OTD in 1929 the #Yankees announce they will put #'s on the backs of their uniforms, becoming the first baseball team to engage in continuous use of #'s. The first #'s were based on positions in the batting order. This big fella (here in 1931 w/our color added), was the #3 hitter!

#HOF 'er Jimmie Foxx was born OTD in 1907 in Sudlersville, MD. Shown here in 1925 as a 17-yr old Rookie w/the Philladelphia @Athletics (restored and colorized by us), Foxx only played in 10 games that season and had just 9 ABs, but 6 were hits including a double & 2 runs scored.

OTD in 1910 White Sox Park opens with a 2-0 loss to the Browns. The stadium, which becomes known as Comiskey Park c. 1913, cost $750,000 to build. We took 2 separate 1915 images, merge into a more complete image, restored/repaired it, & brought it to life in color. One-of-a-kind.

Ty Cobb was Born in Narrows, GA OTD in 1886. The Georgia Peach, here + our color in 1913, played 24 season w/a career BA of .366 (or .367?), hit <.300 only once (an 18 yr old rookie), & hit over .400 3x! Career 4,189 hits & 1st player elected to the @baseballhall @detsportsnation

Christy Mathewson was born in Factoryville, PA OTD in 1880. "Big Six" is a member of the 1st HOF Class (1936). Shown here in 1904 in a Charles Conlon original photograph, we brought him to life in color. In '04 he was 33-12/2.03 ERA (367 IP) for the Giants & led the NL w/212 K's.
