r.i.p. baba harold mckinney🎹
please don't bother your characters and data arguing with my posts about human rights or liberation for any historically oppressed people, climate change, capitalism etc. i am not arguing and i guarantee idgaf about your airhead ass opinion on it and will simply mute you.
@earringdealer1
LIIIIIIIKE!!!
somebody tweet about crowdfunding for they mama funeral after a long fight with chronic illness and the replies got a picture of a ww cooch.
dudes who loved boondocks and
a) missed that it's satire
b) thought dewey was 'woker' than huey, got really deep into his character and identified with him 😂
ok where's the threads of the best house/techno/disco etc please
we were just talking about songs we love but never knew the names of. house is like that for me. less go!
my mom had seen the original musical live with a little powerhouse vocalist, young stephanie mills as dorothy (a 12 yr old kid). some people in their age range back then thought grown diana ross as dorothy was...silly 😬
you & everyone who agrees with you are very reactionary and don't bother figuring out what words mean. you just see "oh ew a gay, oh no pronouns" and any sense you may have had just evaporates. the "nuclear family" was created by the people who don't even see cousins as "family"
lonely ≠ alone
alone ≠ lonely
take it from an elder, i was lonelier in my marriage than before OR after it - because nothing's lonelier than somebody being right there in your face daily and you still don't feel loved.
i get being tired of masking but did people actually forget medical & other types of protective masks existed and have been used FOR THE LONGEST before there was a covid 19 pandemic??? so now y'all actually believe NO masks should be worn EVER? not in oncology? not in NICUs???
Fun fact: Martin Luther King Jr. opposed blocking roadways & transit paths indefinitely because he understood it was more likely to piss people off than convince them.
This is an exercise in vanity, not activism.
you can't SEXUALIZE a minnie riperton song about sex, and she was very sexual in LOTS of her lyrics. she had a song called *YOUNG* willing and able ffs. and people were clutching their pearls THEN like yall doing to chloe NOW. LOL please hang it up. just scroll past, sheesh.
Earlier today, I tested positive for COVID-19. I am experiencing cold-like symptoms but otherwise feel fine which I credit to being vaccinated and boosted. I will continue to work from home while following the CDC guidelines for isolation.
@itsjustfatimah
@browjoi
and everyone doesn't get the 2 weeks. lots of places have no time off at all. IF you're sick you Might not get fired, if you can prove you were sick enough, and they accept your proof.
i think because although a lot of us "know" on a surface level, people don't fully *get it* and lots of our people approach things like this with a kinda callous attitude. many still don't take it seriously. to feel it more personally and deeply and not shelve it away.
this reminds me of what
@LordeBarrington
said a couple weeks ago 😓 these songs ain eem old enough for younger gens to be out of touch. the rest of us know songs from our parents & grands gens... what's the excuse here again? 😔
we are completely desensitized because where's the outrage??? this should be plastered on every news outlet and social media site! why don't people think it's coming for them soon too??? what have the people become?
yes, people see african/black people as if suffering, pain and misery is our lot in life and that it's somehow "supposed" to be this way. they even use us as a go-to talking point when they experience pain and oppression.
you're actually wrong here anyway. africa is waaayy too big & too ancient for you to say they're not part of the diaspora. there's people in one african country who were born in another. some whose lineage is from elsewhere. there's black people from the americas living there..🙄
how is a word old black people in the 40s/60s said to other black people about how society treated them, "shorthand" for a word white conservatives recently made up a few years ago?
"traditional families were not nuclear" DOES NOT AND NEVER MEANT "GET RID OF FATHERS" YOU FUCKING ROCKS FOR BRAINS MY GOD
it means FAMILY IS MUCH MORE than that corny, capitalist "man+woman+child" formula. STOP MAKING UP SHIT AND STOP PUTTING WORDS IN PEOPLE'S MOUTHS
stop lyin, people say stuff every single mf day about women being "80%" naked. just dress htf you want bcus no matter what women do somebody gon talk shit. THAT'S the issue here.
Y’all don’t say nothing when a woman is 80% nekkid but have an issue when she wants to be modest & that doesn’t sit right with me. All I see on my TL is women being next to nekkid or nekkid. Why has that become the new norm?
this is why y'all should stop saying it's for cultural reasons and just tell people to gtfo yo bidness. you'll never convince me that eating meat AT ALL is itself inherently unethical as opposed to the meat industry. humans are animals and some animals eat animals.
Vegans are very based for calling out indigenous people for eating meat. If an indigenous person is living in an urban center, it is unethical for them to eat meat just as much as it is for everyone else. No amount of "it's a cultural practice" changes that.
mehhhhhh...
if we've learned anything first hand over the past decade it's that no amount of knowing facts matters to people who are determined to have their opinions and feelings upheld over all else. it doesn't matter how intelligent or educated the person is in the end
MOST CULTURES OBSERVE EXTENDED OR COMMUNAL FAMILY SYSTEMS NOT NUCLEAR
NUCLEAR: put elders in homes so your can grind for the system
NUCLEAR: you can only attend approved relatives' funerals
NUCLEAR: if one parent can't/doesn't step up, no one else who helps matters/is valid
it's not a mistake when they don't specify. it's intentional. it's non afr people's way of implying the whole of africa is unimportant. it's propaganda.
while we discussing house's origins don't forget that just because you think someone is a certain sexual orientation or you perceive them as a certain gender doesn't mean you're right. some people we now know weren't cishet never came out to the world.
@Conundrum9999
it's a picture of Michael Jackson smiling with his teeth showing like when he says "hee hee"
and another picture of the Powerpuff girls villain "him"
🙂
call me a conspiracy theorist, irdc but i know in my soul this was intentional. all the "where's the good music" questions over the past decade were not just old people complaining!!
unfortunately, black americans WERE taught that slavery civilized us. it took until the boomer generation for [some of] them to start breaking free of that brainwashing that was passed down since some the earliest years of enslavement. many STILL think this to this day
yep free to walk for miles searching for a payphone when your car broke down. free to run out of gas when somebody gave you bad directions. free to wait somewhere for an hour not knowing what happened to the person you're supposed to be meeting up with. free to try flagging a cab
"crime" does not automatically mean danger of violence. you DO realize crime includes stealing a bag of chips, loitering, people who dislike each other getting into a fight, shoplifting, using or selling weed, driving with a suspended license cause you don't have insurance money?
it also means families can be healthy in many many ways. if your mother and or father can't take care of you, abuse you, DIE, etc, there should be a LARGER SYSTEM IN PLACE, that is NOT the state, to make sure you are loved, raised, and well taken care for! THIS is what it means!!
can white kids be turned into little racists? can little moneyed kids be taught to be little classists? are some kids somehow immune to being conditioned into bigoted thinking???
Calling your son a little misogynist is kinda wild. We gotta stop using the most extreme language to describe behavior, ESPECIALLY when it comes to black boys
@DeeLaSheeArt
i can't believe what people will defend. of course no one should defend others being harmed but it blows my mind how many people only care if something happens to THEM.
they'd be lying thru they teef cause it's a trope all over cartoons, movies, stories, you name it. it's pretty much inescapable. ntm dems mock southern states every time something bad there happens, AND blamed trump winning on southern people being unintelligent
I don’t like when people act like they’ve never heard anti-southern sentiments. It’s not helpful to say “I’ve never heard about this” especially when people are talking about a bias. Ask any person with a strong southern accent how they get treated as they move around the country
but your savior posed to be still "coming back" thousands of years later? lol ok. my ancestors was here a few yrs ago. at least i know they really existed.
I don’t know who needs to hear this but your ancestors are dead.
They CANNOT lead you or guide you or visit & talk to you. Those are demons.
Happy Sunday!
how many people in the public eye does it take, to go thru the same pattern of
-being mocked for their looks
-we find out they were suffering from something
-"omg you never know what somebody's going thru"
-"oops oh no we were mean we'll never do it again"
-repeat it all anyway
if we really being honest, SHOWING EVERYONE WHAT YOU WEAR isn't modest. modeling 8 different outfits on video and posting it to an unlocked social media account isn't modesty. words mean what they mean. the patriarchal thinking is screaming thru.
that a lot of the systems and professionals there to "help" are absolutely not helpful and sometimes even harmful. saying "get therapy"/"find therapists near you with this app" etc is not doing what people think it's doing.
finding good care is a LOT of work which can be painful.
for the 100th time, it's not the clothes it's the "look at me, i'm better than women who like to dress sexy/revealing" attitude. why are they even in it? they minding they bidness
not how it works dear. no one has EVER expected anything less than this from me and i'm a woman. i had to decide for myself that my mental health was a priority. nobody can do that but you.
whew if they were alive for twitter these nggas would have them all blocked and call them agents of russian propaganda. lmfaooooo! and be dappin up white ppl agreeing w them in the replies.
& Those deceased revolutionary Black folks that y’all quote for their birthdays, to use in an argument, or during BHM.. Y’all would’ve hated them if yall were around during their time of existence.
and footnote: she said "maya, maya" AT THE END of "loving you," to her baby. "making love to you is all i wanna do" is obv not about maya????
every time that we....*deep sexy breath* ooooooh, i'm more in love with you" FUCK PPL THINK SHE TAUMBOUT LOL
also sampling can be just as innovative as playing traditional instruments depending on how it's done. using a chord or a note or a sound from one thing to create something completely different is NOT new. only the technology is "new" - if we're still calling 50 YRS OLD "new" 😶
the nuclear family is also 🤑 for the greedy because every single person gets a separate home from the rest of their extended family. of course their culture says they can and should OWN parts of the earth. like the earth ain't a part of nature they did NOT CREATE. ✋🏾aht aht
but that's just it they not going after usher. it was just another opportunity for them to call black women bitches and hoes. liking being serenaded by a crooner makes you a whore now. cause apparently it's 1853.
Folks acting like this over Usher, they would've ripped Bobby Brown to shreds (actually, Bobby did catch some heat, but still lol)... and all the other R&B/Soul legends that have been serenading the ladies for YEARS.....
i grew up poor and the majority of the people i grew up around were also poors LOL. i get not being able to afford nice ass dates. i'm not classist.
but the way these people go out their way to act like taking a woman out on a nice date is some sort of scam. my mind is blown.
@stillcham
our shit been outsourced and sold off to the *middest bidder, meanwhile younger black americans taumbout "them old school singers sound like slaves a hurr hurr" & "the good music is out there, buried in 27' tall blazing sand dunes! y'all just too lazy and making excuses!"
what is this constant campaign to put down what other people do in their own lives that's not hurting anybody in ANY way? i THOUGHT black people believed in minding they own bidness
Father Lark Munsee, Holy Trinity Anglican Church continues:
“We need to wake up & realize that the Cookie Monster has us fighting over crumbs while he’s feasting on the whole box by himself”
Which side are you on the crumb eaters or those who hoard the whole box for themselves?
imagine telling yourself you believe in black liberation while openly admitting you would rather a whole generation fall apart then help them sometimes, because people might think you're helpful to the women in your "community"
@marcia_too
don't waste your characters. this is not the first time she's come on here with absolutely atrocious takes and she does NOT listen when people present very reasonable arguments.
trigger warning - but this freaknik discussion is about to be an absolute disaster. we already saw from all the previous discussions about rape, abuse, child sex assault on here over the years that people don't learn a damn thing and don't listen. the white gaze is their priority
do NOT listen to those "everybody goes through ups & downs" mfs. that means people have NORMAL problems like disagreements. NOT abuse, being cheated on, being lied to, not feeling like you can be yourself, not feeling at home w them. if it ain't working you DON'T have to force it
we (as a collective) have gotten VERY detached from what those before us have gone thru, and people seem to have a hundred jokes that they think are nbd like calling singing well slave singing and saying people with wider noses and lips have "civil rights" facial features...😬
a lot of people are asking if red drank & bissap/sorrell are the same ingredients. they're not, but some black food historians say our ancestors would serve whatever drinks they could find that reminded them of it.
i think a huge part of this conversation people keep missing is that we live in a different environment and climate than any ancient ancestors did. even 100, 200 years ago the climate was not in the distress it's in now. we have ozone damage.
Shea Butter is NOT sunscreen
Oils are NOT sunscreen
We use oils and butters to COOK MEAT.
So if you put oil and butter on your flesh (meat) you are cooking your skin.
Ancient people used clays, hennas and muds on their skin to protect them from the sun/heat.
we already know it's because of venture fxcking capitalism. a couple people eating too much shrimp at a corporate chain restaurant did not cause their bankruptcy. i know you see us as a bunch of gullible fools but nawl
I'm way older and no.🤷🏾 actually when you get older and more sure of yourself it would piss you off even more cause "what did i say?" and "you can't follow simple directions?"
@heyyitsjanea
This is what y’all are tripping over??? Maybe I’m missing something but I feel 34 is a bit old to not just be grateful when this is the difference. The chocolate icing likely started as vanilla, meaning she didn’t go out of her way/do something fancy to go against his wishes.
@AriLennox
we all crave validation. humans are a social species that thrives on warmth and partnership/community. when people appear "unbothered" you don't truly know what's going on under the surface.
