@Ashleymorris_xo
I was enjoying an evening in my inflatable hot tub when a woman pulled into my driveway and took off with my dog, then called me from her house that was like 2 miles away to tell me she found my dog. I was like, "I was the naked guy screaming at you to not put my dog in your car"
BREAKING: A federal appeals court blocked the Biden administration's student debt relief plan, which would have lowered monthly payments for millions of borrowers.
Seriously, fuck this guy. What my friend Will went through, what he had to do, the men he saw die, the trauma he experienced, and the FIFTY FUCKING LIVES he saved is less important than some bimbo billionaire's wife getting a trinket because shes a big donor.
Let's talk MoH
1/
Trump: When we gave her the Presidential Medal of Freedom… It’s the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor— it’s actually much better because everyone who gets the Congressional Medal, they’re soldiers. They’re either in very bad shape because they’ve been hit so many
@itskristofer
An Elon Musk fanbois called the college I work for and tried to get me fired because I posted this meme. He said it was obviously a death threat against him.
What these men endured for this nation pales in comparison to whatever the fuck this grinning clown did to buy her Presidential Medal of Freedom. One you earn on the worst day of your life being a damned hero. The other you just buy like a purse.
Trump is an asshole.
Fin/
@jazz_inmypants
Last summer I criticized Musk and this dork got all bent out of shape, so I posted the classic meme. He contacted my department chair and tried to get me fired because he said it was a death threat.
@TheRachelFisher
@marcellacomedy
At 18, a week before college began, I was hit by a car and left for dead. Insurance refused to cover as the ambulance took my unconscious body to a "non-preferred provider". I was bankrupt, had to drop out of school as the accident resulted in my loss of an athletic scholarship.
The MoH is not something you can buy. You don't enter a raffle. You don't wake up one day and it's just your lucky day.
As a matter of fact, more often than not, receiving the MoH is very likely commemorating the worst god damned day of your life. You can see the pain.
2/
People talked about $GME a whole bunch in January, but I don't think you realize just what is happening in the market and how this one stock could result in the greatest transfer of wealth in human history... so, I give you this thread:
Why is GameStop a game changer?
1/
@danadonly
Elon's parents ran an apartheid emerald mine. Gate's dad ran the number 1 law firm in the world and his mom sat on the board at IBM. Zuckerberg's dad gave him $100k to start FB. Rich people beget rich people.
Today, the federal minimum wage is $7.25, and the average year of college is $23k a year at public colleges plus another $18,500 for living expenses.
So, in order to pay for one year of college, you must work at minimum wage full-time for nearly three years.
We fuct up.
Fin/
@nameshiv
To add to this story, while it was at anchor waiting for its spot on the Canal, it drifted into a cock and balls pattern with a butt. For your viewing pleasure:
At this time federal minimum wage was $1.25 an hour. This meant he could do 5 weeks of full-time work in the summer and pay for an entire year's-worth of school.
3/
My father went to school at Virginia Tech way back in the day. Back then his tuition, room & board, and even laundry service (he would hand is dirty laundry to some lady and she woukd hand it back clean and folded) was $125 a semester.
2/
All that being said, let's return to Trump being a collasal hunk of shit. He had no problem using Will and other MoH recipients as a photo-op when it suited him. Will has the MoH, a Purple Heart, and THREE Bronze Stars.
23/
@TheRachelFisher
@marcellacomedy
Not o ly did I have to pay off some $40k in medical debt, I was also given the opportunity to then tack on $100k in student loans to finally get my education.
Moral of this story: fuck any candidate who doesn't support universal healthcare and tuition-free college.
An addendum:
I've noticed something with the quote tweets and aggressively angry responses; when you scroll their accounts most of them are super racist.
You see, racists don't believe in a meritocracy. Obviously only rich people should go to college.
That investigation landed on Obama's desk, & he decided Will would be awarded the medal he earned. At the medal ceremony, Will asked the president to be reinstated to active duty & that he never wanted to leave but was forced out. Obama said 'yes'.
20/
The Army brass protested claiming they didn't know what kind of physical shape Will was in, and wanted to delay, but Will was running marathons and was in perfect health, so Obama forced them to reinstate Will at the rank of Major.
21/
How did Will Swenson get here?
He was a smart athletic kid. The child of two college professors. He worked as a white water rafting guide in the summers, skied in the winters (he's an amazing skiier) and then 9/11 happened his senior year of college.
3/
Then, one day I log into my computer at the college and there is my buddy Will's face on the main page of the Seattle Times website receiving the Medal of Honor from president Barack Obama. Holy shit. Will's a fucking badass.
16/
Will answered the call and joined the Army as a lieutenant. He did Ranger and Airborne schools, and as a member fo the 10th Mountain Division (I told you, he's a great skiier), Will did three deployments: one to Iraq and two to Afghanistan, often as SOF
4/
...where to land. Helmet cam from the crew recorded, what was for the first time, heroic acts of a MoH recipient, & Will kissed his sargeant on the forehead and told his friend to stay strong, & then went back into to battle to save even more lives.
7/
@itskristofer
Oh, there was also the guy who was so mad when I said that Dr. Luke was indeed a public figure who raped Ke$ha that he called me, at the geology company I own, to try and get me to fire me... but that was last year.
The fucked up thing was, I had been reading for months about what Will had been going through and that he was about to become the first loving officer to receive the MoH since Vietnam. I just never associated "Captain William Swenson" with my friend Will Swenson🤦♂️
17/
The brass hid Will's MoH paperwork, and forced him out of the Army. That's when Will and I became friends and ski buddies. I'd often find him staring at the Ganjgal Valley on Google Earth.
13/
Will and his company suddenly found themselves pinned down on three sides being mowed down by Taliban who controlled the valley. His sargeant took a bullet through the neck and Will laid in an open field under fire holding a giant orange target so an aid copter could see...
6/
When Will returned to command he gave them a piece of his mind, "What are we even doing out there, we may as well be at home playing Nintendo!"
Will's commanding officer recommended him and Meyer for the MoH, but the brass didn't like having their decisions questioned.
12/
Three Marines, a Navy corpsman, and nine Afghan soldiers died that day because command refused air support and artillery, and Sgt Westbrook passed away back in the states.
11/
In 2009 Will was now a Captain, second in command of an embedded training unit with the Afghan Army. They were ordered to make contact with the villages in Ganjgal Valley because no one had had contact with them in literally years.
5/
The battle was intense, the truck Swenson and Sgt Westrook had been driving was destroyed, Will stole another truck from a farmer and went back into battle to grab wounded and the dead under intense fire being wounded himself in the process.
9/
Oh goodness, I forgot to include the very weird witch hunt investigation the Army brass did against Will and other veterans over an Amazon review. So very weird!
The battle raged on and on and Will begged command for air support and was refused time and again. The battle dragged on for hours with little help from command.
10/
I'd ask Will what he was looking at, and he'd say something like, "just looking at cool places around the world for a ski resort." And change the subject. When I first met Will, I didn't know what he did. I had asked once, and he'd always have a joke answer for people.
14/
He'd tell people "I sell drugs to middle schoolers" so they would laugh and not press for more. I figured he had either been military or a spook or something. So, I let him be, and I would just be his ski buddy if that's what he needed.
15/
After Meyer received his MoH, Landay raised a bit of a stink pointing out the unquestioning heroics of what Will did that day. This lead to a former Marine General and then congressmen to launch an investigation into why Will's paperwork went missing.
19/
Dakota Meyer had received his MoH in 2011, and a McClatchy reporter embedded with their unit, Jonathan Landay, wrote about the battle (with names removed, of course) the very next day.

I haven't printed anything in color ever. Where does all this cyan go?!

Back in like 2012 Washington had gay marriage on the ballot, and two homophobic ladies from a local comments section called the Art Institute to try and get me fired for calling them "bigots". My boss informed them that after the bill passed he hoped to marry his boyfriend.
@Starseed1756671
College is expensive because colleges have huge admknkstrations required to process student financial aid. Just make public colleges tuition-free and the cost plummets.
@FishingFather44
I loved and found value in almost every college course I took. I chose a liberal arts school because I wanted a rounded education and it has served me well as I have many interests.
I love education and want college made available to all who do.
Hey,
@Mariners
, we're a decade into this thing and Jerry dipoto has never managed to draft, sign, or trade for a player who managed a .900+ OPS for a complete season. It's time to move on. Got get Kim Ng. Go get her now before someone else does.

I hope Sneako has to pay out of pocket to fix his face and then someone does it again.
Today is the anniversary of that awful day. It's been 14 years since a drunk driver going 100mph in the wrong direction on I-95 took the love of my life away from us; so this is the 14th time I have made this plea:
Don't drink and drive.
mouthed degenerates from internet message boards, and the fear is palpable.
Thus, potentially the greatest transfer of wealth in human history is but days or weeks away!

The EMTs took me to the non-preferred state hospital because they said I looked like I didn't have insurance, so they didn't take me to the in-network private hospital that was mere blocks from my accident.
Way to go, America.
$GME has the power to not only be a $7 trillion company making Ryan Cohen possibly the world's first trillionaire, but to essentially see almost all the cash on earth go to fulfilling a whole bunch of shitty bets a bunch of douchebros made filter into the hands of poor 29/

Why do people marry someone like that? Like, when did she first learn that he was a useless baby? If it was before he proposed, why did she say yes? If it was after they got married, how did he keep it secret for so long?
schlubs from reddit who called their bluff. Something like 63 multibillion hedge funds could face annihilation.
It takes $1 million in liquidity and a yearly salary of $200k or more to invest in most HFs. Much of the 1% is about to lose all their wealth to a bunch of potty- 30/
Do you know who sucks? Like really, really sucks? Tulsi Gabbard. She's a lying sack of shit who works for interests outside the US and I bet is under investigation for it. Let's look at why she sucks so much that she got put on the no-fly list:
1/
It all begins with the fact "retail is dying" people buy things online, games now have downloadable content and you don't need to by disks or cartridges any more. So, people don't visit the store as often. The storefronts are tired and 20 years old, and profits were spent 2/
@grimace_666
@biancarenaelim
They're like a school of fish. The bullying must be done one-on-one, otherwise they just swarm around each other saying things like "bro" and "fireball" and 30 seconds later they're memory is wiped clean.
Sometime last year some shit ass hedge fund bros saw $GME struggling, then got hit by the pandemic and decided it was time to short the shot out of the stock and become kajillionaires. They borrowed the stock, millions of shares of it, from the index funds and then sold it 6/
@JesseKellyDC
You use the term "baby" when you actually mean "fetus". Meanwhile, you want kids who actually exist to starve if their parents are having a hard time.
on buying back 30$ of its stick to keep the price from dropping so much they get delisted. They went from 100 million shares to 70 million shares (20 million of which are owned by insiders and can't be freely traded). Then about 35 million of the remaining 50 million shares 3/
something in the neighborhood of 200 million to 500 million shares to fill their orders. There are only 50 million physical shares in existence, all now in the hands of retailer investors who are refusing to sell... and millions more naked shares from call options will be ITM 20/
are owned by big investment and index funds, while the remaining 15 million shares are owned by retail investors. Average folk like you and me who are too poor to be invited by a hedge fund but put these shares in our meager portfolios or 401k.
It is important that you 4/
expecting the price to crater and then scooping up the cheap shares and giving them back to the people they borrowed them from. If $GME were to bankrupt, then they wouldn't even need to give back the shares or even declare capital gains. Billions in profit tax free! 7/
remember that there are only 50 million shares that can trade.
Now, to stay afloat GameStop issued some bonds and the first big set of bonds (imagine as of they took out a multimillion mortgage on their entire busoness) scheduled to mature do so in the next week or so. 5/
So, fully expecting GameStop to default on their bonds, they shorted, and they borrowed more and they shorted, and they borrowed some more and they shorted... but who was buying the shares? Regular dorks like us. Retail investors, were buying and hoarding the stock. 8/
$480 in a year. It wasn't that $GME generated business that warranted such a high price, but the fact that the HFs got out over their skis and their greed hoisted their Petar. 11 hedge funds went bankrupt and the biggest, Melvin Capital was down 53%! The stock fell and 12/
and the hedgfund hasn't found the shares, brokerage A is required to liquidate the hedge fund's assets and buy the stock at any price to fulfill their obligation. If the retail investors demand $1 million a share, then brokerage A has to pay $1 million a share and liquidate 24/
this had gotten out of control and the index funds wanted their shares back, but the price of the stock had risen above what the HFs had shorted it for, and the retail owners refused to sell. This is called a "short squeeze" and the result was the stock going from $2.57 to 11/
then the instances companies and the clearing house themselves will have to start buying shares with their $63 trillion insurance fund (which is basically just the federal reserve printing money).
The entire global economy is only $87.8 trillion... and for a brief few days 28/
orders are filled. Hedge funds and entire options markets will go bankrupt. If there are 500 million shares shares bought at $100,000 each, then these groups have to come up with $50 trillion. No one has that kind of money. So, they will be liquidated pit of existence, and 27/
bottomed out around $40 a share, but it wasn't done, more HFs loans were due and they had had buy the stock and give it back to their lenders, so the price spiked again last week to around $200. This caused a new problem: options markets. 13/
By January the shares on GameStop had been shorted something like 140%... how does that happen? Well, once the stock is borrowed and shorted, and someone like me buys the shares, I would get counted as an owner and the fund from which the shares were borrowed gets counted as 9/
Another addendum:
Jfc🤦♂️
The entire point of my thread has gone over every libertarian and nazi account's heads. I am pointing out how broken the system is, that we used to be able to pay for college by working 5 weeks in the summer, and now we have to work infinite years.
an owner too. Then, the stock sits in my brokerage account and my broker lends the stock to a hedge fund and shorts it again. So someone else bought the shares and they're counted as an owner, I'm counted as an owner, and the index fund is counted as an owner... before long 10/
millions of times, because remember, there are 200 to 500 million naked/synthetics shares out there but only 50 million physical shares. They don't know of they will get a physical share or a synthetic one when someone offers to sell and they have to keep buying until all 26/
Expects a shitty stock like $GME to shoot up 300+%? This is called a "naked option" and the options trader now has to find the shares to fulfill the order. The problem is that he only got paid $81 per share and last Friday shares were $100 each. So the options guys are 17/
Options markets are weird to the average person. Basically, people have the stock in 100 share blocks, and sell "options to buy" known as "call options" where you purchase the right to buy the stock at at a set price of the market for that stock goes up. 14/
hemorrhaging money because the stock went from $40 to $100 in three days and all the contracts due on 2/26 from $100 on down were now "in the money" (ITM). On top of this, a whole bunch of short sellers were doing naked shorts, meaning they were selling stock they didn't have 18/
on the promise that in two days they will find the shares and deliver them, betting that the price would drop and they could find cheap shares to fulfill their order.
As it stands, between the shorts, naked shorts, and naked call options, the rich douchebags have to find 19/
come tomorrow afternoon if the price remains above $100.
Every evening after the market closes the brokerages do some accounting with the clearing houses. They even their books see that x-number of shares moved here and y-dollars moved there and sometimes they find that 21/
