August 10, 2004. On this date in Reds history, Reds Hall of Famer Adam Dunn hit the longest HR in Great American Ball Park history. His blast to center sailed over the batter’s eye and out of the park. The distance was calculated to be 535 feet. #RedsHOFarchives : The ball!

On this date in Reds history, 2/22/1934, George Lee “Sparky” Anderson was born in Bridgewater, SD. Anderson is the winningest manager in Reds history, accumulating 863 victories as the pilot of the Big Red Machine from 1970–78. Visit Sparky in "Pursuit of A Dream."

This date in Reds history, 10/2/69, Pete Rose clinched his 2nd NL batting title in his last at-bat of the season. Rose came to the plate in Atlanta in the 8th w/a slim .0008 lead over Roberto Clemente. He beat out a bunt to clinch it. 4/19/70 ceremony to award silver bat.
