, USFS TNF, Olympic Valley Fire, North Lake Tahoe Fire, Northstar Fire, North Tahoe Fire, Truckee Police are on scene of a vegetation fire behind the Safeway Shopping Center in Truckee.
Update! Vegetation fire called Butterfield Fire is still holding at 10-12 acres.
Units will be on scene into the evening.
Evacuation order for TRK E112.
Stay clear of areas and watch out for emergency vehicles, aircraft will be overhead.

UPDATE 3:57 PM - The TRK-E112 evacuation zone has been split into two zones- east and west due to the fire location being west of this temporary zone line. TRK-E112A remains under EVACUATION ORDER. TRK-E112B evacuation order has been lifted.
The Legacy Trail will remain closed!
TNF is currently conducting a control burn 🔥 in the French Meadows area. Wind is pushing the smoke into the Truckee area. No Threat to Truckee!
This burn will stop at nights and TNF will continue burning for approximately 2 wks as conditions allow.
1:40 am this morning, Truckee Fire 🔥called to reported vegetation fire at DPR across from US Bank. Truckee & CalFire crews able to make access to extinguish a 1/4 acre veg fire. No structures threatened and no one was injured, cause under investigation.

CAL FIRE, Northstar Fire assisted Truckee Fire District at a structure fire with extension to the wildland in Lahontan. High winds hampered suppression efforts. No additional structures were damaged. All occupants escaped the fire uninjured. Cause of fire is being investigated.
Today on the North Fire: Helicopters dropped water to slow the fire’s spread allowing dozers and hand crews to construct containment line on the fire’s edge. Engines pumped water through hose lays that supported firefighters as they mopped-up and held existing containment lines.

. TNF is prescribed burning 204 acres that will help protect over 1,400 homes in the area from catastrophic wildfire.

On Thursday, December 1, 2022, shortly before 6:30pm, Truckee Fire crews responded to a residential structure fire in the Pla-Vada neighborhood. Upon arrival, responders found a single family residence fully involved with fire.

Fire CERT team joined forces with the American Red Cross Gold Country Region to visit the residents of the Truckee Donner Senior Apartments to install new smoke detectors and provide emergency preparedness education.

Seasonal Grasses are dry, flashy fuels that can ignite and move quickly during a wildfire. Cut grasses, before 10 AM, to no longer than 4”. It is never too late to remove dry and dead vegetation around your home to help decrease ignition sources.
