Do our teachers, nurses, and soldiers deserve a pay rise?
Absolutely, and I wanted to spend a few moments with you to explain why.
This pay award is a big step forward if you want your children to be educated, our sick to be healed, and Britain to be safe.
Our town made history this week. When you vote Labour, we get change with Labour.
And I’m thrilled to say Bournemouth has two Labour MPs who will work tirelessly for you.
Great to be joined by
@Feargal_Sharkey
in Bournemouth East.
Brilliant to go onto people’s doorsteps together to talk about sewage and Labour’s plan to clean up our water.
Our natural beauty is on the ballot paper, vote Labour on 4 July! 🗳️🌍
Brilliant to campaign for Wakefield’s Labour candidate
@simonlightwood
. People had lovely things to say about Simon on their doorsteps, he’s going to be an excellent
@UKLabour
MP 🌹
Oxford’s Citizens’ Assembly has told
@OxfordCity
how we can build a zero carbon city council and city. We’ve listened and today we’re responding with a £19m climate emergency budget for a wide range of new decarbonisation measures. Find out more here 👉
The Taliban are a brutal dictatorship forcing Afghan women to live in fear.
It is beyond the pale that Bournemouth East’s MP is doing PR for the Taliban.
No Member of Parliament should be doing propaganda for dictators.
The Tories are ruining our country and Britain deserves better.
We need a Labour Government and we’re going to work our socks off to deliver it.
Proud to be selected as the Labour prospective parliamentary candidate for Bournemouth East.
Many said Labour couldn’t win in Bournemouth East. Today we have a Labour MP. Thank you.
Our team of volunteers has visited 40,000+ doorsteps all year round. We’re listening, we care, and we’re very excited about this opportunity to serve 🌅
A huge thank you to everyone who supported my re-election! I feel very honoured to have been returned for a third term with an increased majority and to top the ballot. Looking forward to supporting residents in St Clement’s, the ward I proudly call home 🌹
I opposed the Bibby Stockholm barge as a parliamentary candidate.
I’m pleased that our Labour Government will be ending the use of the barge.
It’s the right thing to do.
Week one in London is done and I’m heading home! ✅
I’ve been learning the ropes. From next week, I’ll be getting properly stuck in on the issues that matter to you.
Oxford businesses have backed plans to safely maintain social distances once shops reopen:
👉 92% back more secure cycle parking
👉 83% back road closures and safety measures outside schools
👉 81% back new segregated cycle ways
👉 81% for new zones for outdoor tables and chairs
Starting fires in neighbourhoods while people sleep is unacceptable. Risking people’s safety is horrible.
Fire crews had to put out flames, our police need to deal with arson while being stretched by COVID19.
Our public sector and communities shouldn’t have to put up with this.
The actual Prime Minister of the United Kingdom cannot give the daily public health briefing on time because his chief advisor is giving a press conference on Downing Street land to explain why he broke Government guidelines to protect public health and the NHS. Let that sink in.
Oxfordshire County Council’s Cabinet has just voted against their own bus gates plans.
They voted this way although a majority of respondents in the largest transport consultation in memory backed the bus gates.
So, they recognise the problem. But they lack the will to fix it.
Brilliant to see Oxford’s Broad Street—one of Europe’s most beautiful streets—transformed into Broad Meadow by
@OxfordCity
@ODS_doinggood
.
Thanks to the businesses and citizens that made this happen, particularly our council and direct services teams.
We hope you enjoy it 🌸
I had the privilege of making my maiden speech today. I wanted to share what Bournemouth is and who we are, as has been shared on countless doorsteps.
And I want to work alongside my colleagues, cross-party, to help deliver a plan to make our Bournemouth better. 🏠
Another city centre street in Oxford will be closed to traffic to help local businesses!
George Street will be pedestrianised in part to allow outdoor dining and boost businesses during these tough times.
I won’t be sharing the inflammatory statement by Donna Jones.
This statement is released in Ms Jones’ capacity as “the UK’s most senior police and crime commissioner”.
I have written to Dorset’s Commissioner to raise concerns and ask him to distance himself from the statement.

. Used to be said that
@lisanandy
was the bold choice. Nah. She’s the inevitable choice if you want someone who can back the heartlands and provide future supporters with a path to the party 🚌

Nobody sets fire to a crucial support service to “raise concerns”.
@CitizensAdvice
are brilliant. Time and again I see the free advice they offer change lives and help people.
Now their support has been burned to the ground.
We don’t want this thuggery in our communities.
The place set alight last night was Citizens Advice, Sunderland. Its manager this morning told me they’re devastated and now trying to figure out how to help the people they were supposed to see

As a gay man and former National Secretary of
@LGBTLabour
, I'm proud to be supported through the Chris Smith List 🏳️🌈
In the late 80s and 90s Chris was flying an often lonely flag for LGBT+ equality.
There’s lots to do to achieve equality—and we’re all building on Chris’ legacy.
❤️ this! Just a few hours after an arson attack required a visit by fire fighters, Cowley has fought back with the very best show of community spirit 😀
Do you know what’s anti-business? It’s not removing vehicles, it’s letting them monopolise our streets.
Our streets are clogged up by vehicles that don’t stop, don’t spend, when they could have tables and chairs.
Listen to businesses directly. Here’s the Wig & Pen on George St.
@Tobias_Ellwood
I agree—but you obey the Conservative Whip and vote with the Government.
You enabled the Illegal Migration Bill to go forward and embolden colleagues to do down Britain like this.
Why are you toeing the party line, facilitating this Bill, and emboldening reckless Conservatives?
Streets will be pedestrianised in the city centre again to promote an outdoor café culture for restaurants and bars, and give them a post-Covid boost ☕️ ☀️
.
@AngelaRayner
’s face says it all! Our councils have been cut so much, yet
#BurglarBoris
is planning a £300m raid on our town halls. Great to see Angela championing Labour councils and supporting the difference we make 🌹
@LGA_Labour
Great to bring
@darrenpjones
back to Southbourne to talk with amazing business owners.
Ricky from Syds Slaps does brilliant work locally— it’s important that Labour’s deputy shadow chancellor of the exchequer hears his views and those of other local businesses.
She’s electric! ⚡️ Oxford's first electric bin lorry has arrived. Great to see
@OxfordCity
’s direct services company
@ODS_doinggood
moving forward with the electrification of its fleet, providing emission free waste collection services across the city.🔌
Delighted to win the Environment and Sustainability Pioneer award. Local government is the best place to work with people to achieve change. This award also belongs to the
@OxfordCity
team that it’s my honour to work with, local climate activists, and partners!

My dad had a stoma and it helped to make his life so much better.
I also remember the depression he felt when he got one and how it never truly went away.
Hearing stories like
@mattforde
’s would have made all the difference to how he felt about his stoma.
I used to be disgusted by stomas.
When I realised I'd have one, I was heartbroken.
But it's such a small change. It's nothing to fear.
@AdeleRoberts
,
@stomababe
, Louise Thompson and Mollie Pearce have given me strength by talking about theirs.
So here's mine!
#NewProfilePic
.
@OxfordCity
has pedestrianised St Michael’s Street to:
🍽 enable outdoor dining so local businesses can serve more people while they keep apart
💰 back Oxford businesses
🚶♂️ create a more walkable city centre
Great to have the backing of businesses! 🍽☀️
Some news—I’ll be joining the mental health charity Elmore Community Services as its new Chief Executive. It’s a dream role. Elmore give crucial support to people with multiple and complex needs who slip through the cracks of services. Can’t wait to start!
It’s Mum’s birthday and she’s alone. We lost Dad a year ago. Mum’s been grieving his loss and the loss of normality, alone, for months. She’s invested everything in Christmas but Government has ripped up our plans. Rules clearly had to change, but did it need to happen like this?
Fantastic to see
@OxfordCity
agree a motion at Full Council in favour of low traffic neighbourhoods. People know their streets better than anyone else and they have lots of useful insights to share—councillors unanimously backed consultation to achieve lasting meaningful change.
Excellent to be joined by our next
@UKLabour
Education Secretary
@bphillipsonMP
in Bournemouth East! Lots of support on the doorstep from people who want a fresh start with
