Brightening the mood a bit. My brother and I got an Aaron Boone cameo for my father for Christmas 2020. The old man doesn’t care for Boone, like so many of you folks. So we wanted to have fun with it, and Aaron was such a great sport about it. Melancholy, but good, memories

The MLB average barrel rate this season is 7.2% Shohei Ohtani sports a 19.1% barrel rate, 100th percentile on statcast. That’s insane. Aaron Judge has a *29.3%* barrel rate. That’s over 10% higher than the guy listed as 100th percentile in that category

Was thinking back to this randomly today. “See?! Analytics don’t mean anything!!” After this tweet, Elder pitched to a 4.95 ERA for the remainder of the year. He then posted an ERA over 6 in 10 starts this season and was demoted to the minors But no one seems to care about that

@trumanation_ They basically just use statcast data for sprint speed as a guideline for speed in the game. They’ll juice it from time to time. He was 67th percentile sprint speed in 23. So, technically, you could argue 80 speed was juiced. But I still get what you’re saying
