We lost one of our 15 year old athletes to cancer today. Charlie Landers battled it like a true champion. He was an inspiration to our whole community. He fought like hell for years. Kept working at baseball through his treatment. He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

Something hit me today. This summer my family won’t have to spend 10-12 thousand dollars on tournament baseball. I’ll miss a lot of it. We sacrificed a lot to afford it. I wouldn’t do it any differently. The burden some families financially endure to do it shouldn’t go unnoticed

Hit the baseballs/take the yellow balls. Make a fast decision, learn how to think yes and break it down late. This was with our 10u team today. They did an awesome job. Amazed us with how quickly they adjusted.

I worked with 33 hitters today. 24 in my college group and 9 1 on 1 sessions. 10 D3 and 20 D1. Biggest guy is 6’5 230. Smallest is 5’7 170. They all move totally different. Wrapping my brain around teaching them all the same thing is insane to me. It’s literally unimaginable.

I’m blocked by most of the HLP crew. To watch them try to put Seager in the HLP box is very funny. None of the HLP guys swing like Seager. His path (hands and barrel) is way more short and direct than anything they teach. The barrel plains as he moves it FORWARD. Not behind him!

1/3 People ask me, who are the hardest kids to train? It’s an easy answer. 7th graders. Kids that are transitioning to the -3 from the -10. From the 50/70 to the 60/90 Diamond. For the most part they are often below 110 lbs. and they had alot of success with the light bat.

We’ve played 5-6 games of HS Baseball in NJ so far. So many kids, coaches, parents have hit the panic button already. As a player you need to ask yourself “is this fun for me?” HS baseball shouldn’t be an anxiety ridden experience. It should be about having fun playing the game

Infield coaches always talk about the “gas pedal”. My son is a catcher who has to play SS for his high school team. He works on his infield play, but never once was this taught to him. It’s human anatomy. If you’re coming through the the ball it’s gonna be heel to toe. Simple.

Watched a very talented 14u pitcher sitting low 80’s yesterday. Coach let him throw all 7 innings, 127 pitches total. I was cringing with every pitch in the 6th and 7th inning. Hey they won the game though. Coaching/parenting is just lacking in that situation. #sad

Kids wanted to hit today so we hit. We cancelled all group/team workouts for the foreseeable future. If guys want to continue to work 1 on 1 as long as we are all legally allowed I’ll be in the cage. I don’t regret that one bit. As far as money goes I volunteer at a high school.

Great post. Be comfortable with your foot in the air. The ground will always be there when you need it. No need to tap, and look for the ground. The ground isn’t going anywhere.

Are you starting ur load early enough to get your best swing off? If not, the swing will naturally break down as the brain tries to make up 4 not being in a good position to hit. Many of the best hitters start the loading process at hand break wether that’s a toe tap or leg kick.

My Dad loves what he does. Weather it’s baseball, football or basketball he gives the kids an honest days work. There’s a lot to be said about that. I’m lucky to have learned that from him, as a coach I take that same mentality into the cage everyday. @hankteel

As I get older I tell my players how much I love them and how proud I am of their efforts. I wish I would have done that as a younger coach. Young coaches let your players know you appreciate their effort on a consistent basis.
