If you're wondering "How is disrupting a niche video game tournament effective at protesting the fossil fuel industry?"
Please understand that it's not and that stunts like this aren't designed to make you mad at Chevron or BP, but to make you upset with legitimate protesters
This may be a hot take, but:
No. This should not be tournament legal as it is literally removing an intentional execution barrier. We can't go back in time & ban leverless before they became too widespread, but we can at least nip this shit in the bud
New mission: bully Riot into not using archaic notation
You guys wanna remove motions to make the game easier for newcomers? Sure, fine. Now how about you make it more inclusive and easier for them to read/share information by not having a needless language barrier?
save this for later
d.H > uf > j.L > j.M > j.H > j.S1 > L > M > H > df.H > uf > j.M > j.H > j.S2 > darius b.T > T (handshake tag to darius) > d.H > d.S1 > T (handshake tag to illaoi) > dash > uf > j.d.[H] > ddS1
Discord's interface changes being consistently bad is hilarious considering that it was started by a group of Final Fantasy XI players
Give them a break, terrible UIs are all they've known 😭
Piccolo vortex time loop, every time you fail to block, the loop resets and you must block a different sequence all over again. Do you think you have what it takes to survive?
+R has received a new update in the public test branch! To receive the update, you must opt back into the beta via Steam settings (instructions in replies)
See attached pics for full patch notes, they are LEGENDARY
The fossil fuel industry is insidiously evil and disruptive protests are fine, but legit activists wouldn't waste their time & resources targeting an event with such small reach. Note how these aren't of concern to "activists" funded by an oil baron heiress. Eyes on the ball
I actually want to see a joke character. Like do you know how funny it would be if this was just Ky with a pipe. Same moveset and everything, just +pipe
What he's talking about here is execution difficulty. A silly point as execution exists in FPS as well
Saying "Why can't I button mash" is like saying "Why can't I just spray 'n' pray" instead of actually taking aim and timing your shots lol
Anytime you start to think fighting games need to get harder instead of more accessible, you need to watch a stream of a new player trying out SF5.
This AT&T twitch event is a reminder that fighting games (even the "easiest" ones like SF5), are HARD AF to 99% of gamers.
Finish Online Match tutorial, press A to enter the floor assigned to me, immediately get a Disconnected error that has soft locked the game.
A great first impression lol
Regarding lack of motion inputs
2XKO should've split the difference like BlazBlue's control scheme: still have motion specials, but have a dedicated button for one button specials. Always felt BB was way ahead of its time in that regard
Hungry Clicker's ABA artwork is now at 63k likes--an astonishing number to achieve in a day, more than recent works for much more well known or even iconic characters, for one that was in the "Oh they're never coming back" pile just a few years ago

One of the best fighting games ever made, with stellar rollback netcode, the revolutionary Take Control training mode feature, and a great community, is once again on sale for less than a Big Mac.
Let's rock^^
I cannot recommend supporting Tekken 8.
Not at least until they put real, quality rollback in the game. It is not acceptable for a series as large and successful as Tekken to have this type of online experience.
It smacks of taking their playerbase for granted. Don't let them.
- You can combo into/out of mode switches. There are 3 total in this one combo: Changing into JR at the start, then Changing out during wall splat, then breaking the wall with Bonding
- Seems like good damage? I don't have a feel for Strive damage yet so idk
+R features:
- Top class rollback netcode
- Revolutionary "Take Control" replay feature
- A diverse and well balanced roster, each with unique and interesting playstyles
- An ocean of depth
- A helpful and friendly community
- And right now, a price tag of less than $3
I enjoy discussing system mechanic design and theory fighter type stuff, but I don't enjoy back-and-forthing on Twitter. So instead, I'm just going to explain why I like Risc (aka guard gauge) in +R 🧵(1/?)
I started playing Guilty Gear competitively back in ~2007.
Here's footage of my first ever GG GF win... From 2013.
I'm not a natural at FGs. I went 0-2 a lot early on. The notion such players should be valued less than "top" players is hogwash
BLOOD'S BACK ON THE MENU, BOYS!
Thoughts:
- YAY ABA!
- YAY THEY KEPT MODE SWITCHING!
- I miss the red hair and goat head Paracelsus, but only a bit. The new boots are badass!
- Her song is so good, wtf??
Watching now, impressions in a min
I strongly disagree with people saying +R NM ABA isn't awful, but instead of writing a thread or something, I'm brainstorming how to possibly make an event or challenge of it. I think that would be more fun and probably more productive too
Ok, so here's the first of a few bits of good news I'll be sharing in the near future:
I GOT A JOB!!!
I start tomorrow! I'm so excited to finally get back to work^^
Thank you to everyone for your kindness and support! Stay tuned as I'll have some other announcements soon^^
After being laid off due to the pandemic last year, I was struggling and severely depressed. But when the +R rollback update dropped, it made something possible for me that hadn't been for a long time: A way to play my favorite FG again. (1/4)
Testing is over, and the final major
#GGXXACPR
update from Team French CaliBurst is finally available for everyone!
Stable rooms, many new features, refined netcode, it's all here! Full changes on the news post.
Please enjoy! See you online!
#GuiltyGear
Fun fact: at the very first local I ever entered (GGXX at the local Timeout), I placed 3rd and won $7... in arcade tokens lol
The entry fee was $10 cash 🙃
The player experience provided by +R for Steam is what every other FG developer should aspire to. The bar is now in outer space
I feel so lucky this happened with my favorite FG and I hope one day that experience is shared by everyone in the FGC, regardless of what they play^^
Somehow this player picked a Gold character in Quick Match. Just as he did vs a macro user a while back, Kesuke promptly wrecked them lol. Amazing strength!
I might as well get this over with.
The neurologist yesterday said the damage I have is likely permanent. It is unlikely they will even figure out the cause of the dysautonomia and the chance of it being something curable or fixable is infinitesimally small.
Good take here
I feel ABA players (or at least speaking for me personally) are still still nailing down the general flow of when/where to switch modes and adjusting gameplans to match
Given the much shorter JR gauge and changes to BP/KG, Strive def wants you to mode switch more
not saying I didn't expect ppl to say A.B.A is the worst character in Strive, but I'll say unless u mained her in +R then ur gonna have a tough time adapting tbh
it's cliche to say this but she's 1 of those characters that needs a lil more time before saying how effective they r
I've mentioned this before but top/high level players should def play with low level players
- We were all new once. Fighting strong players helped me level up tremendously
- How are you gonna beat the low level "scrub killer" strats if you never fight someone who uses them lol
Take notice of those in the FGC who are positive, kind, and encouraging--they're the ones worth following. Other types tend to be all 🦗 when you prove yourself^^
@Juicebox_FGC
The crossup shouldn't be legal either. I'd even say it's not too late to ban the crossup right now, today, as its usage is not widespread enough.
"But saying 'up forward' makes more sense!"
Sure, let me check my leverless and intuit which buttons are up (the bottom one) and forward (the third one from the left)
Y'all can't have it both ways, prioritizing leverless and highlighting JP play while not catering to either
Skel-metal Minion??
Gonna redouble my efforts to finally learn guitar and realize the musical concept I've been chipping away at for years. Starting right now
I originally posted this as a reply but figured I'd just tweet it for visibility
My thoughts on the simplification and streamlining of modern fighting games:
This may be a hot take but I feel every FG tourney should run in a FT2, FT3 finals format
You don't need FT3 just to be extra sure the "better" player won. FT2 already gives you an extra chance against the "randomness" of a FT1, anything beyond that is just padding bruised egos
Anyone who argues for 3/5 for games had better never, EVER complain when an important match doesn’t make it on stream. 3/5 will *always* mean less total matches on stream as each match will run longer. There will definitely be less variety. It’s a trade-off.
