Today, we honour and remember Sergeant Rick McDonald who gave his life 25 years ago, protecting this community. We remember his smile, his laugh, his larger the life personality and his selflessness. Although he is gone, he is never forgotten. He is a hero in life, not death.
School isn’t yet out for the summer, but this driver is certainly out of a licence for 30 days after being caught speeding 91 km/h in a 40 km/h school zone on Valleyview Rd. 14-day vehicle impound & driver will appear in provincial offences court in June to answer to the charges.
Late last night GSPS officers responded to a female in a MH crisis. Police were the only immediate MH resource available after hours. 3 hrs of negotiations resulted in a safe de-escalation of the situation & getting her the medical help she needed

We received an international distress message via satellite GPS from a stranded family on an ATV on the extreme northern fringe of our area. Rural and Patrol officers were activated and rendered assistance and the situation ended on a high note.

This evening one of our stealthy traffic officers (we’ll refer to him by his call sign, Tango4, to protect his secret identity) intercepted a 24 year-old driver rocketing along at 177 km/h in an 80 zone. The offender was charged with stunt driving and the vehicle was impounded.
We are receiving reports that Martha the Moose is back on the loose on Lasalle Blvd. The moose is on Lasalle Blvd near Smith's. She is on the roadway. Officers are en route. We ask motorists to drive with caution in the area.

Our plainclothes cellphone enforcement campaign continues on Barrydowne today. While on our way there, one of our officers was passed by a driver on the phone, speeding by 33 km/h who then crossed the centreline with two dogs in the car. $850 in fines for speeding & cellphone use
We've received multiple complaints of vehicles speeding during the morning hours on Valleyview Rd. Our Traffic Management Unit stopped this vehicle travelling 85 km/h in the 40 km/h school zone. The driver was charged with stunt driving: 30-day licence suspension & 14-day impound
Yesterday afternoon our Traffic Unit conducted enforcement on Maley Dr. 5 stunt drivers were stopped, charged & their vehicles towed within a few hours. Highest speed was 62 km/h over the limit. Strict enforcement will continue as long as this high risk behaviour is observed.

Tonight police were investigating a weapons complaint. As a result, a search warrant was executed on a hotel room. Located was 95 grams of fentanyl valued at $38 000. One of the party’s arrested during this incident was wanted on an immigration warrant.
