside, here we go.
This tweet is about
#UkrainianArtisansRock
, and why I do it. I research and frequently shop for handmade items from Ukraine. The reason I do it, is because I am big believer in a power of
Her name is Hanna, in the summer of 1919 in a village of Medvedevka her father Isaak was hacked to death in front of her, while trying to protect his older daughter from being raped. He did not succeed. Her brothers were murdered in the villages nearby. Hanna told me about it,
@KyleRummens
That’s awful. If you were too slow, giving you a dirty look is an over-reaction, but within the realm of, “I can understand that reaction”
What the truck driver did has no justification at all!
Silly internet.
I think, it is a little funny when I make an angry "UKRAINE IS NOT GETTING ENOUGH" post and new peeps unfollow me. I know, I know angry Ukrainians are so annoying.
I keep missing an opportunity to remind new peeps to look at my pinned tweet, or at my feed and pretty please buy something made by Ukrainian artisans. Even a simple click through to their site will help.
Standing in line in Eastern European deli, people in line speaking Russian (mind you I am Russian speaking myself) and I am having a physical reaction to hearing Russian. This feels surreal.
What the f_ck is wrong with people?
I visited Lviv (babuskha’s favorite nice lived there) nearly half dozen times between 1989 and 1991, all I’ve got was warmth and beautiful energy from the city.
Russians however not only made fun of my “accent,” but interestingly my

I want to talk about my own Baba Nata (Natalya Pantileevna) Pictured: her and mom; both mom's parents; babushka after WWII
Why do I want you know about her - because Kharkiv is best understood through it's people.
Babusha spoke either a heavily accented Russian.. 1/8⬇️
This is kind of funny. My post about what likely was a few Russian bots following me (I blocked them all) resulted in a a lot awesome

Where do you think American soldiers would be fighting now if Ukraine fell in 3-4 days? Poland, Baltic republics, Germany? How about sayings “thank you” to the Ukrainians who are defending Europe and saving American lives at the cost of theirs

Perhaps it is not your personal fault, but these tweets are incredibly unhelpful. US has everything Ukraine needs to win, can given it without any danger to its own security, in fact will be more secure after Russia’s defeat - Chooses not to. Your words are meaningless.
@SEOwithAlex
It is insane that russia is allowed to exist in its current state. Germany and Japan were not, they are good countries now that have gone through occupation and massive de-education. There is no peaceful future were russia is not going through the same. In the mean time, I
Made this yummy roasted chicken yesterday and I was thinking, why did mom not roast like this when I was growing up.
Two reasons:
(1) buying a whole chicken was frequently not possible, food ingredients in Kharkiv not readily available (Kharkiv was supplied particularly

I don’t know if I want to cry, throw my phone against the wall or just learn to stop feeling all together. I am Ukrainian and Jewish - Facebook just recommend and pro-Russian and a pro-Palestinian groups in my feed back to back. This is a picture from pro-Palestinian one.

you have a lot to say about what you’ve done for Ukraine… these are your legacy. These are how we, our children and anyone willing to listen will remember you from now on. These will be the end of you.

Out of curiosity approximately how much did you pay in federal taxes. Why does it feel that the amount is zero? Now do me a favor- say “thank you” to Ukrainians who are saving Europe at an enormous cost.
A reminder, I am an expat who lives in the US.
On Saturday during girls gymnastics I heard someone speaking beautiful Ukrainian. I turned around and saw a charming woman, who almost immediately waved at me. With a Jewish dad and Ukrainian mom, I have a bit of a ubiquitous face

My grandfather, fought from beginning to the end, has one of the highest medal for bravery in Stalingrad. His mother Haya was executed in 1942 while he was in the front lines.
publicly and detailed stated aim is to destroy Western Europe and the US. Ukrainians are ones stopping them! If Ukraine fell in three days as expected, NATO soldiers would have been now fighting in Europe. Ukraine is defending the world with the lives of their children 2/5🧵
I should add, all our parents live with us. My father in law passed away a month ago. We have two young daughters and not an easy time taking care of everyone.
I want us to not get used to thinking of what is happening in Ukraine as normal.
I am sharing this description of Bakhmut, by Natalia Omelchenko, to illustrate how cruel and absurd russian aggression and totally inadequate western responses are:
