I stopped reading past the words "expanding". NATO never expanded. It's not some empire that captures territory. It's an organisation. Which means it enlarged. And like all organisations that enlarge, NATO did so as a result of states choosing to become members.

Just an FYI, Babel was a Ukrainian Jew from Odesa. Nothing could’ve peppered him for the brutality he witnessed then. Brutality bred more brutality, and cemented brutality as a regime, which is what made the USSR into the monster it was. And what Russia continues to be.
@muhammadshehad2
"failure and humiliation" – still sore about not failing to "drive Jews into the sea" or sticking to your false analogy with Algeria sending the French home? Until you realise we have nowhere to go but to fight to live in our land, you will suffer failure and humiliation. Loser.
@AseyevStanislav
The "good German" majority who thought Jews were rats and needed to be liquidated, just as teh "good Russian" majority who think the xoxols don't exist and must therefore not be allowed to exist.
@MaytalKowalski
She didn't say Palestinians can't live in their homeland (i.e. ethnic cleansing). She said: they ought to declare a desire to live in peace, side by side with the Jews, in the Arab part of the land of Palestine that is not the Jewish part of the land of Palestine (i.e. Israel).
@DrewPavlou
Islamist extremists murder 3,000 people in cold blood by flying full passenger planes into buildings and Najat’s response is gaslighting Americans of every colour, nationality and gender to exercise self-control.

This is the clearest response one should take to the above take. Yet, I don't see the person who posted it saying 'thanks' for explaining this to them, or even acknowledging. THIS tells you more about the supposed good faith with which these so-called pro-Palestinians act.

I hope this man is handed the kind of sentence which will make him remember and physically feel the consequences of his every word. Slowly. Over a long period. Hopefully with somebody standing nearby so he thinks there is some hope for him as he's experiencing all that pain.

Thanks for sharing your story. It’s useful for everyone to know. But for your own future safety and emotional wellness, just bury your past and say a mental forever good bye to your family. That’s the only way, I’m afraid.

Difference: The Russian regime is guilty of the crime of aggression; the Chinese regime of Uyghur genocide; the Syrian regime (with Russians) of starting a war against (and bombing) own civilians. Hamas invaded Israel and killed and wounded thousands in a terrorist pogrom.
@afalkhatib
I wouldn’t call 300 missiles aimed at all major Israeli population centres “limited”. Had it not been for the Iron Dome and David’s Sling, Israel would have been very badly damaged. And the fact that the missiles were sent directly from Iran means their capabilities have grown.

I like the concept of "overprivileged minority". How exactly does that work? They get the most attention? The most abuse? The most marginalisation? The most quiet derision?
This woman, Sarah Miller, a writer published in both the New York Times and the New Yorker, believes feminists think that’s rapists stealing money from the UN is “badass”

The more Biden does such things, the more Israelis see that they have no choice but to stick together. If he thinks he's pressuring Netanyahu, he's mistaken – the whole unity government, representing all parts of Israeli political establishment and public) want to defeat Hamas.

Thanks. It must be tough daily to repeat the obvious. The irony about "resistance" is, had Palestinians pursued it rather than terrorism, Israel, being a democracy with a majority pro-peace population, could have settled with Palestinians a state of their own. Alas...

You're right Oleg: $60bil from US, €54bil from EU, €1bil artillery via Czechs, bilateral security from Europeans, NATO council and fast-track, EU mem'ship. It's all nothing! compared to the line that Russia captured in first 2 weeks of war and lost 50% of since then.

The dictators all talk about colour revolutions as if it were some kind of bogeyman for the masses, but they are the ones who always make them possible, and the masses are the ones always leading them.
@HamasAtrocities
I love all the attention on Jews. So, it's not Iran that's dragged th region into a war, but Israel's response to being attacked non-stop for the last year and having nearly 100,000 of civilians left homeless.

We have 57 (maybe up to 70) of 720, or 9%, potentially anti-Ukraine voices. It will present some challenges, but overall, especially with the strong signal by voters for greater security, the next Parliament is even more strongly pro-Ukraine and solidly pro-EU. Vivat Pax Europaea

Nobody Jewish (or anyone familiar with our traditions and dietary laws) can explain this to you (or anyone else). That's it. That's the explanation (about JVP's "Jewishness").
@derJamesJackson
Hang on. Is he saying “Fuck it, we ain’t apologising for two millennia of Jew hate, expulsions and pogroms that ended in a genocide! We’ll just call the Jewish state ‘apartheid’ and that’ll excuse our continuing denigration of the Jews and see if that lets us off the hook”?
@DrewPavlou
Not a single one of them has said anything about the liberation. This shows you that they're not with human rights, as they claim, but with Hamas' right to do whatever it wants.
@RALee85
Agree. That's where earlier and more serious mobilisation (rather than bureaucratic stalling and parliamentary populism) would have helped (i.e. 8 months ago, at least). Not to mention the 6-month delay with weapons/ammo delivery from the US (and dithering in the EU).

Yes & no. The Brit police state is blameworthy for their brutal treatment (mainly of Jews, plus preventing Jewish refugees from entering Palestine, plus siding with Arabs in 1948 recognising Jordanian sovereignty over WB). But Arab-on-Jew violence was the lynchpin.

They can protect the Jews, but only by carting them away to let the Hamas crowd walk around/spew their hate unaffected, for the Jews' own safety, of course, because their presence as 'visibly Jewish' provokes the 'protesters'.

This obsession with "children" when they talk about Jews! I've never seen anything like it, neither in Mosul, nor in Yemen, Sudan, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, allied bombing of Germany.

Yeah, the same level of social obligations they've been fulfilling since 1991 – i.e. near to nothing. Had it not been for people's willy-nilly ability to pay for their own health, education, and old age (funded through a willy-nilly functioning economy) there'd be nothing at all.

Ahhh, NYC used to have some many good Jewish delis/cafes, with wonderfully tasty food. I guess they must have closed and people now suffer from hunger. Kinda like Gaza – unless Jews serve decent food, people starve.
