I went to Tech’s practice last night. Coach Beard calls out a player to shoot 2 FT’s. For every miss the coaches and players have to do 10 push-ups. I did sit-ups instead. When I finished 3 Tech players rushed over to help me up! My players never did that! LOL!

The culture at Texas Tech has not changed. Tech AD, Kirby Hocutt stayed in house when Chris Beard left for Texas. He elevated Mark Adams, Tech defensive guru Mark Adams. Sean Sutton does a great job with Tech’s guards and with their offensive attack. Two head coaches w experience

When the ACC ended up taking BC over UCONN they made a huge mistake. UConn has great facilities in every sport. There are high schools in Texas with better facilities than BC. BC has no tradition in any sport. UConn has a super tradition in WBB, MBB and baseball. UCONN =NE’s team

Well you obviously never played college or professional basketball. Listen to Steve Jave. There is an imaginary circle around the spot where Paul left the floor to shoot. If a defender steps into that circle he is automatically hit with a foul. It saves sprained+ broken ankles.

I watched Nadolny as a timid boy trying to figure everything out. He kept working and improving and this year he produced bigtime on both ends of the floor. A competitive young man!

Referee Doug Sermons turned this game around. When Nadolny got mauled by an Ok St player and the ball went out of bounds off the Cowboy. Sermons then hit Nadolny with a technical because he walked away to avoid trouble. The Raiders were up by 11. Coach Beard won’t like the tape!

Anthony Grant has Dayton back in the Top 25 after a long absence. Doing that while carrying the A10 on their backs is not easy to do. Dayton was probably a one seed last season with the talent to win a national title in 2020. Maybe Crutcher can make it happen in 2021.

I am always calm when Tristen has the ball. I played PG for UCONN from 1965-67 so when I watch them play I watch it through the PG. That’s also the way I coached all of my teams. Tristen is a great ball handler. He knows where his teammates are. He also keeps me calm! 😎

I knew Dean Smith quite well. He never would have turned down an NIT bid. Growing up near NYC, the NIT was a better tournament and every game was on tv. Only the NCAA final was televised. Many young coaches made their bones in the NIT and I’m one of them. Dean Smith love the NIT!

Dan Hurley is a great talent evaluator. If a player is tough and wants to be coached, plus athletic, Coach Hurley will develop 4’s and make them 5’s in two years. Attitude and coachability mean everything to him. I’m proud to know him. He’s a truth teller. Most kids respect that!

As you know I spent a lot of time with Texas Tech and Chris Beard. Culver has a great motor and he's a great NBA prospect. He'll be a PG in year 2. His FT shooting improved and he'll be shooting 80+% soon. His 3 needs work but he's coachable and he loves to work. A real team guy!

This UCF team should have been a 6 or 7 seed. They proved it again today. 3 superstars (Fall, Taylor and Dawkins). UCF plays well with pace and when it's a halfcourt grinder. Fall lives in the lane on D. You have to lure him away from the paint by setting ballscreens with his man

I am one voice but you are correct about Kelvin Sampson being up for National COY! He doesn't chase 1 and Done talent. He projects underrated players like Armani Brooks. A team of hungry players. They dominated Michigan for 39 minutes and 59 seconds in the 2nd round. F4 in 2019!

The officiating in the WVA vs Marshall game is terrible. They miss a shooter getting hammered and call a Mickey Mouse touch call. They can’t keep up the fast pace so they make “guess calls” from left field. No consistency!

In my first year at Texas I had to play the schedule that was handed down to me. When we played Top 25 teams we packed the FEC. The others? Not so much! Every year after my first the schedule got harder and harder. Chris Beard needed time to gel in 2021-22. That’s what’s going on

@franfraschilla UH is a true team, led by the Davis guys. One kills opponents from 15 ft and the other from 25. I love the pace and the playmaking of Robinson and Gray. Kelvin Sampson is an elite coach!

I humbly disagree. Davis took off before the defender got set. His right foot was there but his left foot was dragging out of the restricted area. Contact was made by the left arm not his chest. No call? OK. Charge? No way! Undefeated ranked Houston? Let's go to overtime!

Tony, let the players decide the outcome, not a referee! Worst call I've seen in 50+ years. The double dribble they missed was inexcusable. The breathing call at the end was absurd! Don't listen to the analysts. They are under orders : do not question referees' calls! NCAA suits!

In the spring of 1996 Arizona played 8 games in Australia. They finished 0-8. The following season Arizona won the NCAA championship! The competition is extremely tough. Look for Houston to have another great season in ‘23-24.

Cam Spencer is one of the best Portal Pickups in the country! He’s a perfect compliment for Newton. Cam is a tough defender. He can play PG or the 2. He’s always moving and competing for rebs and loose balls. He finishes well and he’s a very good mid range jump shot.

As a former UConn player I am thrilled that UConn is back in the Big East. New England is the birthplace of basketball. Football used to be big in the Ivy League ( in the 1950’s! Basketball is and always will be king in the East. The Big East can again be the best in CBB!
