We gave De La Soul two covers during my time as EIC of @TheSource . First was March 1989, one of our earliest issues, wherein we expressed our love for ‘3 Feet High.’ The second was June 1991, we’d upgraded our look and our logo and timed it to match when ‘Dead’ hit the streets.

Q: What's it like to be in a Las Vegas casino during COVID? A: Bizarre... and likely dangerous. A few of the major resorts on The Strip reopened two weeks ago, along with most of downtown. Properties, executives, and staff have good intentions—but the visitors mostly do not.

Lots of chatter on: is a band 70s or 80s? Like Steely Dan is not in House 6 because nearly all their big records were 70s (and yes I know Gaucho came out in 1980). Ramones belong in House 2, but I declared them 70s. Sister Sledge straddled 70s/80s so that was a close call.

It's hilarious how bad 'big room EDM' sounds now. Just noisy and terrible and synthetic and disgustingly out of place. I know, I know, it was always atrocious. I know you always hated it. But for a few years those sounds really worked for the young'ns. No longer. Good riddance.

Heads up DJs, this is bonkers: COVID-19 relief bill would punish streaming of copyrighted content. Insane as it sounds, the legislation includes a 10-year prison term for streaming protected music content, also creates a Copyright Claims Board. WTF?! 🤬

Under-reported aspect of F1 in Vegas: numerous headline-level artists/DJs were booked for private events at top dollar but ended up playing to a crowd of like 20 people. I doubt that will happen again.
