PSA for those trying to use Rollins Lake to sneak past the I-80 closure: You. Will. Not. Get. Through. I-80 remains CLOSED between Applegate and the Nevada state line. You will be turned around and you're putting crews at risk who are working to clear downed trees, snow, etc.

The rapid containment of the Boca Fire is attributed to the early detection by TNF Babbitt Lookout Shelley Purser & TNF Fire response. No heat or smoke was found after patrolling the Austin Fire today. The Austin & Boca Fire will continue to be patrolled by TNF Fire resources.

American River Fuels is taking advantage of early snow cover and are currently firing piles in the French Meadows pile burn plan today before more snow makes burning difficult. The current light snow cover has left the piles dry enough to burn and stop spread. (pictured)

#MosquitoFire 10/8/2022 County Big Trees Grove, located in the Tahoe NF was identified as one of the values at risk, as it is home to the 6 northern most giant sequoias. Crews reached containment within 4 miles of the grove, leaving the trees unharmed.

#MosquitoFire Morning Update 10/15/22 Acreage: 76,788 Containment: 95% Firefighters continue to use methods such as mop up and cold trailing to find and extinguish heat. Smoke may still be visible well interior until a major wetting event occurs. Suppression repair continues.

Small, early season fire E of Sugar Pine Reservoir on the American River Ranger District NE of Foresthill. Approx 25 acres with various resources working the fire, including aircraft. Sugar Pine Road is closed due to fire and smoke. Forest visitors are asked to avoid the area.

#LoyaltonFire Update: California Interagency Incident Management Team 10 will transition command of the Fire to Sierra Front Team 1 at 0600 on Aug 24. The fire is currently 93% contained and is 47,029 acres. It has been a pleasure to be here... thank for all your good wishes!

TNF Task Force 4662 made up of Tahoe Hotshots, E361 E331 WT231 w/Task Force Leader E362 Captain Zac Stockdale was mobilized to answer the call for immediate need fire support from the Six Rivers National Forest where 12 new lightning fires started overnight near Willow Creek CA
