For those asking why her arms are long: I decided to place her hands in this position because this is where they looked best with the camera (85 mm). If I moved them closer to her face, they would have looked like they were too close to her face, and her eyeline wouldn't work.

I love how this has sparked the curiosity of so many people. I encourage those interested to experiment with a real camera or a digital camera in 3D software so you can grasp the concepts and why these choices were made. Have fun!!

This moment was special to animate. It was at the end of production and I was tired. I woke up every day trying to bring the emotion necessary to the hugging shots. I wish I could improve them, but regardless, they represent something powerful.

@pluvillion At the start of the shot her arms aren't stretched as much. Both hands go out of frame and come back in more stretched out. Her shoulders have to be there due to the framing, but I had to make the hands feel connected to them to sell it.
