Know the story of the loaves and fishes?
Minneapolis’ Sanford Middle School asked for 85 bags of groceries to feed students. There are at least several thousand. And traffic is stacked in every direction for blocks. (The extra will go to food shelves.)
I could use any prayers the Twins/Twitter fam can spare for my dad over the next few days and especially this morning. We’re in wait-and-pray mode over a potentially fatal & quick-moving case of sepsis. Thx. 🙏
I just did the math: I’m on a streak of 9609 straight times I’ve walked safely in downtown Minneapolis since we moved here in October of 2018. That has to be a record, right? Let’s see if we can get to 10,000!

Everything is coming up
#MNTwins
tonight.
• White Sox lost so MN is atop Central and their magic number is 3.
• Yankees lost so MN magic number for home field is 1.
• Also, if MN wins the Central they won’t face Yankees in either of the first two rounds of playoffs.
She found us in 1996. We made an offer in 24 hours, fearing we had no idea what we were doing. We didn’t, but she did the heavy lifting, taking exceptional care of our family. She is ready for another now, and I want to say thank you and goodbye. (thread)
Our dog Char passed away peacefully early this morning. Due to health issues and despite a trip to the vet, Char passed overnight at home, in a spot next to the window that she enjoyed looking out later in her life. 1/8
Every time I go to US Bank, I’m struck by the same dichotomy: the seats/views/field are nearly perfect, but the concourses are an absolute nightmare. I would love the inside story on how this $1B palace got so F-ed up from a logistical POV.
Celebrating our 25th anniversary at the
#MNTwins
game. It’s not always sunny and fair skies, but we keep doing it all together, hopefully for another 25.
• 34 years ago today,
@ChrissieTVoR
insulted me.
• 30 years ago today, she said “I do” to me.
• Today we hung out w our grown kids and two deified “husband and wife” trees.
Thank you, Love, for 30 and 34 years together. But, it’s not enough. Let’s keep at it.
An amusing ballpark anecdote on the state of the
#MNTwins
. All year I’ve trumpeted the $60/month Twins Pass where you get a standing room ticket to every game. When attendance has been mediocre, we’ve been able to sit in mostly empty sections, even on the lower level. 🧵
I hope Falvey & Levine understand this turns up the heat considerably on 2019. They get their manager, it’s year three of the overhaul & the bad contracts are gone. They have about $60M to spend this offseason. There are no more excuses & little room for error.
For 20+ years, we’ve hosted Thanksgiving, but my dad was responsible for the Thanksgiving prayer. Last night I recognized that honor belonged to me this year. So, here it is. It begins and ends the same way as dad’s, whose presence I have felt a lot this morning. 1/6
People ask me why I dislike the White Sox so much, and I flashback to a 45yo grown ass man in a Sox hat taunting a 4yo
#MNTwins
kid in the Metrodome leaving a tough loss. 😡
Anyway, here’s today’s Sox-fan-of-the-day being escorted out today in handcuffs.
My
#Webelieveintc
recommendation: watch these games w people. Go to the game. A bar. Invite friends to your basement. Whatever. Baseball is meant to be watched together.
For 20+ years, we’ve hosted Thanksgiving, but my dad did the Thanksgiving prayer. With his passing, that responsibility has fallen to me for the third year. It begins and ends the same way as Dad’s, whose presence I continue to feel as I reflect on (and in) Gratitude. 1/x
Just to pile on to that called 3rd strike, it was a 2-2 count. Ump has every incentive to let the batter and pitcher resolve that at-bat themselves at 3-2 and not insert himself into it. Far more often in that situation a close strike is called a ball. Just egregious.
The
#MNTwins
statement below is true, BUT they also followed the money, agreeing to a TV contract with Diamond Sports that requires them to NOT allow their fans any in-market streaming options. (And then, of course, pocketed that money.)
From the
#MNTwins
regarding their TV situation as Comcast and Diamond Sports/Bally’s feud, leaving fans at home without games possibly as soon as tomorrow.
Braving another (clearly destitute) corner of downtown Minneapolis today at Maxwell’s (12th & Washington, a personal favorite, get the wing, fries & seasoned sour cream) after running a 5K. Lived yet another day!
I’m gonna be a Biden guy regardless, given the other option. But as someone who has personal experience with the impregnable wall that stuttering is to connection, let me tell you: this stuff matters. It may well be why we’re here. If you saw my last RT, here’s why it matters.
“I’m just a regular kid, and in a short amount of time, Joe Biden made me more confident about something that’s bothered me my whole life. Joe Biden cared.”

Everywhere you look in the
#MNTwins
clubhouse today, you’re seeing the t-shirt that Pablo Lopez is sporting. It’s an initiative driven by some players to focus on mental health.
One of the announcers on the Marlins radio broadcasts this week was like “Can you imagine, if the Yankees or Red Sox were hitting like this
#MNTwins
team? We would never hear the end of it! But nobody is talking about this lineup.” Odd to hear that from an opposing broadcast but
We are 25 minutes into this game, there have been 5 commercial breaks & a Penn State score. THE ENTIRE CROWD IS STILL STANDING. Nobody has sat. I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s like on big student section.
The idea that the
#Gophers
should fire Pitino is ludicrous to me. The team is so much more competitive than I thought they would be this year. And up & down the roster, almost every player has become better than I anticipated. (Go ahead and @ me.)
I love that Joe Ryan, who was a water polo player, just did a pre-inning stretch on the mound that looks very similar to what swimmers do on their starting block. (Watch until the shoulder shimmy at the end.)
And thank you all for you bearing with this crummy self-indulgent Monday morning thread, and for your well wishes and prayers. We’ll announce details about the memorial service on my mom’s Caring Bridge.
For 20+ years, we’ve hosted Thanksgiving, but my dad was responsible for the Thanksgiving prayer. Last year that responsibility fell to me for the first time. Here is this years, which begins and ends the same way as dad’s, whose presence I felt at 4AM when I awoke and wrote it.
Austin Martin, the top prospect the
#MNTwins
received in the Jose Berrios trade, is at-bat in his second game with the
@WindSurgeICT
. Tie game, bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, bases loaded. Let’s see what happens. 🤔
I’ve been asked by some
#MNTwins
fans if MIN can catch HOU & get a 1sr round bye. After all, the standings look like this ⬇️ - and MIN gets the tiebreaker. 🤔
(Nerdy ⚾️🧵coming)
The national narrative debating whether
@KyleRudolph82
pushed off is ludicrous. It isn’t being driven by reality. It’s being driven by the fact that the
#Saints
got royally screwed last year on a pass interference non-call, and that is likely to drive eyeballs. Be better.
For the first time in my 51-year life, I was in a protest march today. It was great. Welcoming, passionate, participatory, unintimidating. Leading up to it, I knew I was leaving my comfort zone, but I was glad I did it. I’d encourage others to try it.
I did not expect the student section to be this packed and this lively. This is before the game has started and most students don’t arrive until this weekend, I think. Good sign for the program.
Just walked into a bar in Vilnius, Lithuania, for a quick pint - and they started playing The Replacements. We may be around a bit longer than we planned.
@TwinsGeek
Hi John. Us again. We heard you and we’re excited to announce we will be making MLB Network's free preview available to Twin Cities customers in time for Game 1. TV customers can watch MLB Network at no additional cost thru 10/11. Say “watch MLB Network” into the X1 voice remote.
I mean, a lot went wrong for the
#MNTwins
this year, but you have to respect Colome’s commitment to truly being awful.
And the
#MNTwins
commitment to him. 🤔
Last night, as we’re clearing out our home of 23 years where we raised our kids, the storm hits. And after .... this. (Makes it a little tougher to leave.)
#ForSaleSoon
One reason for the
#MNTwins
to chase Kimbrel: nobody in the bullpen is quite good enough for their slot. Rogers isn’t quite good enough to be the best bullpen arm. Hildy & Parker aren’t quite good enough to be 2nd/3rd best. And so on. Kimbrel fixes lots of problems, not just one.
Cheapest walk up ticket at Target Firld today is $25 for standing room only. Cheapest ticket if you want a seat is $68 for Delta Sky Club. Summer is here, and that cheap seat promotion worked.
Hear me out,

Here’s your official

fan’s guide (🧵) to the Tampa Bay Rays Tropicana Field. Spoiler: I liked it more than I thought I would. I suspect most MN fans will too.
She was Chrissie, Elise, and Riggs’ first dog. We probably should have gotten a dog several years before we did, but I’m glad we waited for her. I will miss her terribly. I already do.
Mets stun baseball with middle-of-the night $315M deal for superstar Carlos Correa, who will play 3B in Queens. “We needed one more thing, and this is it,’ Cohen told

Kiner-Falefa is a 26yo, decent-fielding, light-hitting shortstop who is under contract for two years. He's perhaps serviceable, but there isn't a lot of upside there. Trading away Mitch Garver for him makes the buzzing in my brain start.
When we walk Char, she often pulls REALLY hard in random directions. Tonight, with no place to go, we decided to just walk whichever direction she pulled.
I kid you not: she took us directly to an empty barrel on
@FINNEGANS
patio and sat down.

12/10. Would toast.
