Did You Know? The shortstop was originally a shallow outfielder called a rover. He would play either side of the 2b bag. With how light the baseballs were, outfielders needed a cut-off. As the quality of baseballs improved, he became an infielder & remained as the 6th position.

@SwagnShades Approach > Mechanics. A good approach can make up for bad mechanics. A bad approach will make perfect mechanics irrelevant. What good is having perfect mechanics if you don't know how to use it? When you're little you should focus on mechanics, as you get older on approach.

@FatherOf4Lunas The 24 Hr Rule - Removing Emotion I always had a rule that parents can't speak to the coaches within 24 hours of completion of games. I would also ask my parents to do the same with their kids. Any game comments that were not positive can wait till tomorrow.

@JeffPassan On avg commercials add 30 sec per half inning, that's 18 min. I've seen it as high as 51 minutes. Everyone talks about pace of play, but if you understand all the intricacies happening every pitch it's not slow. It's happening for reasons. Also no one talks about this....

A few hours a week wont make you an allstar. You must outwork the majority. There is a reason why teachers give homework. Practice is not a skills camp.

@fredlanders101 Especially at higher levels. At lower levels you can get away with hitting the ball on the ground. Errors and lack of range are more common. But that doesn't work when playing with the big boys.

@nextlevelbb I was taught... - Flexibility - Stability - Mobility - SAQs - Strength Training In that order. Sometimes injuries happen when kids get too strong too fast and their ligaments and tendons don't have time to catch up. Utilize all training aspects to achieve max performance.

@coachzblair10 My take is that by that time it's too late to teach. Just encourage. Work on mechanics at practice. Discuss approach before the game or in between at bats. If you need, call timeout and discuss strategy. But leave the distractions out of it. Parents say enough for us all! 🤣
