Call me old school, but I want pitchers that fill up the zone with repeatable effortless deliveries. Our pitchers do gain velocity, it’s just not our number one focus. Our velocity gains happen as a result of prioritizing moving more efficiently to keep guys healthy & training.

The hardest throwing pitchers I train ride waves of momentum that begin with their first move. It’s not always the biggest, strongest pitcher who throws the hardest… It’s the pitcher who knows how to use the 10 inch slope beneath his feet. Momentum is king. @FlatgroundApp

Athletic pitchers stay healthy. Make moving with a purpose a priority. Lateral bounds to a sprint. Incorporates explosive movement qualities, fairly specific to the pitching delivery. @FlatgroundApp

Easy feel drill. Find a pole & work on your load phase. Gather rhythm, walk into it & drop into internal rotation of back hip. Hold for a few seconds & explore. @FlatgroundApp

Circle CH Tips • Find a comfortable grip, try loose or tight • Deeper in hand can reduce spin • Play catch w/it often • Middle & ring finger dominant • Thumb underneath ball • Cue ‘wipe the inside of the ball’,‘reach out & touch home plate’ • Think FB @FlatgroundApp

Lower body connection ball • Hold the ball in front leg as long as possible • This may help keep your front hip closed longer in IR • Creating a fixed post to rotate back hip into at foot strike, rather than flying front hip open into ER & just spinning @FlatgroundApp

The fence drill is a great way to fix early trunk rotation. The feeling of having a wall behind you will make you more patient until footstrike. You’ll notice how efficiently your trunk has to rotate late. * Setup 1-2ft away from fence * Out to 90ft @FlatgroundApp

Try this focused loading drill. Using the bucket & medball as his cue for depth before he goes anywhere. For most, depth should be similar to sitting in a low barstool. Adjust your cue height accordingly. A quality load sets up quality movements downstream. @FlatgroundApp

Medball throws are my favorite way to pattern an efficient, powerful lower half. 40mph+ w/ a 2lb ball means you should be able to hit 90mph from the bump. @FlatgroundApp medball drills are great for pitchers wanting more lower half reps on non throwing or low intent days.

Here’s a distance formula we use in catch play to improve feel. Everyone is a little different. • Changeups @ 80ft • Curveball/Slider/Split @ 70ft • Fastball @ 55-60ft (5-8 reps) Then we head to the slope to make sure we touch it daily. It’s our office. @FlatgroundApp

Slider tips • Find a comfortable grip • Try holding it loose or tight • Pull down on side of ball • Think chop/slice through zone • Hand speed out front • Throw it like a football • In training, have catcher up extended glove side to force hand out front @FlatgroundApp

The momentum we want is already built in with the 10 inch slope beneath your feet. You want to ride it, not force it. Picture yourself in a wind tunnel on the mound blowing towards the catcher. As soon as you lift up your front leg, it’s time to ride ✈️ @FlatgroundApp
