So that’s that for 2021! Thank you to all the coaches, referees, parents, spectators and most importantly players who continue to make our league what it is - the best around! The committee would like to wish you and yours all the very best for Christmas and New Year 👍
As promised, crucial maintenance is underway on our pitches. It's the first time in 5 years the pitches have undergone Verti draining, and this is only the beginning.
We want teams proud to play in this league, and having great facilities is a big part of that.
Announcement: We are waiving the League Fees for the U7s & U8s divisions for the 2022/23 season. This will give teams in these age groups a huge saving! We have places in these age groups available now. Please read the notice below for more info. ⤵️
We managed to get the pitches Verti-Drained this week, as they’re now firm enough to get a tractor on them. We have no idea how long this Coronavirus crisis will last for, but this will help the pitches for whenever the football can resume. We hope everyone is staying safe. 🙏🏻
Great to be able to get most of the games on today. Can’t do anything about the British weather unfortunately, and we had rain & frost to contend with today. Hoping for some better weather soon. ⚽️
We checked the pitches today and they were looking surprisingly okay given the recent wet weather! ☔️ We’ll have a pitch inspection on Saturday afternoon and will post back how they’re looking then.
Teams in our league will hold a minute’s silence before each match on Sunday in memory of the young footballer, Jordan Banks, who tragically lost his life earlier this week. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this awful time. 🙏🏻

Sadly the weather wins and we’ve made the decision to postpone tomorrow’s fixtures. The pitches are already very waterlogged so given the forecast overnight, we’ve made the decision now. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 👍
Congratulations to our Groundsman, Peter Brierley, for winning the Groundsman of the Year award in the
@Liverpool_CFA
's Grassroots Football Awards. It's fantastic for him to get some recognition for all the hours he puts into looking after our pitches. Well done Peter. 👏🏻
WINNER | Continuing our daily announcement of winners of this year's

Football Awards, today we reveal the winner of Grounds Team of the Year.
And the winner is... ➡️
@SkemJFL
We would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from all the committee at the Skem JFL. 🎄 The games are due to resume on Sunday 10th January, so we’ll look forward to seeing you then. ⚽️
To safeguard the health and well-being of all those who use our facilities during the current Coronavirus pandemic, we have taken the decision to suspend the league programme for a minimum of two weekends (up to and including Sunday 22nd March 2020).
⚠️ We’re afraid that all games are off tomorrow (11th Dec) due to the icy conditions & with more cold weather forecast. ❄️
We’re now on our Christmas break, so the Committee would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, and we return on Sunday 8th January 2023.
There was a pitch inspection this morning and as things stand, all games are ON tomorrow. We will only post back tomorrow if anything changes, so no news is good news and means the games are on. ⚽️
We're afraid that all fixtures for Sunday 4th October are OFF. The pitches were borderline at 5:30pm after the rain today, but with heavy rain forecast throughout the night, there won't be enough time in the morning for them to dry out. Apologies for the disappointment. ☔️
We’ve had a pitch inspection and the ground is good so all games are ON tomorrow. ⚽️ We will only post again if anything changes, so no news is good news.
We've made an early decision to cancel the games on Sunday due to the awful weather, which will come as no surprise. ❄️🌨💨 The fixtures will roll-over to next week and we'll update the U9s, U10s & U12s fixtures in the next few days and post back once this has been done. ⚽️
We support the
@savegrassroots
campaign. Please can all the teams & parents in our league (and other leagues) sign & share this e-petition: 👍🏻⚽️ Forcing a debate in Parliament may help to bring more investment into grassroots football.
ALL GAMES ARE CANCELLED TOMORROW
Unfortunately due to the rain we’ve had and the further rain forecast all matches tomorrow are postponed and will roll over to next week
We’ve made an early decision to call off the games for this Sunday (2nd Feb). The pitches haven’t recovered from last week’s matches yet and there’s more rain forecast for this Sunday. Apologies to everyone for the disappointment. 😔
We’re afraid that all the games are OFF for tomorrow. The heavy rain over the past 24 hours (it’s still raining now) means the pitches are waterlogged, and there’s not enough time for them to dry out for tomorrow morning. Apologies for the disappointment.
We’re afraid that all the games are OFF this Sunday. ☔️ The heavy rain this week, together with more forecast this weekend, has meant we’ve made an early decision to call it off due to waterlogged pitches. Enjoy your weekend.
Had lots of people asking how the pitches are doing after Liverpool City Council called off games this weekend on grass pitches in their leagues earlier today. We come under West Lancs but we'll have a pitch inspection at midday tomorrow & will post back once we've done this. 👍🏻
🏆
@Skem_JFL
Cup Winners! Proud of the boys today, went a goal down early on but put in a superb performance to battle back, deservedly equalised late on & then won it in extra-time! Well done lads, some game that 💪🏻⚽️🏆
MOTM: Harry D & Ryan
Jamie here, league welfare officer, coach at under 14’s and referee - I’ve had the absolute pleasure this season of refereeing a number of matches and at the end of each, coaches and parents have come across to say “thank you”. A small gesture but so greatly appreciated 1/2
GAMES ARE OFF
Unfortunately due to the heavy rain overnight all pitches are waterlogged and unplayable so all fixtures are off and will roll over to next week. Sorry for the short notice.
Always going to be hard versus the league leaders today
@Skem_JFL
. Didn’t show the fight we usually do as a team and let ourselves down despite showing glimpses of what we could do. Shame some of the opposition couldn’t win gracefully. Well done Dan and Lewis on MotM 👏🏻
Good news! 👍🏻⚽️ We’ll have a full programme of fixtures this Sunday now. We’ll get the fixtures updated and post back once they’re up. Use the fixture request form on the website to submit any cancellations or requests ASAP.
📢 Important update to Liverpool FA members📢
📄 An updated joint statement has been released by North West County FA CEOs regarding local lockdowns and grassroots football.
We've done a pitch inspection and all games are OFF this Sunday (23rd Feb). The pitches are waterlogged with all the rain we've had & there's more forecast for this weekend. Other local leagues in Sefton, Liverpool & St Helens have already cancelled for the same reason. ☔️
So here we are, today marked the end of the season. It’s not been the easiest with the many covid regulations, stoppages and “new normal” but all at the league were committed to giving the kids a full programme of football and we hope everyone involved from 1/2
The games tomorrow are ON at the moment as the pitches are fine, but we are expecting rain later, if the forecast is right. We’ll have another pitch inspection in the morning at 7:30am-8am, so please check back then in case anything changes.
Referees Wanted! Read our notice that explains the recent referee shortages we've had, and find out how you can referee in our league. We pay £15-£25 per match for referees. ⚽️
Please RT! 👍🏻
@Liverpool_CFA
All games are OFF tomorrow (9th Feb), we’re afraid. We’ve just done a pitch inspection and the games would be on if we were playing today, but with the storm hitting on Sunday morning, we won’t have a chance with the wind and rain that’s forecast. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
A polite reminder to parents & spectators that the car park behind the clubhouse (by the old basketball court) is for managers & coaches only. This is so they can park close to the pitches as they’ll be the ones carrying their team’s bags, balls, equipment, etc. 👍🏻
TOMORROW IS CANCELLED
Given the continued bad weather, we have made the decision to cancel all football tomorrow, with fixtures rolling over to next week 👍
The games are ON tomorrow as things stand. There have been a few cancellations though so please check the fixtures carefully. Hopefully the rain forecast overnight isn’t too bad. We’ll post back in the morning if anything changes. ⚽️
Reminder…we were inundated today with questions as to whether the games are on. Remember we will generally only post on social media when the games are off. Read comments today that “you think they’d let us know” but when games are on the committee are busy getting things ready
Unfortunately the games are OFF this Sunday 15th January. With the heavy rain all week and the rain forecast over the weekend, the pitches are not playable. The majority of fixtures will be rolled over but please check next weeks fixtures carefully as some may change.
It will come as no surprise given the weather that all the matches are OFF tomorrow. 🌨❄️💨 Just about every other local league has had its matches called off too. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 👍🏻
This is just a quick update about the pitches. The council are doing some essential maintenance at Liverpool Road on Monday, then on Wednesday, the council are meeting the committee and a team manager at Liverpool Road to further discuss improvements that need to happen.
All games are OFF today. We’ve done a pitch inspection and the pitches are still rock solid. We tried to give it a chance by cancelling the earliest games and waiting until this morning. Apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience. ❄️
The fixtures for this Sunday have been posted. ⚽️ Liverpool County FA have confirmed that travelling from one tier 3 area to another tier 3 area is okay for Junior Football (we'll post their full statement on our website later).
Please can teams read this important notice about behaviour towards referees, and bring this to the attention of everyone on involved with your team. ⤵️
We’re afraid that all matches on Sunday 20th November are postponed. This is to protect the pitches due to all the rain we’ve had this week, and with further rain forecast. ☔️
We’ve decided to call the games OFF tomorrow. The pitches were just about playable if the games were today, but every weather forecast is predicting heavy rain through the night. So with this in mind, we’ve made an early decision so people can make other plans.
All games are OFF on Sunday we're afraid. We had a pitch inspection this afternoon, and although the pitches are almost okay, there's rain forecast for most of the weekend so they won't be playable for this Sunday. We hope to be back next week as the forecast looks dryer then. 👍🏻
We have inspected the pitches and as it stands, they are playable at present - however, we will re inspect at 8am in the morning and let everyone know if they become unplayable. If you don't hear from us then the games are ON.
The games are ON tomorrow. ⚽️ The weather forecast is looking much better for then. We will only post back if anything changes, so check our social media before you leave the house and remember that no news is good news and means the games are ON! 👍🏻
Following the FA suspending all grassroots football yesterday, we are temporarily suspending the weekly league fees until further notice. More info on our website.
Great turnout at our pre-season managers meeting last night - thank you to all those who attended! We look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday 12th September for our first round of fixtures

Going to bed tonight feeling like a kid on Christmas Eve…55 years is too long but it shows, you just never know when these occasions come round - so whatever your plans, stay safe, have fun and make memories 🦁🦁🦁
⚠️ Sorry for the late notice, but all games are OFF today. This is mainly due to the strong winds, which will make the games unplayable today after our inspection just now.
Wishing Gareth Southgate and the lads the best of luck for tonight! Everyone in the grassroots community plays a part in the success of the national side, as they all started somewhere so never underestimate the importance of all our hard work 👏🦁👏🦁👏🦁👏
Just posted a message from the committee about the length of the grass today. Please be patient with us and there be significant improvement over the coming weeks.
Theres no matches now until until 5th January due to the league Christmas break, so we’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, and here’s hoping for some better weather in 2020! ⚽️
We’re afraid that all the matches are OFF tomorrow. A shame to finish the year on these wash-outs. 🙁 We’re not alone though as most other local leagues have been called off too. We’d like to send our best wishes to everyone for Christmas & New Year. 👍🏻
With the news from the FA that grassroots football can continue (see the official announcements and details in our retweets, and we’ll post a separate notice before the weekend), we have posted the fixtures for this Sunday to our website. ⚽️
⚠️ We have postponed all the 9am kick-offs for tomorrow due to the expected frost, but all other games from 10:30am onwards are currently still ON. We will post back by 9:30am tomorrow after a pitch inspection to confirm the rest of the games are still on. ⚽️
We’re afraid the games are OFF today. The pitches are frozen and there’s no chance of them thawing out in time. We were hoping the weather was going to be slightly better than was forecast this morning but unfortunately not. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. 👍🏻
It was great to get the 2020/21 season underway yesterday and to see the kids playing football again in a safe environment. ⚽️ We've added a post to our website to highlight some key points.
We’ve had an early pitch inspection and have decided to call ALL games OFF for tomorrow. This is due to the amount of rain we’ve had and with further rain forecast overnight. ☔️ Enjoy the rest of your weekend. 👍🏻
⚠️ Important notice for all our teams to read about the latest guidelines from the Liverpool County FA about grassroots football and the Liverpool City Region. ⚽️
We're afraid that all games are OFF this Sunday. The pitches took a battering last week so we're giving them a rest so they have some time to recover. It will also give us a chance to do some maintenance once they dry out.
2/3 Your ref will ALWAYS be doing their best. They’ll get some decisions wrong - they do in the premier league, hence VAR - but they don’t do so intentionally. It always comes from a good place! If you can find it in your heart to thank your ref at the end I can’t tell you
