There is no typeface called 'irony'.

Jess Phillips reads out the names of the 200 women murdered each year by a partner, or ex partner, in Parliament.
I gather that Dawn Butler agree to read out the names of trans people murdered each year. Problem was no trans person had been murdered that year.
Two Plank Butler.

I have been following Posie for seven years now.
I am astounded how she has transition from being a 'quite housewife' who became concerned by the trans 'woo' to a confident international trans-questioning super star.
Posie is Wonder Woman!

I tend to cross out "gender" on these sort of forms and write 'SEX'.
Recently it was my local Green Party city councillor candidate.
@blablafishcakes
There are just too, too many anti-trans and transphobic cis women deeply embedded in the Labour Party in Brighton.
Only a draconian purge of these women will bring justice for Eddie.

I'm a bloke, and I am very aware that women have to answer or the gender woo.
The last two CEOs of Stonewall have been women.
This has to be addressed. And the like of 'internalised misogyny' doesn't wash.

Butler complains that JKR doesn't challenge the pope and evangelical Christians.
This is UK, not the US. We are not Catholic and don't have an Evangelical church tradition.

Is Jo Phoenix a rabid right winger?
Or Selina Todd? Or Alison Bailey (born on the Blackbird Lays estate)? Or Maya Forstater (once of the left-leaning Centre for Global Development). Or Helen Steel (McLibel/the Spy Cops campaign)? And half a dozen Green Party women?
@RichardDawkins
71 years ago, aged 9, I was punished (detention over the morning break) when I told my school in Ireland that "God doesn't exist".
Today if I say there is "No such person as an actual trans person" I can be cast into a social outer darkness.
Progress?
A new pseudo-religion?
@HJoyceGender
@joannaccherry
As I've tweeted before.
In 1952 I was punished at my school in Ireland when I said "god doesn't exist".
In 2023 I could be punished if I say "trans people don't exist".
(Yes, some nice people believe in a god, and some nice people believe in gender woo, but...).

If there is such as the 'trans child' then the beliefs of what I will call, for lack of a better phrase, the 'GC child' must be protected in schools. (Forstater, etc). That means the GC child must be allowed to politely question any accommodations in a school for trans children.

My mum-in-law is in a care home and has increasing dementia. She sometimes thinks there are 'strange men' in her room. It hasn't happened but god help her if a trans woman, looking like a man, were dressing and cleaning her.

I use a Concise Oxford English Dictionary. Print edition. 2011 revision. A fairly common 'on your desk' dictionary in the UK.
Words not there: Transphobia, Misgender, Cis-, Dead name, Non-binary.

As I see it (bloke here) women don't have to bring in 'safety', or 'dignity' or 'privacy' or 'need to feel comfortable'.
They just have to say they don't want men in their spaces - with no reason needed.

I came across a comment by Lucas, somewhere, where she said (roughly) that she didn't believe in the transgender thing originally, but she was "educated" about it and now accepted.
No link, but the word "educated" accurate so got my attention.

That Labour nationally has cautiously welcomed the government consultation on school children and under 18 students suggests the party is, very sensibly, backtracking on the trans issue.
@ShahrarAli
At the last election the Greens got 3.3% of the vote, in an overwhelmingly Tory constituency.
So 'snowflake in Hell' chance of him/her being the MP.
But s/he will be damaging the party nationally so in seats where the Greens have a better chance.

Bloke here. I just happened to be in my 'man cave' listening to R4 when Jenny Murray(?) gave her departing talk. She described twenty *different* ways that women were women - but impishly ended "but what unites us is our biology".
@Jebadoo2
Pleased the guidance does not make pronouns mandatory.
Forstater-v-CGD confirms that GC belief is protected.
A fellow pupil of a trans pupil must then, if a 'Gender Critical Child' (see also 'Trans Child') have their GC belief protected and be able to act on and express this.

A GRC gives a protected characteristic, (and working towards one also) but just saying one is transgender is not a protected characteristic.
And children/youth under 18 can't get a GRC.
So no protections for children and youth.

Over the last ten or so years in the UK, annual trans murders have varied from one to zero.
Yes, between 1 and 0.
And two of those have been by the victim's 'intimate partner'.

Yes. Back in the day, twenty years or so, I though a trans woman was a woman who moved to being a man.
And the reverse for a trans man.
And I thought gender critical was pro-trans.

@Jebadoo2
@zeno001
Does S/wall still have the strapline "Acceptance Without Exclusion" on trans matters?
Because this commits them some outlandish things - so they _must_ give equal weight to a 16y/o girl with debilitating gender dysphoria and a bloke who likes to wear frilly knickers on a Sunday.
@SarahSurviving
@AudreySuffolk
@CarolineLucas
Back in the day, Lucas said something like (I paraphrase) "I used not to believe in the gender woo, but then some nice party colleagues took me to one side, sent me to an education camp, and now I'm a believer"
Don't know where I saw this, but saw it I did.
@AnnelieseDodds
The ban on conversion therapy was expected to be a shoo-in with cross party support.
But any delay is due to concerns around trans children (and adults) being prevented from receiving 'talking therapies' - something the trans lobbies have been shy to admit.
@MForstater
@PeterTatchell
Introduce "individual assessment" says Tatchell.
But the simple, effective and robust 'drop your trousers' test, we are told, is demeaning and intrusive.
So how would it be done?

I'm left.
But 70 years ago I was punished at my school in Ireland for saying that God did not exist.
Today I can be punished if I say trans women are just men with a delusion.
Not a lot of progress when it comes to 'woo'?
@HelenWebberley
My 2011 print edition of the Concise Oxford English Dictionary does not have the word "transphobia" in it. Nor 'deadname', 'misgender', 'cis-', 'non-binary', 'trans' as a verb or adjective. Or 'puberty blocker'.
This is all very new.

Section 28 never mentioned trans identity back when it was abolished. And for what it is worth, back then Stonewall didn't mention trans either.

Stonewall use (used?) the strapline on trans

I am always impressed [english understatement] that fashion magazines can fill page after page, month after month, with so much garbage that is essentially just about one square metre or less of coloured cloth.
@AnnelieseDodds
The press seem to have seen advanced copies of the final Cass Report which will be released tomorrow, W'day,
Any future ban on conversion therapy will be very different to that which was expected earlier.
The delay is because very reasonable people, including Cass, were worried.
@suzanne_moore
Probably Monday. An article from Freddy McConnell.
Who said at a meeting in Oxford on race and gender. that wandered into the Oppression Olympics, that he was he was "white and middle class" but "trans and gay". Which to me reads as 'white middle class heterosexual'.

My city council, Oxford, passed a resolution, that "TWAW, TMAM and NB is valid, etc"
It's OK to tell my Green councilor that I did not approve of mixed-sex toilets and for me I was GC and I didn't want my elderly and incontinent mum-in-law c Alzheimer's to use a mixed sex toilet.

I tend to notice things that other people don't notice in photographs.
And one thing is that so many trans 'women' wear oversized glasses(!) like this bloke does.
Is it because it makes their eyes look more 'feminine'?
@MrMennoTweets
As an outsider a straight bloke so I find the issue around the suggestion that gender identity theory is homophobic rather a 'theological' argument and hard to follow or understand.
All I know is the simple fact that trans women are men.
