Well over 20 years ago Chris Botti came into the London Chess Centre to buy Sting a travel chess set for his birthday. He said the whole band played. I asked him who wins, Sting came the answer. In June 2000 Sting played @Kasparov63 in a simul in Time Square

It was totally ridiculous. I reviewed the video in the Appeals Committee meeting. Pieces thrown all over the place, clock hit before the move was complete, he was even standing up at one point. I asked for the arbiter to be explained the basics. We have to do better

Good news! Niger, one of the few countries not affiliated to @FIDE has formed a federation. I'll be sending the statutes to @advorkovich and making introductions tomorrow. Also sending them more chess sets from @chessandbridge but perhaps CACDEC could take it from here #Chess

Another triumph for @theworldchess organisation. In round five on floor two I saw a security person holding a sign saying No Mobile and a spectator took a picture of him .... with his mobile.

Although he was clearly disturbed by flash photography by spectators while in time trouble, a smiling Levon Aronian said this after the game when asked if he was affected by it: "When you play badly then your play is affected by everything, but when you play well it's not."
