Hilarious how suddenly professors from various IITs are now looking up my LinkedIn profile. The last visitor is Preeti Sinha from IIT Delhi. What a bunch of useless faculty from shitty institutes who need to become active not for research but for PR.

You have a great point but by the time (7 years later) Radcliffe was already well celebrated. Does Nature pick winning ideas or people who have already won?

@drleatongray
That's what I thought. We find application of that work in almost all fields. After rejection from Nature, Cell, Science, and PNAS we are restructuring (read dumbing down and breaking into smaller units) for it to get through. Here's a TEDx talk on it.

Compared to Modi, I think AliaBhatt will make a better PM. Lesser acting, higher intelligence, and certainly less destruction of fabric of India. Anyone but Modi. P.S., I'm not saying make Alia PM; you get the drift.

I don't know anyone with comparable courage in recent times. Ukranians are standing up to Goliath Russian imperialists and forcing them to retreat from so many fronts. Free world owes it's freedom to Ukraine for not giving up.
A professor was lecturing "In English," he said, "a double negative forms a positive. However, in Russian, a double negative remains negative. But there isn't a single language, in which a double positive can express a negative."
A voice from the back of the room, "Yeah, right."

Good point. For us that has been true. When we were just a small startup with no valuation, we were blessed with a few bright students. Now, I've offered one a 5 percent equity in a new venture, after she helped build a brand worth 140 million. There are gems in India and world.

I am happy to have such poor bias, after having team of top US scientists, including work with two Noble laureates. I have also reported and have got IITs to retract several research papers.
Difficult to find a non-govt organization with such a laser focus to find cure for any disease as
@CureEpilepsy
. One of the great things of working in the field of epilepsy is the joy of seeing such committed organizations and individuals.
Epilepsy impacts 1 percent of global population and has a global influence of few trillion dollars, in terms of loss of possible productivity, cost of life, comorbidities, including depression and suicide, and influence on the life of friends and families. Most of it is solvable.
Kiev in 3 days has now become Moscow in 3 days. Whether Putin goes in 3 days or 3 months, one must ensure the safety of people. It is not a war between Russian people and Ukrainian people. It is a war created by Putin against Ukrainian people.

This is showing only success story. Its not showing the human, economic, and social costs. The positive message is to believe in yourself but more important subtext is to fix the system. Academia and scientific publication should be about innovation but they often get in its way.

We are developing diets, new supplements, new medicine, working on manufacturing of generics, opening schools for kids with epilepsy, ADHD, autism, and trauma, designs of clothes and furniture, apps to maintain online diaries, and prediction. We are working on all fronts to cure.
We are running the largest epilepsy citizen science awareness effort in the world, with hundreds of physicians, scientists, and students joining us each month.

Very happy to talk to you, and give you advice, tailored to your background, experience and aspirations. Don't do my mistake of thinking that you can do research anywhere. I find that in failing places there is more politics than science.

IITs have a good structure for engineering but for masters and Ph.D. they have a long way to go, and India in general leaves a lot to be desired. That said, there are always exceptions. Do well in your research.

Holy cow! Cassowary toes can inflict serious damage. My few close encounters with wildlife, decades apart were in the same place in Thekkadi in Periyar district, Kerela India. First time tiger, and cobra, second time an elephant charging, group of Sambar deer and wild hogs.

The problem is focus on grades, memorization, answering questions which have been asked for the last ten years, and recycling unoriginal projects. Independent thinking is missing. IITs and top places (I was educated in one before pursuing a PhD in the USA) teach presentation.
