Elly De La Cruz June hype is emblematic of how the Statcast era can make us dumber. Exit velocity is presented as equally important to meaningful stats like barrel rate, chase rate, K% and BB%. It makes for flashy Tweets & highlights, but also poor analysis & worse outcomes.
