Worked in Korea 2 years as Project Engineer in Samsung Engineering HQ. Got friend who work for LG Electronics & Samsung LCD too
Get about RM 300,000 for 2 years so RM 12,500/m but really stressful. Got anxiety & depression as result
Back to Malaysia, start back from RM 4.5K👌
@Solo_Level_27
The best Malaysian boleh dapat adalah work abroad, then apply talentcorp returning expert program, kalau tak, hadap jela tengok expat dapat semua perks tu kat negara sendiri 😅
Top performers expats x dtg Mesia or SEA, diorang akan go to HQ negara company tu.
I worked for Korean, French, Swiss company and learned from global coworkers. This is what I learned that helps me break into RM xx,xxx/m at 32 years old (38 now):

You can't use coworker salary to nego your salary. HR can easily counter-argue with "Should I lower their salary to match yours?" or "Your coworker performs better than you." Let me share how I helped my friend get 30% counteroffer from his manager:
Pas kahwin 20-an maybe stay rumah parents dulu, sewa bilik or sewa rumah apartment sbb nak kumpul deposit nak beli apartment
30-an beli apartment
40-an jual apartment beli rumah landed utk retire
Based on pengalaman sy sendiri je. Pace masing2 sbb rezeki lain2 ye 🙏

Korean work culture work best for Project Management. Most Korean men went to National Service so they bring the army leadership style into workplace
Things move fast once decision made by top leader
On flip side, no room to suggest new ideas or be creative and less innovation
Nope. Personally worked as Project Engineer/Manager in Oil & Gas for 4 years.
This is Project Management, not Product Management. They finalized the scope & exact spec before project start.
They are using Primavera and Microsoft Project, not Jira.
Waterfall work for project
Amek both
2.5K tu dtg opis, wat keje cepat siapkan time pg. Tp sblom blk br bgtau da siapkan keje
Keje 10K tu plak to remotely bg x stress n x yah deal dgn opis politik
Next jump. Bgtau “currently I am earning monthly gross income of RM 12.5K & expect about 20%~30% increment
Gaji rm2500, kerja happy, bos baik ,rakan kerja baik.
Gaji 10,000, kerja stress, Bos tegas & garang.kuat maki, rakan kerja toxic.
Korang pilih yang mana tahun 2024 ?
@afrieirham_
Depend on the 120k loan repayment term. If you have to pay it within 7 years. You still get an extra RM 771 per month compared to staying at the 3.2k job. So take the 6k job, and within 7 years hopefully, you perform and got raise or jump to better pay job.
Only had one interview with CEO my whole 14 years career.
Took 1 week research & using their product, prepared this and presented to the CEO ➡️
RESULT: Jump from 3 years exp Product Manager 7.5K/m to 9.5K/m for the next 2 years executing my plan 🫡
Prepare a "My 3-month career goals list".
I taktau ada sesiapa pernah buat macam ni ke takk. Tapi I buat ni masa interview dengan CEO, terus dapat offer the next day untuk senior role 5years experience. Padahal experience I baru 3 tahun.
Context: Was Project Engineer (later Project Manager) in Oil & Gas for 4 years before pivot to Product Management. But sure let me share some practical tips for PM (Project Manager)
1. Join weekly & monthly progress update meeting. Observe how decisions are made.
2. Write MoM…
1️⃣STRIVE IN GREY ZONE: You need to be comfortable with ambiguity. Your manager will give business goal to achieve, it’s your job to nail the details
Sometime scope fall between teams. Clarify, confirm & don’t assume someone is doing it
Go figure, get info & coordinated w others
Allah, saya harap anon banyak bersabar. Begini anon, guna teknik machine gun, mohon banyak-banyak.
Anon dah ada kelebihan sekarang sebab anon boleh sertai syarikat baru serta-merta. Letak point ini dalam CV.
5️⃣TAKE LEAD:
Management always appreciates if you willing to step up & help lead the team
“I don’t have answers to that. But let me figure it out”
Stop complaining & do something to fix the situation
Company willing to pay expat rate for locals who can lead & deliver 💯
3️⃣MAKE YOUR BOSS LOOK GOOD:
Share your team achievements with your manager, give him opportunities to congratulate the team & announce big wins to the company
He will mentor you, share his experience & mistakes. It’s cheat codes for your career
Secretly he praised me to others
2️⃣ALWAYS OVER-DELIVER: My Biz Analyst did a poor job so I step up by doing both BA & PO at same time to deliver the product
Do superb job until your manager just sign the report with looking at it because he trust your work
Don’t just follow requirements, aim to delight Client
Tech Bros: Keje tech paid well, paid this much, ini benefits dia etc
Other Tech Bros: Thanks bro, good info on the salary so we know what to aim later
Non Tech: Ni semua luck
Tech Bros: We welcome anyone. Come la
Non Tech: Ni semua gate-keeping
Tech Bros: Next sharing is….
Not all roles, industry or companies can reach 5-digits salary
@ikanez
& myself aim is to share info so those currently doing degree or graduating from university can make better career decision that suit them personally & financially
Source ➡️
4️⃣OVER-COMMUNICATE & RECORD:
After meeting/call, send recap:
- Who needs to do what by when?
- Items that need more info
- Cc boss
Initiate Team Wiki; record key info of each projects & products. Share links to that Wiki when someone ask for info.
Be example for other team
@IkhwanB
Surprisingly the army-like leadership. Things move fast once the Project Manager decided.
No unnecessary meetings to gather consent or appear democratic like in many western companies.
Decision get made fast. Mistake gets fixed faster.
Plus there is project bonus
Sure, shoot me if you have any PM (both Project Manager & Product Manager) question. Been both. Graduated in Mech Engineering degree. Work as O&G project engineer for 4 years before pivot to Product Management. Currently on my 9th year as Product Manager.
Risau gak org kecam. Mamat ni claim semua dia tahu je. Ah pulok. Byk lg yg rasa x tahu sebenarnya. X tau coding, x fasih mengaji etc. Kita semua dlm journey mencari Ikigai dlm hidup kita. Ayuh geng!
@byzahin_
Welcome. Dulu naive, ingat keje plg kuat je automatic dihargai n well paid.
Nope if no one knows how good you are.
So do your best work but also take time to let others know about it.
Nothing wrong with that. Just like any app or products. Gotta market it so people know it
For bore-out, this is what I do:
1. Recognize this is a good problem to have. You outgrow your role & responsibilities
2. Think like a brain/heart surgeon or firefighter; they don't always work, but it is very intense when they work. Enjoy your free time
Back to topic of burnt-out. Bore-out is just as bad. You feel the work too easy & you still end up suffering
Anyway, life & career is long. Change as you grow. Nobody force you to stuck.
Your child & family feel bad seeing you suffer too
@MHaffizJ
✅A vast majority of the fat is exhaled out as carbon dioxide.
in other words, if you lose 10 kg fat, then 8.4 kg comes out through the lungs as Carbon dioxide and the remaining 1.6 kg turns into water. To metabolise 1 kg of fat, you need 2.9 kg of oxygen to be inhaled - Google

Sy rasa term “Quiet Quitting” ni majikan yg create. Nak bg bunyi cam negative. Gen-Z keje as per JD (job description)
Maybe da fed-up tgk generasi sblom diorang asyik kena manipulate dgn janji palsu majikan

wanted to highlight, if you get burnout anyway might as well get paid well

Saya pun nak bagi nasihat jangan tengok duit, jangan itu dulu, jangan ini dulu tapi bila reflect balik itulah diri kita sebelum ni yang mengharapkan sesuatu.
Kita support jer harapan orang lain.
Cuba try dulu dapatkan 5 figures, 6 figures tu dulu
@amalmnop
Gotta pick ur battle. X semua benda kita nyer keje utk fix
Dulu umur 24-30 rasa gak camni. Kita terpaling btol & tahu
Tp da 31-39 ni mental peace & mental health lg penting. Sykt bayar kita utk keje 9am-6pm Isnin-Jumaat so time tu je fikir pasal keje
Gi cari hobi or voluteer
Talking to new generation of Product Managers gives me hope for future.
We need more passionate, kind & unique talents to help make better product categories that might not even exist yet
Let’s go 🚀🚀🚀
Been doing software product management for past 9 years but O&G still facinates me! The stake is way higher, one mistake and people die 💀
Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) is a project to prepare scope for actual project!
The project of building ship or oil platform is EPC..
Nope. Personally worked as Project Engineer/Manager in Oil & Gas for 4 years.
This is Project Management, not Product Management. They finalized the scope & exact spec before project start.
They are using Primavera and Microsoft Project, not Jira.
Waterfall work for project
@gorengboi
Some international company willing to pay same rate as expat if you performed even as Malaysian worker because they already saved money on housing & child education allowance.
Personally Product Management is new & rising field so it is a long career play. Let’s use Setel as example:
1. Associate Product Manager: RM 3K~5.4K/m
2. Product Manager: RM 6.1K~8.3K/m
3. Senior Product Manager: RM 8K~15.7K/m
I think it is well paid; almost as much as dev/coder
@Solo_Level_27
How about the salary ladder? Will it reset back to beginners salary cause i just started to begin as a product manager?In terms of portfolio etc what are the key contribution to be able to secure the position as Product Manager ya?
Graduated with Mechanical Engineering bachelor's degree and start career doing Project Management for four years before pivoting to Product Management.
Will be a decade as Product Manager by the end of the year!
No! I have a Project Management background, which helped me to get quickly into Product Management, but also brought some flaws with it (e.g., Gantt-Chart planning 😛
So that we get a lot of insights, please take part in
@iamireneyu
survey. It takes about two seconds! Thanks!

Sama la time winter kt Korea, elaun JPA plak masuk lambat. Seminggu dua gak mkn lempeng tepung + ikan bilis je....trauma
Time tu fikir, 20 taun lebih hidup je....I am not gonna die just because I don't have money. Wat keje part time; tour guide, keje kt international food mart!
“Real is what's in my bank account, not other people's opinions.”
My counter argument:
1️⃣ New boss can be 10x better too
2️⃣ Use your annual leave & apply MC if sick
3️⃣ Make new friends & expand ur network
TQ 4 saving 💰 4 ur company
Used to bad shit; believe it is good shit
Firman Allah SWT:
“Sesungguhnya Allah tidak akan mengubah nasib suatu kaum kecuali kaum itu sendiri yang mengubah apa yang ada pada diri mereka.' (Ar-Ra’ad:11)
Jangan takut akan perubahan.
Kita mungkin kehilangan sesuatu yg baik, namun kita akan peroleh sesuatu yg lebih baik.
Tahu nilai sejam kerja penting. Contoh kalo gaji anda RM 7,500 sebulan, sejam anda bernilai RM 43.
So pasni kalau kena beratur or buat something, senang nak decide. Spend dua to tiga jam utk tebas semak kt rumah? Kalau bayar org RM 43 je. Anda da jimat dua jam. Time = money.
Prinsip Pareto / Prinsip 20:80
Ada kan kawan yg study malas, sblom exam nampak baca sket je tp result perform?
Sbb dia baca & faham 20% buku mana yg akan jd 80% soalan exam nnt

Apa ye….esok sambung
T20s occupy 82.4% of the total savings in EPF.
B40s, despite being the largest population, only occupy 1% of the fund.
On average, T20s have 163 times more savings compared to B40s, and 10x more versus M40s.
Now, given the option to withdraw from Account 3:

Nak ada 100K umur 30?
Kena paksa diri simpan or generate extra RM 508.33 dr umur 24 & simpan di ASB
Gaji 3K, bila umur 30 EPF ada 58K
Masih short 41K so kena add RM 508.33 tiap bulan di ASB
6 taun dia rolling jd 41K
Umur 24, gaji RM3,000. Boleh ke kumpul RM100k sebelum umur 30?
Boleh, dgn kesanggupan asingkan 40% gaji dalam investment selama 6 tahun. Hustle sgt klu camni.
The best way campur EPF + Investment. Bahagikan camni dari gaji:
EPF: 24%
Inv: 16%
Pastikn return Inv 8% setahun.
1. Check your pay against the market based on your experience. There is Payscale, Glassdoor, MichaelPage salary guide and my favorite as it helps compare same level of job cross companies.

Split your current Sprint into Dual-Track Agile: One for Development, the other for Discovery + Design.
Only User Stories that are clearly defined will enter the Development Sprint.
Discovery & Design Sprint will be ahead of Development Sprint.

One important thing I've learn in my 30+ years in tech - when asked to do something,
ALWAYS
ALWAYS
ALWAYS
revert back to boss / person to asked you to do it and close it.
It's being accountable and responsible.
It also etches in people minds that you are dependable.
