There are already reports that soldiers are forcing their entry into civilian homes to hide or take civilian clothing. Electricity, internet and phone signal are intermittent at best and there are fears that they will be cut off completely shortly after morning prayers.

Reports that the army has advised that civilians evacuate but provisions are unknown. Civilians are too scared to leave their homes due to the frequent exchange of gunfire outside. People are staying on the ground floor and, if possible, under their beds for shelter.

Either way, exit roads to neighbourhoods away from the hotspots of fighting are blocked. Civilians in neighbourhoods that house RSF bases fear that RSF troops fleeing air strikes will fill the neighbourhoods, thereby displacing civilians in the process.
